- ■ LOOKUP-MODE
- ═══════════───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- FDRN has been designed to read and verify data from your FrontDoor or
- Intermail nodelist. You may call it with parameters or use it in inter-
- active mode. Note: in LOOKUP-MODE there is no "LIST-MODE" available (as
- it is in HISTORY-MODE)
-
- Examples:
-
- 1.) FDRN Peter Hampf
-
- will look for sysop-name "Peter Hampf" and wait for keystrokes.
-
- 2.) FDRN Peter Hampf /Auto
-
- same as 1.) but will NOT wait for keystrokes. (/Auto may be
- abbreviated up to /A)
-
- 3.) FDRN Peter Hampf>node
-
- searches the nodelist for ALL occurrences of sysop-name "Peter Hampf"
- and will print the output to file NODE. Will NOT wait for any
- keystroke.
-
- 4.) FDRN 2:246/1013
-
- searches the nodelist for the unique nodenumber 2:246/1013.
-
- 5.) FDRN 2:246/1013 /ROUTEINFO
-
- same as above, but will show in addition the routing-information for
- this node. (/ROUTEINFO may be abbreviated up to /R)
-
- 6.) FDRN
-
- interactive mode. You will be asked for a nodenumber or a sysopname
- to search for.
-
- 7.) FDRN >node
-
- =invalid=
-
- 8.) FDRN /?
-
- = show parameters and other stuff :-)
-
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- You may also want to use FDRN to verify the existence of a certain node via
- batchfile. FDRN will exit with errorlevel 0, if NO matching entry could be
- found and will increase the errorlevel for each single found entry.
-
- Example:
-
- FDRN Constantin Spiess>nul (no display at all)
- if errorlevel 1 goto OK
- echo NO ENTRY FOUND!!
- goto Ende
- :OK
- Echo Yep! This is a valid sysop-name!
- ... Process what you want here ...
- :Ende
-
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
-
- ■ HISTORY-MODE
- ════════════──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- To activate the HISTORY-MODE, you must use INBOUND and OUTBOUND as
- parameter. They may be abbreviated up to INB or OUT.
-
- Examples:
-
- FDRN INBOUND
-
- reads INB<task>.HIS and lets you walk through this file ... try it.
- If INB<task>.HIS does not exist, INBOUND.HIS will be assumed.
-
- FDRN OUTBOUND
-
- same as above, but for OUTB<task>.HIS
-
- FDRN OUTBOUND /ROUTEINFO (or FDRN OUT /R)
-
- same as above, but with routing-information.
-
- FDRN INBOUND /PATCH (or FDRN INB /PA)
-
- patches the real nodelist-data in your inbound history-file's LAST
- entry. Does NOT require ANY keystroke.
-
- FDRN INBOUND /PA /ALL
-
- same as above, but patches ALL entries!
-
- FDRN INBOUND /PA /ALL /NLC
-
- same as above, but will NOT patch the lastcaller-infofile
- LAST<task>.FD/IM.
-
- FDRN OUTBOUND /PA /ALL /NLC
-
- same as above, but patches OUTBOUND history file.
-
- FDRN INBOUND /PATCH /NOBOSS (or FDRN INBOUND /PA /NOB)
-
- paths last inbound history entry. If the entry could not be found
- AND it is a point entry, FDRN will by default look for the bossnode
- and insert "Point of: <boss>" in the historyfile. With /NOBOSS,
- FDRN will add "[UNL] " in front of the systemname.
-
- FDRN INB | LIST /S
-
- reads inbound-history file and redirects output to LIST.
-
- FDRN INB /TASK=3>in3.txt
-
- reads inbound-history from line #3 and redirects output to IN3.TXT.
-
- FDRN INB /REPORT=2:241/1090.4 /TASK=2
-
- creates an inbound-report for my .4 and line 2. See a bit later in
- this document where FDRN will write this stuff to ... .
-
- > Note: if you are using the parameter /PATCH (which may be abbreviated up
- to /PA) in conjunction with INBOUND or OUTBOUND, NO keyboard input
- will be required. You may use this for your import- and/or export
- batchfiles to ever patch FD's history files after every inbound
- and/or outbound call!
-
- While in HISTORY-MODE, there are several keys available. (e.g. patch
- entries, pop up a list, goto entry directly, switch from inbound to
- outbound-mode and vice versa, switch to line-number ... and so on.)
-
- For available keys in interactive history-browsing mode press F1 on the
- mainscreen! Some of them must be explained, though ...:
-
- TEMPFILE: while in LIST-MODE (TAB) you can tag some entries and write
- them to a temporary .HIS - file (OUTBFDRN/INBFDRN.HIS).
- This is only intended to have some kind of "storage" or just
- to have a better overview ... . To do so, press W (one
- entry), ALT-W (all tagged entries) or CTRL-W (all entries).
- The TEMPFILE itself can be loaded when NOT in LIST-MODE by
- pressing T. The D-key deletes the TEMPFILE.
-
- Example:
-
- - switch to line 1 ("1" or "0")
- - switch to list-mode (TAB)
- - tag all entries "2:241/1090"
- - press ALT-W
- - press Tab (back to normal HISTORY-MODE)
- - switch to line 2 ("2" or "0")
- - switch to list-mode (TAGs are already active)
- - press ALT-W again
- - press Tab (back to normal HISTORY-MODE)
- - press T to select TEMPFILE
-
- Now you can see the TEMPFILE with all entries for 2:241/1090
- on line 1 and 2. To delete the TEMPFILE, switch back to
- normal INBOUND (or OUTBOUND)-HISTORY-MODE and press D.
-
-
- REPORT: while in LIST-MODE you can write one entry (E), all entries
- (ALT-E) or all tagged entries (ALT-E as well) to a file
- called FDRN_ASC.TMP, which will always be located in Front-
- Door's directory (the same as the .HIS files!).
-
- If you are using ALT-E, FDRN will write all tagged entries
- (or all, if nothing has been tagged before!) to this file and
- calculate a summary.
-
- This mode can be forced from the commandline by adding the
- parameter /REPORT{=nodenumber/name}. e.g.:
-
- FDRB INBOUND /Report=.4
- FDRB INBOUND /Report=Peter /Task=3
-
- The /Report - parameter causes FDRN to exit immediately after
- creating the report. Note: the FDRN_ASC.TMP file will
- always be appended!
-
-
- LOGFILE-EXCERPT:
-
- In HISTORY mode you may press L (or F3 or CTRL-Return) to
- inspect the logfile for this entry. FDRN will try to find the
- corresponding data. If it was successful, the part of the
- logfile will be shown in colorized mode. While you are
- viewing the logfile, you may write it's contents to a file!
-
- FDRN will ask you whether to overwrite an existing file AND will
- ask you whether you want the pathinformation to be stripped _or_
- to be replaced by *PATH*\! (This string may be overruled by
- setting the DOS environment variable SET FDRN_P=<new_string>)
- This is very useful if you are planning to post the logentry but
- do not want everybody to see your directory-structure... .
-
- When FDRN prompts you for "Username/nodenumber/INBound/OUTbound" , you may
- insert INB (or INBOUND or OUT or OUTBOUND) to enter the HISTORY MODE.
-
- If you have any trouble with the automatically detection of redirection,
- you may use the parameter /NOREDIR or set the environmentvariable SET
- FDRN=NOREDIR to force FDRN to ignore redirections.
-
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- ■ PARAMETER-SUMMARY
- ═════════════════─────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- For HISTORY-MODE:
- -----------------
-
- /Task=x use this for HISTORY-MODE, if you are running FDRN from a
- workstation that has no SET TASK= variable defined (or an
- invalid one).
-
- /Patch patch real nodelist-data in you historyfile(s)
-
- /All patch ALL entries (default: only the last one)
-
- /NOBoss do NOT use BOSS-data for unlisted points (only for the
- "location"-field), but patch "[UNL]" instead.
-
- /SystemFirst write the SYSTEM's name first to history files.
- Default: SYSOP-name.
-
- /NLC do not patch LASTC<task>.FD
-
- /REPORT=nn create a report for nn (number or name)
- Cannot be used together with /Patch!
-
- /Hot=<mins> Specify the age in minutes for an entry to be shown as
- "hot" entry. This does only effect the color on screen.
- The default value is 20. This means: in HISTORY-mode every
- entry younger than 20 minutes will be shown with a different
- color (only for the first line on screen, but it's useful,
- believe me :-)
-
-
- GENERAL:
- --------
-
- /28 start in 28-row mode.
- /33 start in 33-row mode.
- /50 start in 50-row mode.
- /M force MONO (b/w) mode.
- /NOColor do NOT use FDRN.COL, even if it is present.
- /Quiet don't beep.
- /Auto do not wait for keystrokes.
- /Routeinfo show routing-information for found nodes.
- /Nodelist=pp path to your FD-nodelist. There should be NO need to use
- this parameter!!!
- /Noredir ignore output-redirections (in case of trouble)
-
-
- ■ ADDITIONAL STUFF
- ═════════════════─────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- The following ENVIRONMENT variable is known by FDRN:
-
- - FDRN_P -> you may choose to replace the pathinformation out of
- the logfile ("W" in LOGFILE-MODE). The default string
- for this is "*PATH*\". This can be redefined using
- SET FDRN_P=<new_string> from DOS!
-
-
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- ■ LAST STUFF
- ══════════────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
- ∙ FDRN has been developed using Borland Pascal 7.01, Turbo Assembler 3.2,
- TSE 2.0 (the really best editor around!), coffee, beer, Drum ... and the
- patience of Sally ... <g>
-
- ∙ FDRN should be fully DesqView-aware and release timeslices if it's idle.
-
- ∙ If present either in the current or in the homedirectory of FDRN, the file
- FDRN.COL will be read. You may define your own colors here. For an example
- see (and edit) the file COL_EXAM.PLE. The first 20 lines that are beginning
- with a valid numeric value will be read as color-definitions. Others are
- simply ignored.
-
- ∙ There are no restrictions in the unregistered version. The only difference
- is an annoying window which reminds you from time to time to think about
- registering. This window will not disturb you more than 4 times ;-))
