  1. Peeker (the program you're in) can let you view the contents of an
  2. archive (ZOO, ZIP, PAK, ARC, PKA, LZH, etc.) and read a text file from
  3. the archive. To list an archive's contents, hit [C].  Peeker will ask
  4. you for the filename you want to list.  Type the name of the archive
  5. (i.e. THISPROG.ARC), and press [Enter].  You may include wildcards (?
  6. and *) in the filename, in which case Peeker will prompt you for which
  7. matching file you really wanted to list.  You may enter the first part
  8. of a filename and press enter for similar results.

  10. After Peeker lists the archive's contents, it'll ask if you want to
  11. relist.  If you need to do so, answer Yes, otherwise hit No or just
  12. [Enter].  Peeker will then ask if you want to read a file from the
  13. archive.  This can be handy if you want to check the docs to see if the
  14. program is one you might be interested in downloading.  Answer Yes and
  15. Peeker will ask you for the name of the program to read (no wildcards
  16. this time).  Peeker then extracts the file and lets you read it.

  18. Peeker will also allow you to [L]ist the FILES.BBS of an area (the file
  19. that contains the names of and information on all files in the current
  20. area) if one is available.  This is done so that you don't have to jump
  21. back and forth between Peeker and the main BBS when viewing several
  22. files if you need to check on the filenames to list.

  24. Peeker can [E]xtract part of an archive for downloading.  This can be
  25. handy if you somehow misplaced a single file from an archive and don't
  26. want to download the whole thing again or want to extract the docs for
  27. offline review.  Tell Peeker the name of the file to extract from
  28. (wildcards are acceptable as when viewing contents), then tell it the
  29. file(s) to extract.  Peeker will extract the file(s), ask you which
  30. archive utility you want to repack the file(s) with, then repack them
  31. and exit so that the BBS can send the new archive to you.  It will have
  32. the name XFILE.* (* is different depending on which archiver you
  33. selected to repack--for instance, if you Zoo the files, the filename
  34. will be XFILE.ZOO).

  36. Peeker can let you [B]uild an archive from parts of other archives for
  37. downloading.  This has the same uses as [E]xtract, but can build an
  38. archive composed of parts of several other archives instead of just one.
  39. In this instance, you need to make a list of the files you want to
  40. extract from and the files contained in those archives which you want to
  41. extract. Then this option will let you extract from the archives until
  42. you've either reached the maximum component size allowed by your sysop
  43. or have extracted all the desired files from the archives. At that
  44. point, hit [Enter] alone when asked for the file to extract from, and
  45. the repacking and download will proceed as above.

  47. Remember that extracting and repacking can take a little time, so please
  48. be patient.
