- What is The Swap Shop Door?
- -------------------------
- Do you have a Dedicated Message Section on your BBS that
- Users Post items they wish to Buy, Sell, or Trade? Do your
- Users post Ads. and then never bother to update them? Do you
- sometimes have to Delete Ads. because of language, bad taste,
- etc.? The Swap Shop was written to make it as painless as
- possible for a Sysop to offer this service to his/her Users.
- The Swap Shop also generates ANSI and ASCII bulletins which
- you can display in your bulletin listing if you wish.
-
- This program is distributed as ShareWare. If at the end
- of 30 days you wish to continue using The Swap Shop you should
- register it. Once you have registered this door you will be
- provided with a Registration Code that will unlock features
- not available in the UnRegistered version.
-
- Disclaimer:
- -----------
- Use this program at your own risk. Any claim arising
- from the use of this program will NOT be honored. This program
- has been tested on three different computers and is run as a
- Door on Broad River Emporium without any problem whatever.
- However that doesn't mean that it could not possibly harm your
- equipment or BBS. The final Decision to use this Door on your
- BBS is your Responsibility.
-
- Distribution:
- -------------
- You may freely distribute this program as long as no
- modifications are made in to any of the files. You may not
- decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer any files
- contained in this package.
-
- Sysops are encouraged to post the ShareWare Version of
- this program on their BBS's as long as No Fee is charged
- explicitly for obtaining The Swap Shop Door. You may convert
- the Archive package of files to the format your BBS supports,
- ie. .ZIP, .ARC, .LZH, .ZOO, etc. as long as ALL Files contained
- in the original archive are included. You MAY NOT distribute
- your Registration Code which unlocks features not available
- in the UnRegistered version.
-
- No Fee may be charged for copying or duplicating this
- program without the Written permission of the Author.
-
- Hardware & Software Requirements:
- ---------------------------------
- To run this program you will need a copy of DOS 3.0 or
- later and an MS-DOS compatable computer. You will also need
- BBS software that generates Door.Sys, Callinfo.BBS, PCBoard.Sys
- or Dorinfo1.Def. If your BBS does not generate one of the formats
- listed then you will need a conversion utility that will create
- the formats.
-
-
- Instructions and Installation
- -----------------------------
- The Swap Shop Door Version 3.0 supports Wildcat's 2.X
- CALLINFO.BBS, Wildcat 3.0 and GAP BBS's DOOR.SYS, PCBoard 14's
- PCBOARD.SYS and RBBS's DorinfoX.Def The .CFG file must be edited
- to reflect your system information.
-
- Example .CFG files are included below.
-
- To run this door you need a DTR Patched BRUN40.EXE (NOT INCLUDED)
- program either in the directory you are running The Swap Shop from
- or in your DOS path.
- Programs such as WatchDog, etc. are not required since The Swap Shop
- monitors the ComPort and will reset the BBS in the event that a User
- drops carrier.
-
- To just test the door locally from DOS, type Swap3 LOCAL.
-
- * NOTE * When running the door in local mode the UnRegistered notice
- will still be displayed and special features are not
- available. This is because the .CFG file is not accessed
- in Local mode.
-
- Listed below are sample .CFG files. Modify them to your setup.

- for 3.0.
- NOTE 3 - Line 8 of the .CFG file will be NO if you do NOT lock
- the Comm port, 9600 or 19200 if you lock the Comm port
- at one of these speeds. Speeds in excess of 19200 are NOT
- supported.
- NOTE 4 - Line 9 is the Registration Code. Until the door is
- registered put any combination of numbers or letters
- here.
-
- Trouble Shooting:
- -----------------
- Ninety percent of the problems encountered in getting The Swap
- Shop to work involves the .CFG file. Many times the line number
- indicated in the error message will be the actual line number to
- check in the .CFG file. If you have problems getting the .CFG file
- setup properly you can download AutoCfg2.Zip which will greatly
- assist in the process. AutoCfg2.Zip is available on Broad River,
- EXEC-PC, The Wildcat Sysop's BBS, and others.
-
- Add Categories:
- --------------
- Once The Swap Shop is registered the Sysop has the option
- of defineing add categories. This is done by modifying the
- SWAPCAT.DAT file that is included to whatever categories. To
- use the default add categories remove SWAPCAT.DAT from the
- directory that you are running The Swap Shop from.
-
- Registration:
- -------------
- The Registered Version of The Swap Shop door differs from
- the UnRegistered version in the following features:
-
- (1) Registered version allows for an Unlimited number of Ads.
- vice 9 for the UnRegistered version.
- (2) The BBS name that The Swap Shop is registered to appears in
- the opening screen.

- Delete, or Renew an ad.

- unless Renewed prior to their expiration date.

- (6) Sysop decides what Ad categories he desires. This is done

- (8) Free Upgrades or revisions of The Swap Shop, provided there
