-
- This SXR43PU.ZIP file contains the following files:
-
- XPREADP.EXE - Protected Mode version of Silver Xpress.
-
- SXZIP.DLL - Silver Xpress Dynamic Link Library For ZIP Archiver.
-
- RTM.EXE - Run time DPMI manager. DO NOT RUN THIS. XPREADP.EXE
- will automatically RUN this for you.
-
- XPREADP.PIF - Windows 3.01 PIF file. PIF file setup to use
- 1 megabyte of memory.
-
- XPREADP.ICO - Windows 3.01 ICON
-
-
- Simply copy RTM.EXE, SXZIP.DLL and XPREADP.EXE to your Xpress
- sub-directory and type XPREADP.EXE to run protected mode Silver
- Xpress!
-
- You can rename XPREADP.EXE if you wish, but RTM.EXE and SXZIP.DLL must
- STAY the same.
-
- This SXR43PU.ZIP package is intended for those users who have already
- downloaded the real mode standard version SXR43.ZIP and wish to
- explore the protected mode version of Silver Xpress without the need
- to download the full blown protected mode package SXR43P.ZIP.
- SXR43P.ZIP is the same as SXR43.ZIP except for the XPREADP.EXE and the
- RTM.EXE.
-
- NOTE:
-
- To run protected mode, you must have a minimum of a 286, 386 or 486
- Personal Computer with at least 2 megs of RAM. You also need a DOS
- protected mode server such as Windows 3.1, OS/2, 386Max, QEMM386 with
- QDPMI, BlueMax, DR DOS, or any other DPMI server for DOS.
-
- If you don't have any of the above, you can download DPMI110.ZIP.
-
- DPMI110.ZIP contains a DPMI server from Borland International. Silver
- Xpress was designed around Borland's DPMI server so you will get
- optimum performance with it.
-
- USING QuarterDeck's QEMM and QDPMI.SYS
-
- Due to conflict between Borland's DPMI methods and QuarterDeck's DPMI
- memory manager, the odds are quite good there will be some problems
- with the version of QDPMI.SYS you have from QuarterDeck and Borland
- based DPMI applications such as Silver Xpress, Quattro, Paradox, OzCis
- and other popular applications. As of this writing, a new version of
- QDPMI.SYS v1.05 is being tested by QuarterDeck. All initial signs show
- that it is not as buggy as previous versions. Please check with
- QuarterDeck if you have problems with Silver Xpress. They are quite
- aware of the conflicts their faulty QDPMI system has with DPMI
- applications.
