  2. Printing lists and data files is quite simple.  You select the appropriate
  3. item from the PRINT menu and the system does the rest!   You should follow
  4. a few simple rules to achieve the best results for printing.
  5.  
  6. First it is important that your printer be initialized to accept normal
  7. characters and fonts.  No unusual or exotic characters are utilized in any
  8. of the printing options.  You may want to set the dip-switches on your
  9. printer so that the IBM graphics set may be printed.  Generally this would
  10. mean that you opt NOT to use the italics character set.

  12. Second please ensure your printer is ON and is in a READY state.  You will
  13. receive an error message if your printer is not READY.

  15. Lastly you should ensure that the printer cable is correctly seated in the
  16. computer and in the printer.  Many printing 'errors' are simply due to
  17. faulty connections.

  19. A NOTE ON PAPERWORK
  20.  
  21. It is pretty common for most of us to collect massive volumes of
  22. 'hardcopies' as a sort of protection against the loss of data.  In
  23. actuality this is truly a waste of both time and resources.  The computer
  24. should act AS AN ON-LINE IMMEDIATE TOOL FOR VIEWING DATA and therefore
  25. hard copies are really not necessary.  By keeping regular backup disks you
  26. will protect against data loss - so avoid being a paper collector!
