Thank you for taking the time to read this file and to evaluate the
shareware program BBSee. I believe that it will become one of your
favorite BBS utilities. Included with this package is a file
QUICKST.ART which will give you a very quick intro. into BBSee and is
MUST reading. To best understand the program you will need to read the
documentation, for if you don't you will miss a LOT of power.
The BBSee program and documentation is distributed in two .ZIP files
BBSEE##A.ZIP and BBSEE##B.ZIP. The ## refers to the current version,
which presently is 2.2 (hence BBSEE22A and BBSEE22B). Two other files
BBSEE##X and BBSEE##C (the 'extras' and 'conversion' files) are also
available but they may not be uploaded to every BBS, I leave it up to
users to distribute it. These files are not necessary for BBSee
operation, but they do add power to the use of BBSee. The latest
version of all BBSee files are available on the Synapse BBS as detailed
in BBSee's documentation.
1. WHAT FILES DO I NEED TO UPGRADE FROM VERSION 2.0?
The BBSEE22A.ZIP contains the significant portion of the upgrades to
version 2.2.
The changes in the BBSEE22B (since 20B) file are minor. The
documentation has of course been changed to cover the new features (as
covered in WHATS.NEW).
BBSEE22C.ZIP. The converstion utility from other programs has been
completely rewritten as CATCON.EXE. This one program now converts from
CatDisk, Intelicat, Wssindex, DiskTrak, and CUDM. In addition there is
a new small utility to convert the ASP catalog to a format which can be
imported into BBSee.
BBSEE22X.ZIP is the same file as BBSEE20X.ZIP with one exception.
BBC2PCB.EXE has been refined to allow output without the PCBoard '|'
character, and with a maximum column width of 78.
2. ATTENTION WILDCAT USERS:
Note that for Wildcat listings the AUT Import type is required with the
parameter 2NA in Import, or 2N in BBSee. If you wish to use Ronald
Cronenwett's Boyan macros with BBSee, use WC3 instead of AUT as the BBS
type, (and select Boyan as the file type)
Also see the documentation for various options of IMPORT.EXE which deal
with WildCat files. There seems to be MANY variations of Wildcat
format, so if BBSee doesn't support the Wildcat BBS you use, send me a
copy of it file list, and I'll see if I can add it to IMPORT. I have
not as yet seen any WC 3.5 formatted lists, so I cannot comment on
these.
3. AUTOMATED FILE TRANSFER PROGRAM USERS:
I have attempted to make BBSee conform to the file formats required by
CatCalls and Telix Square, although these formats have not been tested.
If you have problems or question let me know. Other formats for
standard protocols can be supported if you provide me with the
appropriate up/download file formats.
Note also that I have been advised that the file BBSee creates for
Access, needs to be modified as there are differences between what the
registered and unregistered user requires in a download file. Until I
get a sample of the format used by registered users, I will only be able
to support the distributed shareware version.
Robocomm users note that the support in BBSee is for creating download
agendas only. I will entertain more requests for Robocomm support if
registered users require it. Please indicate that you use Robocomm when
you register.
