  9. This file controls how newsgroups are read. Simply put, it contains the
  10. newsgroup name, a control character, and the highest message read. The control 
  11. character is a colon (":") for a newsgroup that you are subscribed to, and a 
  12. bang ("!") for a group you are not subscribed to. This file will be created 
  13. automatically the first time each user runs READNEWS.
