  5.   Silver Xpress allows you to select the mail format for your reader.  You
  6.   may select the traditional OPX for powerful off-line reading or the more
  7.   primitive QWK format for people hooked on the QWK mail format.  Please
  8.   keep in mind, you will lose alot of the power in Silver Xpress by using
  9.   the QWK mail format.

  28. Silver Xpress OPX Mail Packets Type

  30.    With this option, you can select the mail packet format called OPX.
  31.  
  32.    OPX is a powerful mail format, invented by Santronics Software in 1988,
  33.    as a better alternative to the extremely primitive QWK mail format.
  34.  
  35.    OPX is the classic Silver Xpress Mail Format.  It is very powerful and
  36.    offers more mail processing capabilities such as 100% Fido capability
  37.    including netmail, echomail, faxing and forms, longer TO, FROM and
  38.    SUBJECT fields, larger MAIL creation, interactive offline configuration
  39.    and much more.

  41.    If you have the Silver Xpress Mail Reader, select the OPX mail format.
  42.    You may also use the Silver Xpress Mail Reader for QWK mail packets
  43.    created by other QWK mail systems as well.

  51.    With this option, you can select the mail packet format called QWK
  52.    invented by SparkWare.
  53.  
  54.    QWK started on PCBOARD systems as a very primitive mail format for
  55.    off-line reading.  It is NOT compatible with FIDO mail.  It has short
  56.    TO, FROM, and SUBJECT fields and quite often these fields are truncated.

  58.    QWK is a primitive mail format, but is very popular because it is a
  59.    simple and it is a free, public domain format.  Thus you will see QWK
  60.    on many BBS systems.

  62.    As an alternative to QWK, you should try the Silver Xpress OPX mail
  63.    format.  OPX is very powerful and offers more mail processing
  64.    capabilities such as netmail, faxing and forms, etc.
