  27.  the NON-commercial users also must pay for a license, second because
  28.  the US dollar has a very low transfer rate.

  34.  - Users of the MTA-package must accept this disclaimer of warranty:

  36.  - The MTA-package is supplied as is.  The author disclaims all
  37.    warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
  38.    the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
  39.    The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
  40.    which may result from the use of the MTA-package;
  41.  
  42.  - The MTA-package is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  43.    to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends,
  44.    but please do not give it away altered or as part of another system.
  45.    The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal
  46.    computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to
  47.    provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.

  49.  - If you find this program useful and find that you are using and
  50.    continue the use of the MTA-package after a 30 days trial period,
  51.    you must register the MTA-package as described below;

  53.  - Non-commercial can get a licence for the usage up to this release
  54.    of the MTA-package for a small amount of money. Look into the
  55.    details in REGISTER.MTA. Previous registered users will receive
  56.    a big reduction to upgrade to the newer versions. These users
  57.    should look into the details in UPGRADE.MTA.
  58.    For Non-commercial users there is a POSSIBILITY to submit to one
  59.    of the special contracts as explained in the file REGISTER.MTA.

  61.  - Commercial usage of MTA will cost somewhat more. Also, a so called
  62.    'closed' Bulletin Board System (a system where the user must pay
  63.    direct to the SysOp to get full access) is has to pay more than
  64.    a Non-commercial user. Both types of users should look into the
  65.    details in REGISTER.MTA;
  66.  
  67.  - The registration of the MTA-package will licence ONE copy for use on
  68.    any computer at any one time, as long as the usage confirms to the
  69.    type of registration you have done (so NON-commercial usage when you
  70.    have a non-commercial licence);
  71.  
  72.  - Anyone distributing the MTA-package for any kind of remuneration must
  73.    first contact the Author at the address above for authorization.

  75.  - You are encouraged to pass a copy of the MTA-package along to your
  76.    friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
  77.    copy if they find that they can use it;
  78.  
  79.  - Support on MTA, when used in a non-commercial environment, is
  80.    available by means of written letters or by entering the inter-
  81.    national echomaol area DISP;
  82.  
  83.  - Problems and suggestions can be entered in the FidoNet <tm> Echomail
  84.    conference <tm> called DISP (international). Entering this echo does
  85.    not exclude you of the duty to register the MTA-package, though users
  86.    who evaluate the product can enter the echo for questions;

  88.  - The MTA-package, all programs, the documentation and support-files is
  89.    copyrighted 1990 by Robert W. van Hoeven, PO. Box 131, Badhoevedorp
  90.    1170AC, Holland. All rights are reserved. You may copy this package
  91.    for backup purposes. Also you may copy and share unmodified copies of
  92.    the whole package, providing that the copyright notice is reproduced
  93.    and included on all copies.
  94.    Excluded from this statement are the support-files written by other
  95.    authors. Please refer to the documentation of these programs for
  96.    copyrights and licence agreements;

  98.  - It is forbidden to modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, de-
  99.    compile and/or disassemble the software in the MTA-package. Patching
  100.    the medium at places that carry the software is seen as a program
  101.    change and is also forbidden. It is forbidden to create a so called
  102.    'bypass' to skip the original introduction screens and delay. Also
  103.    it is forbidden to use such a 'bypass' unless supplied by the author
  104.    (Robert W. van Hoeven) himself;

  106.  - Performing any of the illegal actions as stated in the previous
  107.    lines, is a theft and no fair play to the author and, more important,
  108.    to the registered users;

  110.  - Bulletin Board Systems that distribute the MTA package can convert
  111.    the WHOLE package to any archive-system they like but all original
  112.    files must be included in the new archive. The MTA-package on the
  113.    Bulletin Board can contain at the most 2 extra files. These files
  114.    can only be a commercial for that Bulletin Board and/or validation
  115.    data that is presented as a service to all users and shall have no
  116.    other functions;

  118.  - After the normal trial period of 30 days, you must register the soft-
  119.    ware (see REGISTER.MTA) or you must remove it from your PC;
  120.  
  121.  - Comments, suggestions and bug reports are welcome and will be answered

  135.  There are several ways to register the usage of the MTA-package. All
  136.  is depending on the environment where MTA will be running.

  139.  NON-Commercial registration

  142.  When you use MTA in a non-commercial environment, the registration is
  143.  simple and rather cheap if you consider all the time I have put into
  144.  this product. As NON-commercial user, you must pay for a Non-commercial
  145.  license.
  146.  Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:
  147.  
  148.  - The license for running ONE copy of the MTA-package in a
  149.    NON-commercial environment on any computer at any one time;
  150.  
  151.  - A diskette with the latest copy of the MTA-package on 5 1/4 or
  152.    3 1/2 inch diskette (360/720 Kb);
  153.  
  154.  - A special file to enter the name of the owner (company) in the
  155.    header of MTA. This file can be used on subsequent releases, also
  156.    those releases obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS;
  157.  
  158.  - The license for NON-commercial usage can not be used in any other
  159.    environment than the NON-commercial environment itself. Upgrading
  160.    to a commercial license or to a license for a closed BBS can be
  161.    done by paying the difference in price between the current license
  162.    and the new license;

  164.  The license does NOT include any update service as described later
  165.  nor does it include the 90 days support service.

  167.  The price for a NON-commercial license is US $ 20,--.

  173.  When you use MTA in a commercial environment or when you use MTA on
  174.  a so called 'closed' BBS (this is a BBS where the users must pay to
  175.  the Sysop to get full access), you must pay for a license to use MTA.

  196.  commercial user or US $ 30,-- for a 'closed' BBS.

  202.  Both commercial AND non-commercial users can enter the update ser-
  203.  vice. International users who use MTA commercial or non-commercial
  204.  will benefit most of this feature. Paying the fee for update service,
  205.  entitles you to:

  207.  - Receiving every new release (minor AND major) for the period of
  208.    one year or 10 releases (which ever comes first) on diskette
  209.    media by first-class Airmail;
  210.  
  211.  - The updates will be send the same day the new release is submitted
  212.    to the support BBS (2:512/100 in Holland);
  213.  
  214.  - The diskettes are first-class (no no-name or white diskettes) and
  215.    will contain a special diskette label;
  216.  
  217.  The price for update service is US $ 30,-- for 5 1/2 inch (360Kb) dis-
  218.  kettes and US $ 40,-- for 3 1/2 inch (720Kb) diskettes.

  224.  - By postal money order or international money order. Normal cheques
  225.    (if they are not EuroCheques) will cost me extra money to transfer,
  226.    so add US $ 10,-- for transfer if you use such a cheque. Cheques
  227.    that can not be collected within a reasonable time, are returned to
  228.    the sender;

  237.     some kind of safety, so you can make sure yourself that I received
  238.     the money. When you send money, you can also send money in your
  239.     own currency, but make sure to use a valid exchange rate. This is
  240.     the exchange rate on the day you send the money to me;
