  4. Welcome to the first NetModem/32 beta 1 release...

  6. There are a lot of changes, most which you can see just by running
  7. NetModem.exe.  This documentation will be brief since it's still a beta and
  8. doesn't require much brains at all to load.  First of all I want to apologize
  9. for taking so long to release.  I have school and a job to maintain so I don't
  10. have a lot of time nor do I have a partner or team of programmers.  I have
  11. worked very hard on this version so email me (drip@cris.com) with ANY comments
  12. or problems you have...  Also the web pages have changed.  You can use any of
  13. the following sites to reach the NetModem web pages.

  20. These web pages are designed and maintained by a good friend, Billy Ma; most of
  21. you know him as the co-author of the Illusion BBS software.  Dont email him
  22. asking questions about NetModem because he will probably ignore them and either
  23. delete them or forward them to me.  But he will take questions related to
  24. Illusion and NetModem if it focuses more on the Illusion end.  He also does web
  25. design and, as you can tell by the NetModem/32 page, is VERY good at it. Also
  26. check out his page at www.illusionbbs.com or illusion.home.ml.org.  And he may
  27. even be available for custom web page design, but he's not free!

  29. First of all, there is no more NetFOSSIL. But there is NU which is a TSR and
  30. utility, kind of like XU was for X00.  But you must load NU so do "NU ?" for
  31. help.

  33. Second of all, NO MORE REBOOTING! :)  I know a lot of people will like this
  34. one. All you have to do is put everything in the same directory and run
  35. NetModem.exe, configure it and, before you load your BBS, load NU and your all
  36. set to go.

  38. Third of all, NO MORE FREEWARE!  I know a lot of people won't like this one.
  39. I am still working on multinode versions, so when they are ready I will let
  40. you all know, but here are the registration prices for NetModem/32:

  43.   2  Nodes - $25
  44.   4  Nodes - $35
  45.   8  Nodes - $45
  46.   16 Nodes - $60 (If possible)

  48. Fourth of all, alot of people said that it was slow bouncing back characters
  49. sometimes. I have fixed what I can right now in NetModem but you can speed it
  50. up by toggling the Idle Sensitivity setting in the Windows properties , Misc
  51. section. To get to this, minimize the window then right click it. Set the Idle
  52. Sensitivity bar to about 3 from the left/low. (set it more towards low). I will
  53. do what I can to help speed it up more in future releases.

  55. Fifth of all, NetModem/NT is in development for all you NT fans. Hopefully it
  56. can be done...

  58. WARNING!! - Never load the BBS/FOSSIL Application without NetModem running!!!!

  62.    Load NetModem.exe edit the Config -> Ports FIRST! then after you config,
  63.    load NU with the correct parameters then your BBS and your set.
