  1. The following fixes and changes between 2.20 and 2.20a apply:
  2.  
  3.   FDSETUP
  4.     - The status (help) information for the "Users" menu option in
  5.       the Folder Manager (edit mode) was displaying an incorrect
  6.       help string.
  7.  
  8.     - Added support to configure the automatic fax print function.
  9.  
  10.     - Various other cosmetic fixes.
  11.  
  12.   MAILER
  13.     - Swapping to disk was broken.
  14.  
  15.     - During certain conditions, the Mailer wouldn't detect an out-of-
  16.       memory condition when an external request processor was used to
  17.       handle file requests.
  18.  
  19.     - Some of the paths and filenames that were supposed to support
  20.       the $TASK$ macro did not do so properly.
  21.  
  22.     - Added ability to automatically print received faxes after the
  23.       session has completed. This is only supported if you also use
  24.       the internal fax receive function.
  25.  
  26.     - The mailer could not successfully execute keyboard macros that
  27.       were stacked and included a "CD" DOS command. E.g.
  28.  
  29.         CD \JUNK;JUNKPROG
  30.  
  31.       because the program restored the original directory between
  32.       each executed command. The mailer now restores the original
  33.       path after the whole macro sequence has been executed.
  34.  
  35.     - The NOYOOHOO, NOZAP, and NODZA parameters were only recognized
  36.       if specified in the FDOPT environment variable, but not if they
  37.       were specified on the command-line.
  38.  
  39.     - Two new macros, =I  (remote system's phone number) and =J
  40.       (remote system's nodelist flags), were added to the external
  41.       request processor (ERP) and Service Request interface.
  42.  
  43.     - The Mailer did not scan the secure inbound file directory for
  44.       mail packets upon startup.

  47. Changes from version 2.20a
  48.  
  49.  
  50.           GLOBAL
  51.  
  52.             - Added support for 21600, 24000, 26400, and 28800 baudrates.
  53.  
  54.             - Added automatic recognition of CD-ROM drives (controlled by
  55.               MSCDEX or similar driver) so that path resolution is not
  56.               attempted on such pathnames. If you used NORES just to get
  57.               around this problem, you can now stop using it.
  58.  
  59.           FDSETUP
  60.  
  61.             - The "Delay before first call" option has been moved to the
  62.               event behavior to allow this to be set for specific events.
  63.  
  64.             - The minimum "Seconds before passing to BBS" has been restored
  65.               to 11 as requested by a few users. The default, however, is
  66.               still 30.
  67.  
  68.             - Because the modem response handling in the Mailer has been re-
  69.               written, you may have to change your Answer Delay setting if
  70.               you use the Manual Answer and LDFRS features of the Mailer.
  71.  
  72.             - Added "NoDial" setting to Modem Manager. If the Mailer makes a
  73.               match with an entry that has this flag set, the dial attempt is
  74.               immediately aborted and the mail bundle is placed on Hold. This
  75.               allows you to prevent the Mailer from calling specific systems
  76.               based on nodelist flags, baudrates, or specific network
  77.               addresses. This is not supported in the Terminal.
  78.  
  79.             - The use of the '|' and '/' characters in modem responses is no
  80.               longer required to allow the Mailer to distinguish between,
  81.               for example, CONNECT 1200 and CONNECT 12000; nor is the '|'
  82.               character required after the "CONNECT 300" definition, if
  83.               previously defined as "CONNECT|".

  85.     
  86.           MAILER
  87.  
  88.             - The Mailer will now open all files in ReadOnly/DenyNone mode
  89.               when it is transmitting files. This should prevent sharing
  90.               violations that could previously occur on a multi-line system
  91.               where external protocol drivers such as DSZ are involved.
  92.  
  93.             - A bug in the Modem7 filename receiver code was found and
  94.               corrected.
  95.  
  96.             - A bug in the Telink timestamp handling was found and corrected.
  97.     
  98.             - The FDSERVER function no longer uses the ASCII 254 character
  99.               when adding entries to the log. Instead it uses the '&'
  100.               character.
  101.  
  102.             - The bundle manager, <AltB>, would not allow you to view the
  103.               information about a mail bundle if the destination system could
  104.               not be found in your nodelist database.
  105.  
  106.             - The NOFTSC1 command-line switch and FDOPT option has been
  107.               renamed to NOFTS1 to conform with FDSETUP's Security Manager
  108.               screen.
  109.  
  110.             - The "Return Receipt" messages generated by the Mailer now
  111.               correctly contains MSGID and REPLY extended message
  112.               information.
  113.  
  114.             - The fax files created by the Mailer are now named in a slightly
  115.               more readable way. The format DDMMMNNN.FAX will be used, where
  116.               DD is the current day number, MMM is the current month (JAN,
  117.               FEB, MAR, etc.), and NNN a sequence number 1-999.
  118.  
  119.             - The "Lock Keyboard" (<AltL> or /L: command-line parameter)
  120.               function is NO longer case INsensitive, e.g. specifying
  121.               "KBDlock" will not unlock the keyboard if it was locked with
  122.               "kbdlock".
  123.  
  124.             - The password for the "Protection" options in FDSETUP > Mailer
  125.               are NO longer case INsensitive, e.g. specifying "ExitLock" will
  126.               not allow <AltQ> if the password specified in FDSETUP is
  127.               "EXITLOCK".
  128.  
  129.             - The "FILES" and "SECFILES" paths defined in FDSETUP now support
  130.               the $TASK$ system macro.
  131.  
  132.             - The "LIST", "SECLIST", "ALIAS", "SECALIAS", and "MESSAGE" path-
  133.               name definitions for file requests now support the $TASK$
  134.               system macro.
  135.  
  136.             - The 'v' (lowercase V) character forces the Mailer to lower the
  137.               DTR signal and the '^' character forces the Mailer to raise the
  138.               DTR signal, when encountered in any of the modem command
  139.               strings. The '`' character is translated to a 0.5s pause ('~'
  140.               is still a 1.0s pause). This is also supported in the Script
  141.               language and the Terminal's initialization string.
  142.  
  143.             - Because of the above changes, the command "SENDNOXLAT" has been
  144.               added to the script language. This command will transmit the
  145.               specified string untranslated to the modem. Mnemonics (i.e.
  146.               <CR>) are still, however, supported by the SENDNOXLAT command.
  147.  
  148.             - The "PROTOCOL:" and "COMPRESSION:" modem responses returned by
  149.               some modems are now supported and translated to one-line
  150.               messages such as LAPM (for LAP-M), MNP, etc.
  151.  
  152.             - The following new macros have been added to the External
  153.               Request Processor and Service Request interface:
  154.  
  155.                 =M  Same as =F but without a path (the file is always located
  156.                     in the FrontDoor SYSTEM directory).
  157.  
  158.                 =W  Translates to "LISTED" or "UNLISTED" depending on whether
  159.                     or not the remote system was found in your Nodelist
  160.                     Database. For outbound sessions, =W will always
  161.                     translated to "LISTED".
  162.  
  163.                 =Q  Same as =R but without a path (this is only available in
  164.                     the ERP interface).
  165.  
  166.                 =E  Same as =T but without a path (this is only available in
  167.                     the ERP interface).
  168.  
  169.                 =Y  The current TASK= setting. For the Shareware version,
  170.                     this will always be '0' (zero).
  171.  
  172.           TERMINAL
  173.  
  174.             - Added support for "Auto Doorway Mode". If enabled, the Terminal
  175.               will enter raw keyboard mode upon receipt of the <Esc>[=255h
  176.               sequence and exit raw keyboard mode upon receipt of the
  177.               <Esc>[=255l sequence. The terminal emulation protocol must be
  178.               ANSI for these sequences to be honored by the Terminal.
  179.  
  180.             - The Terminal no longer enables FOSSIL software flow control.
  181.               The Ctrl-S (XOFF) and Ctrl-Q (XON) keys will, however, function
  182.               as before.
  183.  
  184.             - The ten minute timer, after which the Terminal returns to the
  185.               Mailer if it was invoked with <Alt-J>, is now configurable in
  186.               the Terminal settings screen in FDSETUP.
  187.  
  188.             - The Terminal Phone Directory would not allow you to add more
  189.               than 100 entries. The correct limit is 400 entries.
  190.  
  191.             - The Terminal now includes the complete time elapsed since the
  192.               start of a connection as opposed to just minutes and seconds.
  193.  
  194.             - <Alt=> can now be used to toggle the state of "Raw mode". This
  195.               means that <Alt=> cannot be transmitted in "Raw mode". This
  196.               was added for use in those environments where ScrollLock has a
  197.               defined function.
  198.  
  199.           EDITOR
  200.  
  201.             - A new editor macro has been added (~W). It is identical to the
  202.               ~X (Export to file) macro with the exception that it does not
  203.               include the message header information. This can be used with
  204.               spell checkers and external conversion and translation
  205.               utilities.

  207. Changes from version 2.20b
  208.  
  209.  
  210.           GLOBAL
  211.  
  212.             - .EXE files are no longer compressed with PKLITE for several
  213.               reasons, of which the biggest one is that .RTPatch doesn't
  214.               work very well on these files. Future patches will not need
  215.               to include new .EXE files since it will be possible for
  216.               .RTPatch to upgrade those as well.
  217.  
  218.             - Added support for NOCDCHK command-line parameter and FDOPT
  219.               setting. Apparently some environments cannot properly handle
  220.               the automatic CD-ROM device check that is used in FrontDoor,
  221.               if NOCDCHK is used, the automatic CD-ROM device check is
  222.               disabled.
  223.  
  224.           FDSETUP
  225.  
  226.             - The password specified for the various protect options in
  227.               FDSETUP was forced to uppercase by FDSETUP, while the Mailer
  228.               treats the entered password case INsensitive.
  229.  
  230.           MAILER
  231.  
  232.             - Fixed carrier detect (or lack thereof) problem with internal
  233.               ZyXEL Fax receiving code and corrected some cosmetics.
  234.  
  235.             - The log level for "Rescan requested" message has been changed
  236.               from '+' to ' ' (debug).
  237.  
  238.           EDITOR
  239.  
  240.             - The Editor would not accept folder numbers greater than 255
  241.               to be entered in the Folder selection screen (<AltF> and
  242.               <CtrlF>).
