  5. Welcome to this intermediate release of FastEcho, which is a bug fix  of  the
  6. previous 1.45 release as of June 1995. Not all functions for 1.50  have  been
  7. implemented yet, a lot more features are  about  to  come,  amongst  them  is
  8. support for PCBoard and Wildcat! I expect to release 1.50 in the  first  half
  9. of 1996, probably in the first quarter.

  11. Due to internal changes the configuration file  structures  are  incompatible
  12. with the FASTECHO.CFG file of FastEcho 1.41/g and prior! Therefore you  can't
  13. use the old tools reading this file (FETool <=1.42,  FEConv <1.50 etc), there
  14. should be updates available real soon.  Contact your nearest FastEcho support
  15. sites, they always have the latest versions available.  The new configuration
  16. structures are available as FECFG145.ARJ (C and Pascal). These changes can be
  17. expected to be final, only small additions will be made  later  which  should
  18. keep any new version basically backwards compatible.

  20. As far as I know there are 3 message editors available which directly support
  21. FastEcho - timEd, GoldEd and Fleetstreet. The latest GoldEd beta6 is able  to
  22. read the new config file, so are the  latest  Fleetstreet  releases  and  the
  23. lastest timEd gamma. You can use  F2READER  (which  should  be  available  as
  24. F2R*.* at any FastEcho support site) to create so-called 'include-files'  for
  25. both, older GoldEd and timEd releases.

  27. Included you will find an update to the first public release of a  completely
  28. rewritten FastEcho manual (thanks to Marco Piazza who spent a  lot  time  and
  29. work on it)! There have been quite a lot  changes  since  the  1.45  release,
  30. though, it still may not be 100% accurate in some places. If you  find  some-
  31. thing, send your suggestions to Tobias Burchhardt (2:2448/400) or directly to
