  6.         This document contains information regarding the use of FrontDoor
  7.         version 2.20c, and assumes that your CURRENT version is 2.20b. If
  8.         this is not the case, or if you wish to obtain a new set of disks
  9.         for 2.20c, please contact the retailer where you purchased
  10.         FrontDoor for instructions.

  18.         This patch update contains the following files:

  22.           FD.EXE         FrontDoor Mailer executable
  23.           FM.EXE         FrontDoor Editor executable
  24.           FDSETUP.EXE    FrontDoor SETUP executable

  28.         Required files

  30.         Apart from the FrontDoor 2.20b files, you also need PATCH.EXE from
  31.         the 2.20b patch archive.

  36.         Applying the patch
  37.  
  38.  
  39.         These changes can be carried out for you by taking the Step-by-Step
  40.         Procedure outlined below. CAUTION! This procedure will replace and
  41.         modify your FrontDoor program files. If the upgrade fails for some
  42.         reason, you are likely to find a fresh backup very useful!
  43.  
  44.         Therefore:
  45.  
  46.           1.  Backup your complete FrontDoor 2.20b system!
  47.  
  48.               Should you choose to ignore the above, at least copy the
  49.               three system configuration files mentioned above.
  50.  
  51.           2.  Copy the 220B220C.RTP and PATCH.EXE files, supplied herein,
  52.               to the directory where your original (FrontDoor 2.20b) copies
  53.               of FD.OVR and FM.OVR are stored. This directory is hereafter
  54.               referred to as the BINDIR.
  55.  
  56.           3.  Change the current directory to the directory to where you
  57.               copied the 220B220C.RTP and PATCH.EXE, and execute the patch
  58.               utility by typing:
  59.  
  60.                 PATCH 220B220C<Enter>
  61.  
  62.               Upon successful completion, you should delete 220B220C.RTP.
  63.               Note: if BINDIR resides on a virtual disk (i.e. RAMdisk), you
  64.               must also replace the "hard" copies of the *.OVR files with
  65.               the new ones.
  66.  
  67.           4.  Copy the new FD.EXE, FDSETUP.EXE and FM.EXE to the directory
  68.               where your FrontDoor 2.20b program files are stored. By doing
  69.               so, you will effectively replace the old files with those
  70.               supplied herein.

  72.           5.  Since this upgrade is distributed as program patches via modem,
  73.               to be applied on already installed copies of the FrontDoor
  74.               2.20b program files, you will not have Original Program
  75.               Diskette(s) for the upgraded software. Be sure to make a backup
  76.               of your new installation! Please, contact your dealer if you
  77.               wish to receive an offer to update your original diskette(s).

  82.         Changes from version 2.20b

  85.           GLOBAL

  87.             - .EXE files are no longer compressed with PKLITE for several
  88.               reasons, of which the biggest one is that .RTPatch doesn't
  89.               work very well on these files. Future patches will not need
  90.               to include new .EXE files since it will be possible for
  91.               .RTPatch to upgrade those as well.
  92.  
  93.             - Added support for NOCDCHK command-line parameter and FDOPT
  94.               setting. Apparently some environments cannot properly handle
  95.               the automatic CD-ROM device check that is used in FrontDoor,
  96.               if NOCDCHK is used, the automatic CD-ROM device check is
  97.               disabled.

  99.           FDSETUP
  100.  
  101.             - The password specified for the various protect options in
  102.               FDSETUP was forced to uppercase by FDSETUP, while the Mailer
  103.               treats the entered password case INsensitive.
  104.  
  105.           MAILER
  106.  
  107.             - Fixed carrier detect (or lack thereof) problem with internal
  108.               ZyXEL Fax receiving code and corrected some cosmetics.
  109.  
  110.             - The log level for "Rescan requested" message has been changed
  111.               from '+' to ' ' (debug).
  112.  
  113.           EDITOR
  114.  
  115.             - The Editor would not accept folder numbers greater than 255
  116.               to be entered in the Folder selection screen (<AltF> and
  117.               <CtrlF>).
