  3.                     The Blue Wave Offline Mail Reader

  10.    The following is a list of "fixes" to The Blue Wave Offline Mail Reader
  11.    since v2.00.  Some of these were not bugs, but the operation or feature
  12.    was made to work slightly differently (not quite a new feature, and not
  13.    quite a bug).  Some items were changed to be compatible with more
  14.    systems; and some of them were just plain, outright BUGS.

  16.    --------------------------- Changes in v2.05 ---------------------------
  17.  
  18.    * Fixed a bug that would cause the reader to exit to DOS in a very few
  19.      circumstances when the "Enter Mail in Any Area" menu option was used.
  20.  
  21.    * The reader now updates the "Replied: Y/N" field on the message
  22.      display screen immediately after replying to a message.
  23.  
  24.    * The reader now handles a ^Z in the Signature file properly.
  25.  
  26.    * The message header information was mis-aligned when pressing <Alt-P>
  27.      to print a message to the printer.
  28.  
  29.    * The "Replied Tag"  (~) is now updated on the Title Scan screen for
  30.      netmail message areas.
  31.  
  32.    * Message text that contained over 79 columns of text without a space
  33.      or a carriage return would cause the reader to do all sorts of
  34.      unpredictable things.  The reader now wraps lines containing 80+
  35.      columns of text to the next line.
  36.  
  37.    * When adopting signatures (Alt-A), the reader would lock up if more
  38.      than one was on the screen at one time.  The reader now only takes
  39.      the LAST signature line that is on the screen and imports it to your
  40.      signature file when <Alt-A> is pressed.

  42.    * The reader can now properly auto-detect the .PAK archive format.
  43.  
  44.    --------------------------- Changes in v2.01 ---------------------------
  45.  
  46.    * The reader's video routines didn't get along real well with some CGA
  47.      video cards.  The video routines were also changing the font of some
  48.      EGA/VGA systems.  The majority of these problems were verifiably fixed.
  49.      Hopefully they won't cause any more trouble on Not Quite Compatible
  50.      systems.
  51.  
  52.    * MONOCHROME systems had some trouble when a BWCOLOR.200 configuration
  53.      file was present.  If BWCOLOR.200 was present, the reader would load
  54.      it.  Some people had managed to get a BWCOLOR.200 from a color system
  55.      onto a monochrome system, making one heck of a mess.  For this
  56.      reason, the reader NO LONGER LOADS THE COLOR CONFIGURATION FILE when
  57.      a monochrome system is detected, or the -M(onochrome) switch is used
  58.      on the command line.  If a monochrome system *really* needs to load a
  59.      color configuration file, YOU MUST USE THE -O(verride) COMMAND LINE
  60.      PARAMETER.
  61.      EXAMPLE  C:> BWAVE -m -o    <==Forces monochrome, and READ color file

  63.    * The reader was sometimes rebooting machines when run under DESQview
  64.      and/or QEMM.  This has been fixed.
  65.  
  66.    * Once in a great while the reader would throw "garbage" to the editor
  67.      when quoting a message.  We contacted our local landfill, and now
  68.      have a contract to dump our garbage there.  We won't be getting rid
  69.      of it on your system any more.
  70.  
  71.    * Reader now remembers the last filename used when saving a message to
  72.      disk.  This operation can be modified, however, by using the "Set
  73.      SaveFile to AreaName" on the SETUP->Options Menu.
  74.  
  75.    * There was a bug that would not allow the editing of NETMAIL messages
  76.      from the "View, Edit, Kill" menu.  Squashed.
  77.  
  78.    * Sometimes the reader wouldn't let you edit ANY message from the
  79.      "View, Edit, Kill" menu.  That, too, has been fixed.
  80.  
  81.    * The reader now deletes *.BAK files from your REPLY directory before
  82.      compressing your upload (*.NEW) packet.  Some editors like to create
  83.      these files when you edit a text file.
  84.  
  85.    * The Conference/Area Name was left off when printing a message or
  86.      saving it to disk.  It is now printed in the message header.
  87.  
  88.    * The selection windows used within the reader were modified to perform
  89.      more consistently.  Please see WHATSNEW.201 for a description of the
  90.      keys to use to perform various movements.
  91.  
  92.    * Setting the reader's "Beep on Errors" option sometimes did not work.
  93.      The reader will now remain silent when this is turned OFF.
  94.  
  95.    * When items were tagged from the Purge Packet menu, the reader would
  96.      sometimes report an erroneous number of packets that it was about to
  97.      purge.  This has been fixed.
  98.  
  99.    * The reader no longer will accept an <ESC> key when you have "Save
  100.      Read/Reply Pointers" set to "Prompt", and it is asking you if you WANT
  101.      to save them.  You must answer "Y" or "N".  Why?  People were
  102.      slapping <ESC> to get back to the main menu a few too many times, and
  103.      sometimes they DID want to save their message pointers.  This was
  104.      requested by several users.
  105.  
  106.    * There were numerous other minor changes, but nothing that should
  107.      affect the operation of the reader.
