- One often overlooked requirement for a good station location is adequate
- electrical service. Eventually you will have several pieces of station
- equipment, as well as accessories, and all of them will require power to
- operate. Be sure that at least one, and preferably several electrical
- outlets are located near the future operating position and that the outlets
- provide the proper voltage and current for your rig. Although most modern
- radios require only a few amperes, you may run into problems if your shack is
- on the same circuit as the air conditioner and washing machine. The total
- current drawn at any one time must not exceed the rated limits. Also,
- remember that someday you will upgrade and may want to purchase a linear
- amplifier. If so, you should have a 220 volt line in the shack or the
- capability to get one. +
