Version 1.00 beta
* "WHAT CAN TGAVAIL DO FOR ME?" *
TGavail will create a master and/or new listing of all
files in selected areas on a Telegard BBS system.
Options can be specified to force the creation of the
lists in a compressed archive format or straight up text.
* "WHAT DO I TELL DOS?" *
To get TGavail "up and running", there's really not much
to it. Even Billy Carter can do it! Place Tgavail.Exe
in your Telegard bbs dir.
Simply type TGavail on the dos command line and TGavail
will bring up the configuration menu and you're off and
running. Setup the appropriate areas, paths, file names
etc.
When selecting areas, "space" or "tab" will pop up the
toggle window. Multiple area numbers can be entered on
the line and should be separated with a space. To view
the next page of areas, press return.
Arrow keys will move the selection bars up, down, right
and left. The return key selects an option while the ESC
key will exit and return to the previous screen.
When entering the archive command line, refer to the docs
on the specific archiver. You MUST supply the path to the
archiver. TGavail will NOT search the path! As an example,
PKZIP should read something like this:
C:\Tools\Pkzip.Exe %1 %2
where:
%1 = archive file name (file name that will be created)
%2 = generated list file name
Do not substitute the file names in place of %1 or %2. The
%1 and %2 must appear in the line so Tgavail will know what
order to place the file names when running the archive
utility.
The default configuration file name is TGAVAIL.CFG. A
command line switch can be chosen to change the configuration
file name at startup, by using the command line switch /C.
Example: Tgavail /Cother.cfg
There are two other command line options. /M will bypass
the configuration menu and proceed to the creation of the
"master" file listing. Likewise, /N will jump directly
to the creation of the file that contains only the most
recent files received for the last X days. Both /N and /M
can be combined with the /C but cannot be combined with
each other. You can only create one list at a time.
The master header is an optional text file that may be
specified to be added at the top of the master file listing.
The recent header is an optional text file that may be
specified to be added at the top of the recent file listing.
* OK, WHAT DID I DO WRONG? *
There is very little error checking in TGavail. What this
means to you is that every path must exist, you must have
enough memory to run the program, etc. In short, use some
common sense. If you only have drive A, B and C .. don't
tell TGavail to create a file on drive K! It doesn't
require much memory for TGavail to run, but if you are
shelled and only have 50k left, don't send me mail asking
why the program won't run. ;)
* CAN I SUE DAN QUALE IF IT DOESN'T WORK? *
Every attempt has been made to ensure that TGavail will work
flawlessly on an IBM or compatible clone. NO low level disk
I/O or non documented calls have been used. If it broke, dos
did it! While I have tried to think of everything, I accept
absolutely NO responsibility for your use of TGavail. If you
are running TGavail and a lightning bolt hits your computer ..
NO, I won't buy you a new one. On the other hand, if you have
tried and double checked the configuration and it still won't
run properly, send me net-mail and I'll try to help you get
it going.
* CAN I EXPECT UPDATES and OTHER UTILS? *
If you use TGavail for more than two weeks, you are required
to register. Registration is only $5.00 U.S. currency and
can be paid in the form of check or money order. DO NOT send
cash! Send all fees to:
Rod Wilson
P.O. Box 477
Luther, Oklahoma 73054-0477
As updates are required, I will provide the needed changes to
all registered users. If you don't register, don't expect
updates and future releases of new utilities. It's as simple
as that!!
Thanks for using TGavail!
