InstantNET is a free ISP providing internet access and email. It can be installed from two places - the autorun menu of the CITK CD or in the software section of the Getting Connected part of the CITK guide program.
The InstantNET setup will install the latest version of Microsoft Intenet Explorer, Outlook Express and multimedia enhancements on your machine - all configured to the InstantNET dial up. If you do not want to use InstantNET as your email service as you already have email set up on your computer, choose "Customise Your Browser" and select the "Without Outlook Express" option from the install program.
When the InstantNET setup has finished, you will find an icon on your desktop called InstantNET. Double-click on it. Connection Manager will install any components it needs from your Windows installation CD. Answer yes to any Version Conflict messages you receive. If any components were installed, your computer will reboot.
After reboot, double-click on the InstantNET icon to restart the Connection Manager. Enter a username and password - these can be anything you wish. Tick Save password and Connection Manager will store these so you will not have to type them every time you connect to the Internet. Tick Connect automatically and your computer will automatically connect whenever needed.
Click Properties. If you do not have a modem installed, the modem setup will be triggered. Once at the InstantNET Properties page, click the Phone Book button next to Phone Number and select the (0845) number.
Click OK twice to return to the Connection Manager main page and click Connect.
You should now be able to browse the Internet with Internet Explorer.
The first page you connect to will allow you to sign up for your free email. The name you register here will also be the name of the Web site you create with Site Designer.
