FEATURES.TXT
I'm just gonna take this step by step, like the editor has... the LordMon
support section is written in CLEARLY at the bottom.
-[ ) - Drop to Lowest Record ]- Hit this once, and you'll drop to the
lowest record inside your level. Hit it
again, and drop to 1st level, 1st record.
-[ ) - Raise to Highest Rec ]- Hit this once, and you'll raise to the
highest record inside your level. Hit it
again, and goto to 12th level, 10th rec.
-[ I - Increase Dungeon Dif. ]- Increases the Dungeon difficulty - in
other words, the Monsters' strengths...
This is a powerful command, it tends
to up the difficulty of the dungeon a
slight amount. NOTE: this works on
level & global scale. This way, you can
make Level 10 not quite as hard as
everyone moans about. Also, it may not
move it up high enough for you --
experiment!
-[ D - Decrease Dungeon Dif. ]- Opposite of Increasing...<G> Will bring
the levels back to normal.
-[ G - Go Color Nuts! ]- Ugh. I don't look forward to this! <G>
Ok... Basically, to simplify these
routines a bit, I have created three main
ways to do it -- by Monster, Level, or
All Monsters. All of them do the same
thing -- which is to put color into your
monsters without having to do any work
yourself. I have one suggestion for
everyone who uses this routine --
EXPERIMENT! Do the colors on only one
record, and find what looks best. Then
do it globally. Of course, there's
always the UNDO (<S>trip Colors)! I'll
take the main routine apart:
1) Select Modifiers (Name, Weapon, Death)
By pressing N, W, or D, you toggle
whether or not to run the colors on
that particular field. Hit Q when
you're done selecting.
2) Random Multiplier (1 out of x)
Enter a number in here that will
determine whether or not color is
added. The lower the number, the
greater chance that color will be
added -- to 1, that is. (NOTE: in
the <T>otally Random routines, there
is another random multiplier built
in, so don't be surprised if you hit
"1" and it doesn't change every letter)
3) <T>otally Random or <W>ord Grouping?
When I started writing this, I
realized that some sysops would want
a completely washed out text, and
others would want one color per word,
not 2 different colors in one word.
So, if you want 1 color per word,
choose <W>ord Grouping (this just
means every word won't have 2 colors
in it -- it doesn't mean that every
word has a "unique" color), if you
don't mind craziness, choose <T>.
Keep in mind -- EXPERIMENT!
MORE NOTES ABOUT COLOR: Here are some
interesting/important things to know
about the coloring... First of all,
don't worry about if the color is
going to cut off the end of your line,
MonEditPro checks for that. Secondly,
it won't put two of the same color
codes in a row (it's not _that_
stupid!). Also, remember that your
UNDO button in the <S>trip Color key.
Oh, one more thing -- When you select
to do an in-depth color nuts, like
"ALL" in LordMon mode, you will see
"PROCESSING..." on the screen. This
will blink 12 times... Please do NOT
think that your system has crashed!
This is normal! Wait for it to
finish, this should NEVER crash!
-[ S - Strip Color Codes ] - This one's easy -- it'll just strip
the colors made on a monster/level/
all basis. Strips ALL colors, a good
"UNDO" for the Go Color Nuts!
-=≡ A Few More Notes About Speed ≡=-
Ok, I know that in places MONEDITPRO is slow. There's nothing
I can do about it, I've re-written all of the LordMon code for it at
least 4 or 5 times for each section. Anyway, when simply moving
around and editing, everything's superfast. However, when doing some
of the <I>/<D>/Color/Stripping, it gets slow -- it won't crash, in
LordMon mode, it just takes a bit. No TOO long...<G>... In normal
(non-LordMon) mode, everything's pretty fast...
-= The Usual Cry for Help! =-
Yes, it's me again. I need helps in writing my docs. However, on the
other lordware utils, the docs I get from people are just "beautified"...
Who cares how good it looks??? (I don't!) What I need is someone to:
A) take what I've said and make it CLEARER for people (I'll let my co-sysops
judge on these) and B) say what I've forgotten. If all you want to do is
rewrite a small SECTION of the docs, please, by all means, go ahead! If you
do a great job, you'll get a surprise! <G>

I'm going to try and make this simple... Bear with me! <G>
First of all, LordMon is a program created by Thomas Carlisle to add
more monsters to LORD. UNREGISTERED copies of this go up to 20 monsters
per level, registered, almost infinite. (Registration is only $3!)
Second of all, I think that this is a wonderful program, and MonEditPro
supports this format 110% (but only LordMon v1.0 presently - when the data
structures are updated, I will come out with a new version of MonEditPro).
If you are currently USING LordMon, say "YES" to the opening question
("LordMon detected, should I use MonEditPro's LordMon editing?"). If you
have it on your hard drive, but are not currently using the SHUFFLE.EXE,
say NO to this.
If you have no idea about what I'm talking about, don't worry, if
MonEditPro does not detect any LEVEL*.DAT files, you won't have to even
THINK about it. But, please do, it's a great program! <G>
If you are interested in getting LordMon, please call Thomas Carlisle's
BBS, The TC Software BBS, (701) 727--4842 or (701) 727-6931. Both lines
support up to 14.4kbps.
