- Thank you for trying WoodyWare's InterBBS Phase 2. The files in this
- archive contain:
-
- PHASE2.DOC - This Documentation
- QUERY1.EXE - Search and Query Exec
- MAIL.CFG - Mail configuration example
- NODE.DAT - Sample uplink/downlinks
-
- Briefly, here is what Phase 2 InterBBS does. If a user in Ufobase
- enters a search word to search for on other BBSes Ufobase will create a *.UQU
- file containing that search word, who entered it and your address. Query1.exe
- will take these *.UQU files and create a netmail file attach for them; and
- send them to your uplinks/downlinks as defined in Node.dat. If a match is
- found on other systems, that system will send back a message to that user in
- Ufobase in the form of an ascii record that was found in either ufo.dat or
- fufo.dat.
-
- ABOUT NODE.DAT
- ----------------
-
- Your node.dat contains your uplink and downlink addresses (NOT YOUR OWN
- ADDRESS). It must be in the following format:
-
- ZONE
- NET
- NODE
- POINT
-
- etc.
-
- For example for a BBS participating InterBBS:
-
- 1
- 3607
- 21
- 0
- 1
- 3607
- 20
- 0
-
- REMEMBER THIS IS THE FILE FOR YOUR UP/DOWNLINKS FOR UFOBASE.
-
-
- ABOUT MAIL.CFG
- --------------
- This config file is read by QUERY1.EXE which is the heart of
- the networking part of Phase 2. It must be in the following format:
-
- YOUR NAME
- YOUR ZONE
- YOUR NET
- YOUR NODE
- YOUR POINT
- PATH TO YOUR UFOBASE DIRECTORY
- PATH FOR OUTBOUND .MSG MESSAGES
- PATH FOR INCOMING FILES AREA
-
- For Example for a BBS participating in an InterBBS network:
-
- Jerry Woody
- 1
- 3607
- 20
- 0
- c:\SBBS\XTRN\UFOBASE
- c:\fd\mail
- c:\fd\file
-
- QUERY1.EXE - Running Query1.exe is phase 2 interBBS. It will take any
- search words entered by the user in UFOBASE and send a message to participating
- BBSes as defined in your Node.dat. If a match is found Query1.exe on the
- receiving end of the query message will send a record back to the originating
- BBS where the user can then read and/or download any records found in the
- search. This is good for BBSes that are limited in disk space and don't wish
- to transmit large number of files over long distances. Query1.exe needs the
- following files to operate: MAIL.CFG, NODE.DAT [Dos MOVE command is used].
-
- RUNNING QUERY1.EXE
- ==================
- You should run QUERY1.EXE during your nightly maintenance event.
- QUERY1 will handle all outgoing query messages and incoming replies.
-
- QUERY1 reads the following files: Mail.cfg, Node.dat
-
- ! Phase 2 InterBBS is included free of charge with UFOBASE
-
- ! Phase 2 InterBBS can be run also with phase 1 and phase 3 InterBBS
