- FrontDoor 2.20c Update notes
-
-
- This document contains information regarding the use of FrontDoor
- version 2.20c, and assumes that your CURRENT version is 2.20b. If
- this is not the case, or if you wish to obtain a new set of disks
- for 2.20c, please contact the retailer where you purchased
- FrontDoor for instructions.

-
- Packing List
-
-
- This patch update contains the following files:
-
-
- 220B220C.RTP Patch file
- FD.EXE FrontDoor Mailer executable
- FM.EXE FrontDoor Editor executable
- FDSETUP.EXE FrontDoor SETUP executable
- README.1ST This file
-
-
- Required files
-
- Apart from the FrontDoor 2.20b files, you also need PATCH.EXE from
- the 2.20b patch archive.
-

-
-
- Applying the patch
-
-
- These changes can be carried out for you by taking the Step-by-Step
- Procedure outlined below. CAUTION! This procedure will replace and
- modify your FrontDoor program files. If the upgrade fails for some
- reason, you are likely to find a fresh backup very useful!
-
- Therefore:
-
- 1. Backup your complete FrontDoor 2.20b system!
-
- Should you choose to ignore the above, at least copy the
- three system configuration files mentioned above.
-
- 2. Copy the 220B220C.RTP and PATCH.EXE files, supplied herein,
- to the directory where your original (FrontDoor 2.20b) copies
- of FD.OVR and FM.OVR are stored. This directory is hereafter
- referred to as the BINDIR.
-
- 3. Change the current directory to the directory to where you
- copied the 220B220C.RTP and PATCH.EXE, and execute the patch
- utility by typing:
-
- PATCH 220B220C<Enter>
-
- Upon successful completion, you should delete 220B220C.RTP.
- Note: if BINDIR resides on a virtual disk (i.e. RAMdisk), you
- must also replace the "hard" copies of the *.OVR files with
- the new ones.
-
- 4. Copy the new FD.EXE, FDSETUP.EXE and FM.EXE to the directory
- where your FrontDoor 2.20b program files are stored. By doing
- so, you will effectively replace the old files with those
- supplied herein.
-
- 5. Since this upgrade is distributed as program patches via modem,
- to be applied on already installed copies of the FrontDoor
- 2.20b program files, you will not have Original Program
- Diskette(s) for the upgraded software. Be sure to make a backup
- of your new installation! Please, contact your dealer if you
- wish to receive an offer to update your original diskette(s).

-
-
- Changes from version 2.20b
-
-
- GLOBAL
-
- - .EXE files are no longer compressed with PKLITE for several
- reasons, of which the biggest one is that .RTPatch doesn't
- work very well on these files. Future patches will not need
- to include new .EXE files since it will be possible for
- .RTPatch to upgrade those as well.
-
- - Added support for NOCDCHK command-line parameter and FDOPT
- setting. Apparently some environments cannot properly handle
- the automatic CD-ROM device check that is used in FrontDoor,
- if NOCDCHK is used, the automatic CD-ROM device check is
- disabled.
-
- FDSETUP
-
- - The password specified for the various protect options in
- FDSETUP was forced to uppercase by FDSETUP, while the Mailer
- treats the entered password case INsensitive.
-
- MAILER
-
- - Fixed carrier detect (or lack thereof) problem with internal
- ZyXEL Fax receiving code and corrected some cosmetics.
-
- - The log level for "Rescan requested" message has been changed
- from '+' to ' ' (debug).
-
- EDITOR
-
- - The Editor would not accept folder numbers greater than 255
- to be entered in the Folder selection screen (<AltF> and
- <CtrlF>).
