  2. Update information for version 2.20a - June 27, 1993
  3. ----------------------------------------------------
  4.  
  5.   Version 2.20a updates three files:
  6.  
  7.     FD.EXE              Mailer executable
  8.     FD.OVR              Mailer overlay file
  9.     FDSETUP.EXE         FrontDoor configuration utility
  10.  
  11.   This patch update kit will not work properly if you do not currently
  12.   have FrontDoor 2.20 installed. If you are still running FrontDoor
  13.   2.10, you must either obtain a new set of original disks with 2.20,
  14.   or the patch update kit from version 2.10 to 2.20 available from an
  15.   authorized FrontDoor dealer or distributor.

  18.   To update to 2.20a, follow these instructions:
  19.  
  20.     1.  Make a copy of the directory where your FrontDoor binaries
  21.         (executables) are permanently stored. This is for safety
  22.         reasons in case the PATCH program fails to restore the original
  23.         files in the event of a problem.
  24.  
  25.     2.  Place FD220A.RTP and PATCH.EXE in the directory where FD.OVR is
  26.         permanently stored.
  27.  
  28.     3.  Issue the following command from the DOS command-line:
  29.  
  30.           PATCH FD220A.RTP<Enter>
  31.  
  32.     4.  Replace your existing FD.EXE and FDSETUP.EXE files with the
  33.         corresponding files supplied with this update.
  34.  
  35.     Note that if you are using another disk or directory to
  36.     temporarily store FD.EXE, FD.OVR, and/or FDSETUP.EXE, you must
  37.     copy the new files to that disk or directory as well.

  40.   The following fixes and changes between 2.20 and 2.20a apply:
  41.  
  42.   FDSETUP
  43.     - The status (help) information for the "Users" menu option in
  44.       the Folder Manager (edit mode) was displaying an incorrect
  45.       help string.
  46.  
  47.     - Added support to configure the automatic fax print function.
  48.  
  49.     - Various other cosmetic fixes.
  50.  
  51.   MAILER
  52.     - Swapping to disk was broken.
  53.  
  54.     - During certain conditions, the Mailer wouldn't detect an out-of-
  55.       memory condition when an external request processor was used to
  56.       handle file requests.
  57.  
  58.     - Some of the paths and filenames that were supposed to support
  59.       the $TASK$ macro did not do so properly.
  60.  
  61.     - Added ability to automatically print received faxes after the
  62.       session has completed. This is only supported if you also use
  63.       the internal fax receive function.
  64.  
  65.     - The mailer could not successfully execute keyboard macros that
  66.       were stacked and included a "CD" DOS command. E.g.
  67.  
  68.         CD \JUNK;JUNKPROG
  69.  
  70.       because the program restored the original directory between
  71.       each executed command. The mailer now restores the original
  72.       path after the whole macro sequence has been executed.
  73.  
  74.     - The NOYOOHOO, NOZAP, and NODZA parameters were only recognized
  75.       if specified in the FDOPT environment variable, but not if they
  76.       were specified on the command-line.
  77.  
  78.     - Two new macros, =I  (remote system's phone number) and =J
  79.       (remote system's nodelist flags), were added to the external
  80.       request processor (ERP) and Service Request interface.
  81.  
  82.     - The Mailer did not scan the secure inbound file directory for
  83.       mail packets upon startup.

  88.   This file and all other parts of the FrontDoor 2.20a patch update kit,
  89.   may not be distributed by any other party than authorized FrontDoor
  90.   dealers and distributors.
