- Get a cup of coffee! Actually, you better make a whole pot! Better yet, make
- sure you have a whole pound of grounds before you get started! It has been
- found that it does in fact take quite a bit of time to implement these mods!

- My GOLDEN GROUCH RULE:

- Take your time - read all the DOCS!

- I don't mind a bit helping out anyone running RBBS no matter what mods or
- things they might be doing. BUT, when it comes to the CDor mods, I want you
- to read ALL the files that I took the time to write because I feel they are
- important enough to know. Further, being a profession computer type person,
- I can tell everytime when someone asks me a question and they didn't read the
- DOCS! Nothing gets me more irate than having to sit somebody on my lap and
- read the DOCS to them because they think they shouldn't have to! Please
- don't make me grouch-out on you! I do want to help as best I can, but help
- yourself first. With the growing popularity of these mods, I am faced with
- giving more time to answering questions which I have already addressed here
- or elsewhere in the files within the DOCS.ZIP file!

- When you decide to use these mods, you are basically voiding your support for
- help from the STOCK RBBS convention. The CDOOR echo has been established
- and is available to anybody on FIDO or RBBSNet just for the purpose of
- expanding the Users Helping Users concept. Please consider joining this
- echo for support! Further, if you use these mods and further modify them
- yourself, and then have problems, rather than saying you are voiding your
- support from me, I will say that you better let ME know what you are doing
- |so I don't go into PANIC mode thinking I left some awful bug in these mods
- when it's really YOUR bug! Please be truthful!

- there has to be some concern for everyone - and that there's only 24 hours
- in a day and Remember....

- Good things don't happen over night - it will take you a couple days, maybe
- a week, to set the CDor mods up!

- A little background...
- ----------------------
- I've been fooling around with RBBS ever since 1986, when I first got a 300 bps
- modem and turned into a modem addict. I liked and still do like RBBS for it's
- 'UserWare' concept, and for it's tremendous versatility. Unlike other BBS
- packages, RBBS includes it's source, and that does make it special. Where
- other BBS packages leave sysops in the cold as to what they can do, RBBS lets
- you do what ever you want - you have the source! With that in mind, I started
- off by just doing little cosmetic changes. A while ago, I was sent overseas
- to England for 3 long years where I didn't hear a carrier at all, the phone
- system was all different, and I couldn't afford to pay 300 dollars for a
- Brittish Spec accustic coupler 300 bps modem. So, I just played with the
- code, I had two computers, and two modems, and was able to test the changes I
- made as I did them. When I came back to America, I got right back into the
- RBBS world and got permission from my wife to get my own phone line. Well,
- actually, it was a trick - my mother-in-law kept complaining that the phone
- was always busy (I was online somewhere) and she could never call us up. I
- offered the solution of a second phone line, and it worked.

- So, I started playing with alias mods and then at work, I got a special
- assignment to a Computer Management Office. It HAD a SearchLight BBS, which
- I did not like, so, I changed it over to RBBS in about a week. The first big
- mod came up when we got a complaint that you couldn't enter part of a name of
- a person to send a message to. So Howard and I made the EFND (Easy Find) mod
- to do just that. About that time, I got in contact with Peter Eibl, who used
- the EFND mod in the Maple Mods, and very shortly after that, I was no longer
- a stock beta tester, but instead was on the Maple Team, and enjoying it.

- It's been fun helping Pete with the Maple Mods and fixing little bugs here and
- there. And even comming up with some neat other things too. And now I would
- like to think that I'm not moving on, but rather out exploring other
- possibilities - hence the CDor Mods.

- WHAT ARE THE CDOR MODS?
- -----------------------
- The CDor mods have all the features of Stock RBBS, except for Library support,
- AutoDownLoad Detect, Multi-Link, Voice Synthesizer, PCJr's internal modem and
- the Old Compac Plus. The reason for this is there's not enough code space with
- all the extra features and these stock RBBS features. So, these stock features
- that are considered obsolete where removed. All the added features are listed
- separatly in the file FEATURES.DOC.

- The problem with keeping the stock RBBS code, and adding my mods as well as the
- Maple Mods is that there was not enough code space to run RBBS. Fortunately,
- Scott McNay was working on making RBBS use Far String Space with the
- Professional Basic (PB) 7.1 compiler from Microsoft. With Scott's mods to
- the ASM routines used for RBBS, it was actually possible to have all these
- great features and still run RBBS.

- ALMOST FINISHED!
- ----------------
- So, here you are, the CDor mods represent a LOT of work, many hundreds of hours,
- and if it were not for all the group effort of all, this would never be.
-
- I have arranged the CDor Mods distribution file with internal ZIP files, with
- any file you might need in it's proper ZIP file. Each ZIP file represents
- a given subdirectory as RBBS is configured. The README file explains what each
- file is within the ZIP.

- GETTING STARTED:
- ----------------
- First you need to print out the DOCS that I have included here. PLEASE
- perform RTFM and avoid lots of problems later. Even skimming over them
- is better than not looking at them at all. As an RBBS sysop, you
- probably are already aware of the many things you have to do to set up
- RBBS. These mods are no different. Take the time!
-
- Second, back up your current RBBS system. Back up all your files which will
- be replaced by the files included in these mods. Preferably, you should just
- back up your entire system, making it very easy to revert back to your original
- setup if things go bad. It's your choice!
-
- Next, it's roll call! You MUST have these files which are not distributed
- with the CDor Mods, but are available on the Cellar Door RBBS as well as
- many other RBBS systems:

- BLED22.ZIP BLED 2.2 - used to merge CDor Mods with RBBS-PC
- source code to create the RBBS-PC/CDor version.

- RBBS-BAS.ZIP RBBS-PC 17.4 Distribution Archive - source code for

- SHROM20A.ZIP Needed to create a swap file when RBBS shells out for
- doors or file tests - there's not enough memory when
- RBBS shells out normally, so SHROOM will give back
- needed RAM by swapping RBBS to a file.

- If you are using the FMS FFS:
-
- RFM-120.ZIP Contains RFM.EXE File Maintenance Utility - RFM
- Merges are a part of the CDor Merges, but are optional.
- If you use the MAKEFIDX utility supplied with stock
- RBBS and want to continue using it, you do not need
- RFM. The CDor code 'knows' if your FFS is an RFM or
- stock FFS. You do not have to add the RFM Merges to
- | the CDor code - it's already in there. If you intend
- | to use the Times Downloaded mod, then RFM.EXE will
- | NOT be able to handle the modified FMS.DIR file, you
- | MUST use FMSFFS.EXE (in DIR.ZIP) for FMS maintenance.
- | Note that it is totally OPTIONAL to have any program
- | do maintenance on your FMS.DIR file.

- QSORT411.ZIP Quick Sort utility that RFM calls to sort your FMS.
-
- Optional:
-
- ZAVT11.ZIP ANSI/AVATAR device Driver. If you are going to have
- Avatar Menu and Text files, you will need this
- device driver to display locally.
-
- BSHOW111.ZIP multi-format file viewer.
-
- MSGFRM11.ZIP Utility to 'toss' a canned message into an RBBS message
- base. The CDor mods use this program to send canned
- warning messages to carrier droppers.
-

- MAKING RBBS-PC.EXE and CONFIG.EXE:
- ----------------------------------
- Now it's time to make your CDor modified RBBS-PC and CONFIG source files.
- It is best to simply put all the stock RBBS and CONFIG source files in a
- work directory along with the CDor .MRG files, BLED, and the MAKECDOR.BAT
- file found in the SOURCE.ZIP file. If you UNZIP ALL the files in CDORMRGS.ZIP,
- and SOURCE.ZIP and then UNZIP R174BAS source files (do not overwrite the CDor
- versions of RBBS-VAR.BAS and CNFG-VAR.BAS!), the ANSIED source file ANSIED.BAS,
- and the RCHAT source files RCHAT401.BAS and RCSUB401.BAS you can't go wrong.
-
- Run MAKECDOR.BAT. If all goes well, MAKECDOR.BAT will create all the RBBS
- and CONFIG source files with a .BAS extension. The stock RBBS and CONFIG
- source files will have been deleted. MAKECDOR.BAT also makes the modifed
- ANSIED.BAS, RCHAT401.BAS, and RCSUB401.BAS files in the same manner.

- Next, make sure that PDS7.1 is in your path and all the envirornment variables
- tell BC.EXE where to find the libraries it needs.
-
- Run MAKERBBS.BAT and MAKECNFG.BAT. If all went well, you should now have
- an RBBS-PC.EXE and CONFIG.EXE file in the same directory. Success is almost
- guaranteed if you used the supplied batch files and did not alter anything.
- I have tested each distribution file (CDORxxx.ZIP and CDUDxxxx.ZIP) to make
- sure they will do this following the above instructions and that they will
- create a working CONFIG.EXE and RBBS-PC.EXE.

- Sometimes things don't work out the way we want them to! If the above steps
- didn't work, try them a second time. If you still get problems or errors, ask
- yourself, did I change Dan's batch files? If I did, did I screw them up?
- How much free memory do I have to compile RBBS? Doe's your computer have at
- least 590k of Free RAM? How many FILES do I have in CONFIG.SYS? AM I missing
- a file for the compilation - does PDS7.1 complain about anything? Please take
- a look at PROBLEMS.DOC for some specific problems and their solutions!

- If you still have problems, you can call up the Cellar Door and download
- compiled versions of the CDor modified RBBS-PC.EXE and CONFIG.EXE. You
- |MUST be already have in your posession STOCK RBBS executables. Log on to
- |the Cellar Door and look in the Personal Files for the CDxxXXXX.ZIP file
- |that you need. CDEXxxxx.ZIP is for 286 or higher with no math CPU.
- |CDCPxxxx.ZIP is for 286 or higher WITH math CPU. CDBENCH.ZIP is the bench
- |comparison RBBS-PC.EXE and CONFIG.EXE for troubleshooting purposes. These
- |files can be File Requested via 8:903/2 or 1:313/6 with the MAGIC names
- |of CDEX, CDCP, and CDBENCH.

- NOW THE FUN PART:
- -----------------
- You must run CONFIG on all your RBBS config files (RBBS-PC.DEF RBBS1PC.DEF,
- MAILC.DEF, etc). The reason is the CDor mods add many new parameters to the
- config files. In order to get you through the CONFIGuration, I have made a
- separate doc file called CONFIG.DOC. Read this file CAREFULLY. Pay attention
- to special directions. If it says "Make this option equal 2048" please do so!
- Lot's of testing and tweaking went into making the CDor mods work, and any
- of the I/O type options that I note must be a certain value, must not be
- changed! IF you do not run CONFIG on your *C.DEF files, then RBBS will use
- default values for the new options.

- I have MODIFIED CONFIG.EXE in two ways. First, it has been modified with
- extra parameters in support of the mods added to RBBS-PC.EXE. Secondly,
- and this is IMPORTANT, I have modified CONFIG.EXE to recongnize a STOCK
- CONFIG.EXE created config file and use default values for new values in
- the modified version. What this means is that CONFIG.EXE should read in
- your stock config file and when you edit/save it, it will then be a CDor
- modified config file. THERE IS NO REVERSAL OF THIS ACTION! Once you save
- your config file as a CDor config file, it's for good. By simply running
- CONFIG.EXE on a config file, pressing END then S to save, you have upgraded
- your config file. YOU WILL STILL NEED TO GO THROUGH AND MAKE CHANGES TO
- YOUR CONFIG FILE! See CONFIG.DOC for details.

- OKAY, WHAT's NEXT:
- ------------------
- You are now ready to install the support files which are included in the CDor
- distribution file. The README file explains what each file is in each zip, as
- well as where to put each file. Some of the files (Menus, etc) can be changed
- and others should be left alone. Now let's go over some of the important
- files that comes in this distribution file!

- BULLETIN.ZIP (C:\RBBS\BULLETIN\)
- ------------
- This archive contains sample bulletin related files.
-
- B.FCK - sample bulletin control file using SmartText
- BINTRO - sample introduction file you are welcome to incorporate into
- your BBS.
-

- DIR.ZIP (C:\RBBS\DIR\)
- -------
- This archive contains files which should go in the subdirectory where you
- have your FMS files.
-
- ADDTIMES.* - The ADDTIMES program is used to add the Times Downloaded field
- to your current FMS MASTER.DIR file. This is an optional
- feature and further instructions are later on in this
- documentation and in ADDTIMES.DOC.
-
- TAKETIME.* - The TAKETIME program is used to turn an ADDTIMES modified FMS
- MASTER.DIR file back into stock format for use with stock RBBS
- FMS utilities. Further instructions are later on in this
- documentation and in TAKETIME.DOC.
-
- MASTER.DIR - Sample FMS MASTER.DIR file with the Times Downloaded field.
-
- FMSFFS.* - Program for manipulating Times Downloaded modified FMS
- MASTER.DIR file. Please see FMSFFS.DOC for instructions.
-
- RBBSSORT.BAT - this is a batch file which will do an FMS sort to a files
- directory. It is not meant to sort directory listings
- which have extended discriptions.
-
- DIR.CAT - Sample categories control file.
-
- NOTHANX.DEF - File which list file extensions that you do not allow to be
- uploaded. Simply list each filename extension which you do
- not want on a separate line:
-
- .EXE
- .DOC
- .PIC
-
- This will stop a caller from uploading any filename which
- has these extensions.
- It is not required to have this file for operation, it is
- optional.
-
- FIDX.CFG - Sample config file for Wildcard Download support.
-
- FIDX.LST - Sample 'list' file for SYSOP8 and Multi FIDX.DEF files
-
- SYSOP8.CFG - Same as FIDX.LST except that it is used by SYSOP8 ONLY
- (see SYSOP8.DOC for further information)
-
- DIR.DIR - Sample Directory of Directories file.
-
- MAIN.LST - Sample control file used by RBBS to search for filenames.
- With the accompanied config.def setup, all your MAIN.LST
- file should have is the name of your FMS directory to be
- searched:
-
- MASTER
-
- Do not include the extension!
- This filename is set in CONFIG's option 218.
-
- X2ZIP?.DEF - Sample configuration file of filename extensions which you do
- NOT want to have automatically converted when uploaded.
- By placing a single NO on the first line and nothing else, RBBS
- will automatically convert every upload which has a CxxxXXX.BAT
- file available for converting. CxxxXXX.BAT could be, for
- example CARJZIP.BAT, to conver *.ARJ uploads to the ZIP format.
-
- By placing a YES on the first line, RBBS will ask ALL callers,
- regardless of access level, if they want the upload converted!
-
- A NO with file name extensions following on the subsequent
- lines, such as:
-
- NO
- .ARC
- .ARJ
-
- will only ask those users who have access to ADD a new
- description to an existing upload (CONFIG option 153)
- if they want to convert uploads with extensions of ARC or ARJ.
- If X2ZIP does not exist, then RBBS will continue the upload
- conversion anyway.

- The ? in X2ZIP?.DEF should be replaced by the NODE number you
- want this file active for.
-
- OFFLINE.DEF - This file will control which files you store offline and will
- prevent an uploader from uploading the file again. The mod
- only looks at what the filename PREFIX is, so there's no need
- to put FILE.ARJ, FILE.ZIP, and FILE.PAK, since they are all
- FILE as far as RBBS is concerned.

- HACK.DEF - This file will keep callers from uploading known hacked files
- as found in the Hack Report's HACK????.COL file. If a file to
- upload is found in this list, then the caller will not be able
- to upload the hack and will be shown the HACK.MSG file.

- This file contains files which belong in the subdirectory which has all your
- "help" files.

- uploads of files with unwanted filename extensions

- the OFFLINE.DIR (in the DIR subdirectory) to prevent files
- being uploaded that are listed in OFFLINE.DIR

- If you want to send your carrier droppers a canned warning
- message. RBBS will look in the RBBS directory for CARRIER.BAT
- and if it is found, shell out and run it. It uses DORINFOx.DEF
- to find out who to send the message to. The message only gets
- sent IF you have the Dropped Carriers Drop Access mod
- increment set to reduce an access level higher than zero (0).
- If the increment is set to -1 then the message will also be sent

- TGIF.BAT - sample GIFGATE batch (DL GIFGATxx.ZIP from the Cellar Door!)
- SETERROR.EXE - resets errorlevel to 0 for batch upload testing.

- LOCAL.BAT - sample one time local node batch file. If you are a multinode
- system, you can run test versions of rbbs locally while a caller
- is on line by naming your test version of rbbs TEST.EXE. If
- this batch file finds TEST.EXE, it will run it instead of
- RBBS-PC.EXE. Reason for this is you don't want to copy over
- a different copy of RBBS-PC.EXE while a RBBS-PC.EXE is running
- as it will propbably lock up! This batch file assumes that
- your LOCAL node is node 2.

- RBBS.BAT - sample RBBS batch for BinkleyTerm. If you don't run a front
- end mailer, then you should be fine by using your existing
- RBBS.BAT file or the one 'out of the box' as supplied with
- stock rbbs. The command files are as follows:

- SHROOM -Q RBBS-PC.EXE %node% RBBS%node%PC.DEF /%1 /%2 /%3 %4
-
- SHROOM -Q: Required else you will not be able to shell out
- and run upload test programs or doors which require more
- than 150k of RAM or so.

- %node% : The node number for this copy of RBBS

- RBBS%node%PC.DEF : The config file for this copy of RBBS
-
- /%1 : The amount of time before the next external event
-
- /%2 : The DTE rate to the modem (19200, for example)

- /%3 : The actual connect rate (2400, for example)

- %4 : Reliable mode - NOTE that there is no "/" here!
- BinkleyTerm passes this value as "/REL" so that
- there is no need to add a "/" and it will not
- work if you do because the RBBS.BAT file would
- pick this parameter up as "//Rel"!

- VIEWFILE.BAT - sample view batch file for use with BVIEW (BVIEW111.ZIP)
- The CDor mods use BSHow. See the VIEWFILE.BAT file for
- the parameters passed to this file.

- MENU0C - ANSI color MENU0 screen - layout designed for the CDor mods.
- MENU0 - ASCII (no ANSI color) MENU0 screen.
- Regardless of which menu you use, it MUST be called MENU0
- If you want the color menu, then rename the MENU0C file to
- MENU0.

- MENU0-1.DEF - MENU0 data file - This file will be created automatically if
- it doesn't exist. The "1" indicates NODE 1.

- which you have set as your location for the protocol definition file.

- PROTO.DEF - this is a smarttext colorized sample proto.def file. Stock RBBS
- can show smarttext colors in a proto.def file, but when a user
- does a file transfer, RBBS prints their protocol type to the
- screen with the smarttext color control codes. The CDor mods
- strip the smarttext code out of the protocol type so that they
- don't see the smarttext codes.

- TWEAKING THE SYSTEM:
- --------------------
- There are a few things to do now that you have successfully compiled RBBS-PC
- and CONFIG and made your changes to your RBBS-PC.DEF file. If you added or
- changed the above listed files to your rbbs directories, then you should be
- ready for callers.
-
- You must edit your PASSWRDS file to reflect the changes in the CDor mods.
- Please see PASSWRDS.DOC to set up your PASSWRDS file before you run up the
- system!
-
- Next, go thru the next section and bit by bit modifiy the CDor installation
- as directed. You MUST GO all the way thru these next steps or problems will
- occur. As modifications get implemented, the newer mods are documented at
- the end of this section.

- THE ADDED FEATURES OF THE CDOR MODS:
- ------------------------------------

- The BCFS mods:
- --------------
- These are what makes the CDor mods possible. All work was done by Scott
- McNay of THE WIZARD II BBS, (817) 554-5331. Please read Scott's
- documentation entitled BCFS.DOC.

- The Maple Mods:
- ---------------
- Most of the Maple Mods are added to the CDor Mods. There are some
- slight differences and changes from the Maple Mods. The Cellar Door is
- a developement BBS for the Maple Mods. The Maple Mods originate from
- Peter Eibl. Pete is taking a break from the Sysop Business from July,
- 1993 until an undisclosed time hopefully in the not so far off future.

- Paged Message Mod:
- ------------------
- If you want a file shown to callers that page you during your off-hours or
- when you are not around, create a file called PAGED.MNU and place it in
- your TEXT subdirectory. Graphics versions of this file are supported.
-
- Alias Mod:
- ----------
- True Alias naming is supported by creating a zero length alias control file
- for any conference or subboard you wish to allow aliases in. If you have
- a conference called DND, the config file is DNDC.DEF, with DNDM.DEF and
- DNDU.DEF for the Messages and USERS file, then the file DNDA.DEF would
- contain the Alias names of your users. To create an alias file:
-
- C:\RBBS>type DNDA.DEF >DNDA.DEF
-
- The ALIAS file must be in the same location as your MESSAGES file for
- that conference.
-
- Will create a zero lenth alias file for the DND conference. After that,
- the next time someone joins the conference, RBBS will look for the alias
- file, find it and then ask the caller if they want to use an alias and
- store their alias name in this file. To reset their alias, delete the
- line that has their alias name and they will be asked again the next time
- they join the echo for an alias name. The SYSOP cannot have an alias name!
- The original ALIAS mod was by Gregg Snyder. This version was upgraded to
- the current version by Peter Eibl.

- Sysop's Alias:
- --------------
- Normally, with the Alias mods, the SYSOP cannot have an alias name in an
- alias confernce. This is because the sysop's secret name to log on is
- treated as an alias name already. So, we need to do a little trickery:
-
- The Cellar Door's modifications to CONFIG.EXE add an ASCII 255 to the end
- of the sysop's public last name. This will allow you to use your real name
- as your secret name, the only difference is that the ASCII 255 is part of
- your public last name. When you run CONFIG, the ASCII 255 is automatically
- added to the end of your public last name if it is not there. Next, if
- you want your secret name to be the same as your public name, go to CONFIG's
- option to enter your secret name, and enter it so that the name is the same
- but the CASE is different. In otherwords, if my public name is DAN DRINNON,
- then I make my SECRET name Dan Drinnon. CONFIG has been modified to save
- your secret name without capitalizing it. This is all that needs to be done.
- You can now join an alias conference and have a real alias name just like
- your users.

- If you chose to NOT have a setup with secret names like above, RBBS will
- still refuse access to anyone who tries to log on with your public name.
-
- Batch Uploads:
- --------------
- Batch uploading is offered as an option anytime anyone selects the Upload
- option. The batch upload routines are by Peter Eibl.

- Logging On:
- -----------
- I rearange the way RBBS looks to the caller when logging on. After a
- caller logs on, they are shown "Granted access...", then "Logging [Name]
- From [City]", then the WELCOME SCREEN, The Bulletins/NEWS, then the
- New Files, then the "stats". Finally, they are asked if they want to
- check the message bases and given the opourtunity to read new messages.

- SmartText Colors:
- -----------------
- I added the capability of 16 foreground and 8 background smarttext colors.
- Please read the COLORS.DOC file for all info on using the smarttext colors.
- Also see SMARTTXT.DOC for ALL of the Smarttext Commands.

- While on Colors Mod:

- It took a lot of string space, but there is LOTS of added color to the
- CDor mods. Color is used only when the users has Color Graphics selected

- Very Fast Turbo Logon:

- You get to the MAIN menu with minumum reports.

- Internode Chat:

- The RCHAT401 mod by John Morris is incorporated into the CDor mods. John's

- Who Uploaded What?:

- An option in the UTILITIES menu is to list who uploaded what. Private
- uploads are included in this file too, but only the sysop will see private
- uploads listed. This option is controlled by CONFIG. This mod was by Peter
- Eibl and adapted to the CDor mods.

- Menu Driven Information Screen:

- This option gives the caller the chance to view Prelog, Welcome, Newuser, and

- working on the same thing at the same time. After the two of us shared
- notes, the current DOOR.SYS mod was the result. The Cellar Door features
- the capability to read back in a DOOR.SYS file after a door runs.

- While On Doors Mod:

- DORINFOx.DEF, DOOR.SYS, and PCBOARD.SYS files can be selected thru your
- DOORS.DEF file for creation when a door is executed. The 9th parameter of an
- entry in your DOORS.DEF file tells RBBS which door drop file to create:

- Number, and these type lines are left blank. A separate file called
- MAKEPCBD.EXE is included to make the sometimes required PCBOARD.DAT
- file from your RBBS config file. The PCBOARD.DAT file should only
- need to be created once per configuration file and only changed when
- you change your RBBS config file.

- If you specify "R", then the DOOR.SYS file WILL be read back in after a
- door for any changes a door may have made to it. You use this feature at
- your own risk - a door can change a user's security level to something
- that you may not want them to have! Be Careful!

- Some Doors allow the caller to log off from the door and drop DTR. This
- is great except that RBBS treats that as a dropped carrier when the door
- returns to the BBS. The code has been modified to put a "Logged Off from
- Door" entry in the callers log instead of a "Carrier dropped" and it also
- will not send a "You dropped Carrier" message (if enabled) or count a
- dropped carrier against the caller. NOTE: RBBS will still be SLOW when
- recouperating from a door that can drop the DTR. The DOORS.DEF file will
- now require a 10th parameter to specify whether or not to handle a door
- that can drop DTR:

- After so many calls, the caller is forced to change their password. This
- is controlled by yet another entry in the password files, a number is used
- to indicate how many calls go by before the user must change their password.
- A 0 will turn off this feature. So the PASSWRDS file from above will look

- Upload Time Factor in PASSWRDS File:
- ------------------------------------
- An 18th parameter to the Passwords file is for controlling Upload Time Factors
- by security instead of the global one you set in config. This value works the
- same way as in config - 1 for no time taken, no time given, then 2 and higher
- multiplies the time it took to upload the file and gives it back to the
- uploader. This new parameter is handy to give different access levels
- different upload time factors and to also give different time factors during
- different hours of the day. Here is how the above PASSWRD file lines will
- look:

- If you create a file called TWITLIST.DEF and place it in your RBBS directory,
- then any user name (one per line) in this list will never be able to upload,
- and if they try, they will get a message telling them the file (no matter
- what the file is) is stored offline.

- Control Conference Join Mod:
- ----------------------------
- Since there was no control for a caller to join any conference, as long as
- the access was high enough, a mod has been added so that no one can join a
- conference that is not in the conference mail scan file as specified in
- CONFIG #93. It should be noted that although the RBBS docs say that the
- file in CONFIG #74 must have the conference in CAPS, this feature does not
- work.

- |FILE_ID.DIZ Directory Listing Mod:
- |----------------------------------
- In conjunction with the upload batch testing file CALL*.BAT, if an
- upload has a FILE_ID.DIZ file descriptor file, then RBBS will
- look in the node directory for this file and replace whatever the uploader
- | described for the upload with the description in the FILE_ID.DIZ.
- | The MAIN description of the upload will be line #1 of the FILE_ID.DIZ file.
- | The semi-official ASP standard for FILE_ID.DIZ files are 1). no more than
- | 45 characters per line, and 2). no more than 10 lines. Therefore, assuming
- | that you get mostly standard FILE_ID.DIZ files, you should set your FMS
- | description length to 45 or 46 for best results.

- PLOAD Message Mod:
- ------------------
- If a file called UPMSG.HLP exists in your HELP directory, then an uploader
- will be displayed this file. If you have subboards with separate files
- areas, then RBBS will look for the filename of whatever your message file
- is for that subboard plus a U.HLP. So if your subboard message file is
- called DIRTM.DEF then the upload message file should be called DIRTU.HLP.
- If your message file doesn't follow the M.DEF standard, say it is called
- DIRTMSG, then the upload message file would be called DIRTMSGU.HLP.
- Needless to say, it would be best to follow the M.DEF standard...

- Separate RGXPIRE and RGXPIRD.HLP Mod:
- -------------------------------------
- This mod allows you to have separate RGXPIRE.HLP and RGXPIRD.HLP files based
- on access levels. If you don't run subscriptions then this wont matter. If
- you do, then you can still use these two "stock" files, or, you can make
- separate files for whatever security levels you have that are controlled by
- subscription. Simply make a file called RGXDxxxx.HLP and/or RGXPxxxx.HLP,
- where the xxxx's are the security level. The security levels can't be higher
- than 9999 for this mod. RGXDxxxx.HLP is the RGXPIRD.HLP and RGXPxxxx.HLP is
- the RGXPIRE.HLP file. These files belong in your HELP subdirectory and
- will be searched and displayed if found, if not then the stock files will
- be shown instead. - Yet another Cellar Door mod!

- No Hacks Mod:
- -------------
- This mod will keep callers from uploading known hacks by using a file called
- HACK.DEF in your DIR subdirectory. If the file to be uploaded is found
- in this file, then the caller is shown the file HACK.MSG in your HELP sub-
- directory and then returned to the FILE command prompt without the ability
- to upload the hack.

- GIF Dimensions in Upload Descriptions:
- --------------------------------------
- If a GIF is uploaded, then RBBS will try to get the size and number of colors
- in the GIF and put that information in front of the upload description like
- this:
- PICTURE.GIF 123456 01-10-93 (640x480x256) a real neat picture
-
- The lenght of the description is automatically shortened by 15 characters
- when the uploader is prompted for a description to allow for the extra
- info in the description. - A Cellar Door mod!

- WELCOME.LST Mod:
- ----------------
- You can creat a file that is called what ever you called it in CONFIG option
- #69, with ".LST" as an extension (WELCOME.LST for example) and in it, list
- all the files that you want shown as welcome files. Here is an example:

- C:\RBBS\TEXT\LASTON

- If the file WELCOME.LST, or what ever you called it in CONFIG option #69
- with a ".LST" extension does not exist, then RBBS will look for the WELCOME
- file you specified instead. The ".LST" is special, and RBBS will only do
- the multiple files if it can find the .lst welcome file.

- Upload to a Security Level Mod:
- -------------------------------
- This is from the 0115-MRG Stock RBBS update, which will allow you to do a
- personal upload to a Security Level by simply entering the Security Level
- to upload to as the name during the Personal Upload process.

- Multiple FIDX/LIDX Files Mod:
- -----------------------------
- The multiple FIDX list mod now looks for the name of the FIDX file with the
- filename extension of "LST". Instead of a generic "IDX.LST" file, RBBS now
- looks for whatever then name of the file you entered in CONFIG #267 with an
- extension of .LST. For example, if your entry for CONFIG #267 is FIDX.DEF,
- then the multiple FIDX list file must be FIDX.LST. The contents of the .LST
- file are as follows:

- FIDXNAME,LIDXNAME,MASTER DIR NAME,DESCRIPTION LENGTH

- FIDXNAME = CONFIG #267
- LIDXNAME = CONFIG #268

- The sysop's menu has 8 options instead of the normal 7 options, the 8th

- can Add, Delete, Find, Move, any of your upload/download files from anywhere
- on your computer. In other words, you can stick a floppy in drive A: and
- add a file from Drive A: to your upload or download area. This mod is FFS
- sensitive, and will update your FIDX/FIDXT.DEF files when you Add, Delete,
- or Move a file. You can also do Personal uploads from any source drive and
- path.
- The best way to understand this mod is to try it out!
- Another Cellar Door Original! Please note that you cannot add or move the
- same file to and from the same directory!

- 199 Line Messages MOD:
- ----------------------
- You can configure the Main board and subboards to allow up to 199 lines per
- message.

- EGA/VGA 43/50 Lines MOD:
- ------------------------
- You can select between 25,43, or 50 line displays in CONFIG #328 for local
- screen display. The ANSIED mods will handle the different screen dimensions
- too, however, if the local sysop's screen is LESS than the Caller's default
- Page Length, then ANSIED will force the Caller's page length to the local
- page length as set in config, temporarily. For example, if you are set to
- have 25 lines for local display, and a caller set with 49 lines uses the
- ANSIEditor, then while in the ANSIEditor, the Caller is forced to 23 lines.
- When the caller is done with the ANSIEditor, the Caller's 49 lines per screen
- will be restored. This keeps illegal function calls from occuring by rbbs
- routines trying to print information on the local screen which would other-
- wise be off-screen.

- WILDCARD DOWNLOADS:
- -------------------
- Added in Support for Wildcard Downloads! To enable this, you must
- creat an FIDX.CFG file in your RBBS DIR subdirectory. The filename
- is whatever the name is of your FIDX.DEF file with a .CFG for the
- extension. The format for the file is as follows:

- Marked Files allowed. If this file doesn't exist, then the WildDownload
- mod WILL NOT BE ENABLED! When this mod is enabled, you will know by
- seeing (Wildcards OK) in the download prompt.

- The WILDDOWN.BAS was originally by Richard Todd of 1:3612/299. Extensive
- modifications to the RBBS source files by Dan Drinnon. Extra mods to
- WILDDOWN.BAS by Peter Eibl and Dan Drinnon. WILDDOWN.BAS is modified and
- included with the Cellar Door mods with permission from Richard Todd.

- Remember that there are limits, and I haven't found them yet, but currently
- RBBS doesn't control how many marked files can be marked, so eventually,
- string space will run out. It is recommended to keep the max number of
- Marked Files allowed number LOW to prevent this from happening. Each
- marked file takes up 13 bytes.

- Multiple Epilog Displays:

- Added EPILOG.LST support. This file is just like the WELCOME.LST mod
- inwhich your default EPILOG questionaire will be looked for and ran,
- and then if there exists in the same directory an EPILOG.LST (or what
- ever the BODY of the filename you call your EPILOG file) then RBBS
- will read each line in this file and look for None, ASCII, and ANSI
- versions of the file and display them. Note that this mod only DISPLAYS
- the files you list and does not run any questionaires. Example format

- Added mod to EFND that will turn off checking for local user name in
- any conference you specify. To enable this, create a file called
- ECHOCONF.DEF in your RBBS directory. In this file, put the NAME only
- of any conferences you do not want RBBS to check for local users:

- The Fix for the Lost Personal files after Marking them has been added (a
- Stock Bug) as well as allowing Extended Descriptions for Personal
- Uploads. A Cdor mod.

- ANSIEd for Extended Descriptions:
- ---------------------------------
- The Full Screen Editor (ANSIEd) can be used for entering extended descriptions
- on uploads.

- MsgToss LOG Mod:
- ----------------
- This mod allows you to use the MsgToss /AREA: feature to read in a file called
- TOSSx.LOG created by RBBS which contains a list of echo conferences that have
- new messages ready to be scanned. To make all this happen, first you must run
- CONFIG on the echomail conferences config files of your choice and change
- CONFIG #12 to the AREA name of the conference as entered in your "AREAS.BBS"
- file. RBBS will now create a TOSSx.LOG file any time a new message is posted
- in those conferences. x being the node number. Next, you need to create a
- batch file to handle the TOSSx.LOG file:

- Avatar Graphics Support Mod:
- ----------------------------
- Added in Avatar display command support! To display Avatar files,
- your users must select A)vatar graphics in the UTILITIES Graphics
- command. Because of this addition graphics mode in RBBS, the user's
- graphics number table has changed. Because their OLD graphics
- number will be incompatible with the NEW graphics number table, I have
- added in a small feature to FORCE all of your users to re-select
- their graphics preferences at logon without having to make them do
- this from the UTILITITES menu. To implement this feature, first
- you must run CONFIG and select option #186 to make all users answer
- the "required questionaire". Next select option #82 for the NAME
- of the questionaire. Enter any path you want and then enter "GRAPHICS".
- "GRAPHICS" is a magic word that will make all this happen. Once
- your users have re-selected their new graphics preferences, they
- will not be asked again. This feature may also be re-used anytime
- you want all your users to re-select their graphic preferences.
- The Avatar files for menus and text files follow the same scheme as
- the other RBBS files. The Avatar files use a "V" to distinguish them
- between the other files. As before, an ANSI file uses a "C" and a
- ASCII file uses a "G". There are now 4 possible files. For example:

- To create Avatar files, you must have a program that will make Avatar
- files. TheDraw version 4.6 will do this. There is also a little program
- called ANSI2AVT that will convert ANSI files to Avatar. Neither one
- of these two will make perfect Avatar files, and I can guarantee you
- that you will have to manually figure out and edit Avatar files to get
- them to properly display.

- Finally, you will need to have an AVATAR device driver to display Avatar
- files on your local screen. I uses a driver called ZAVT.SYS which works
- flawlessly for both ANSI and AVATAR display commands.

- If you do not want to have Avatar support for your users, simple do
- not create any Avatar Menu and Text ("V") files. If any users select
- A)vatar and their are no Avatar files for display, RBBS will look for
- ANSI ("C") files instead, and then "none" files if no ANSI files are
- found.

- Avatar emulation also handles ANSI display commands.

- Note that SmartText overlayed into Avatar menus do not work well.

- Nodeable Subboard Callers Log Handling Mod:
- -------------------------------------------
- In Stock RBBS, when you have a subboard that has a different callers log
- filename from the MAIN board's file name, RBBS would write the subboard's
- callers file to whatever is entered in CONFIG #90 for a path, REGARDLESS
- of what node is doing the actual logging. The end result is that in a
- multi-node system, two caller's could end up having their activity logged
- to the same file. The 'right' way to log activity of subboards of different
- nodes is to log the file in it's own subdirectory. As per RBBS docs,
- multi-node RBBS's should have a separate subdirectory for each node.
- C:\RBBS\NODE1\
- C:\RBBS\NODE2\
- etc.
- The Cdor mods make sure that in a multinode system (even if your NODE 2 is
- a local node), the proper callers file is logged to. Keep in mind that
- this problem in STOCK RBBS only happens when the original, MAIN callers
- log file and the subboard log file have different names.

- Nodeable LGx.DEF Mod:
- ----------------------
- "Nodeable" LGx.DEF files can be used, simply add the node number in
- front of the LGx.DEF file for any node that you want a unique LGx.DEF
- file. For example, if you want all callers with access level 50 on
- NODE 3 to be displayed a unique LGx.DEF file for that node, make a
- file called 3LG50.DEF. If you don't want to use this feature, do nothing,
- the default LGx.DEF files will still be displayed if they exist.

- Tell them to LOG OFF Mod:
- -------------------------
- You can now display any message you want to your caller at any main
- prompt (MAIN,FILE,UTIL) by pressing ALT-F7. The file to display must
- be located in your TEXT subdirectory (where your welcome file is) and
- must be called LOGOFF. Graphic versions of this file are also allowed.

- Free Downloads List Mod:
- ------------------------
- Added capability to make any file free in a Ratio BBS system by creating
- a file called FREE.DEF in your "DIR" subdirectory. Any file in your FMS
- system that you to be a free download simply needs to be entered in this

- External Statistics Mod:
- ------------------------
- The Statistics shown when first logging on or in the UTILS "S" command are
- now stored externally as a smarttext file. Create a file which musth be
- called LGSTATS (graphic and color versions OK) in the same subdirectory
- as your "WELCOME" file subdirectory. You can put any info you want in
- this file, but it MUST exist if you want any info displayed with the UTILS
- "S" command! Included is a sample STATS file.
- Also see SMARTTXT.DOC for ALL of the Smarttext Commands.

- Tell them Why You are Next Mod:
- -------------------------------
- Added feature to display a file to the caller when the sysop wants the
- system next after pressing F7. The message file must be called SYSNEXT,
- and be located in the same directory as your WELCOME file. Graphic
- versions (SYSNEXTG,SYSNEXTC,SYSNEXTV) are checked for. If you do not want
- a message displayed, then do not create this file! If you have callers who
- have SYSOP level access, they will not be displayed this file and will
- toggle off the Sysop Next flag. Otherwise, once you press the F7 key, until
- a sysop level access caller logs on, all callers will be displayed the
- "SYSNEXT" message file at any MAIN prompt - the MAIN, UTIL, or FILES.

- Offline Files List for Subboards Mod:
- --------------------------------------
- You can now specify separate OFFLINE.DEF files for subboards with file
- systems by naming the file the name of the MAIN FMS Directory Name plus .OFL.
- For example, if your MAIN FMS Directory as set in CONFIG #214 is SPECIAL,
- then SPECIAL.OFL would contain the list of offline files. Files in this
- list must be listed one file per line.

- SysOp's Pop-Up Help Mod:
- ------------------------
- By pressing ALT-F1, a Sysop's Help screen will be displayed. This feature is
- only active while a caller is on line. If you find that the display scrolls
- off the screen too quickly, you can add a SmartText character {SO to turn off
- SNOOP so you can read the help file. Press F9 to reactivate snoop.

- CALLERS.TXT Mod:
- ----------------
- CONFIG #39 has been changed from using BASIC's PRINT command to print info on
- the local screen to allow for logging all activity to a "CALLERS.TXT" file.
- The name of this file is automatically given the same name of your callers
- file as set in CONFIG #90 with an extension of "TXT". The main purpose of
- this mod is for future growth - there is an awesome 'last callers' program
- in the works and this file will probably be used for a quick look from Menu0
- of recent callers activity. At this time, the CALLERS.TXT mod does NOT log
- password fails.
- The CALLERS.TXT mod will use a NEW Last Callers program written for the
- CDor mods by Howard Blake. The program is available on the Cellar Door as
- RSTAT*.ZIP.

- INFOScreen Menu Mod:
- --------------------
- The MAIN menu [I] command now uses an external menu called INFOSCR in your
- TEXT subdirectory to let your callers know the screens available.
-
- We Interrupt the NEWS Mod:
- --------------------------
- The CONFIG Option #38 has been changed from the option to use Machine
- language for Speed to allow for the option of making the NEWS file
- display uninterruptable instead of matching whatever was set for the
- Welcome file being interruptable in CONFIG #27.

- WHO'S ON MOD:
- -------------
- CONFIG #22 now controls the 'Who's On' command. If you want to allow
- non-sysop level callers to see who's on or has been on other nodes, set
- this parameter to Yes. Otherwise, a no will show non-sysop callers that
- offline nodes are "Waiting for next caller". CONFIG #22 USED to let you
- show the caller their File Transfer statistics, but this feature can be
- done using the LGSTATS screen.

- TIMES A FILE WAS DOWNLOADED MOD:
- --------------------------------
- Added Times Downloaded option. This option will keep track of the number of
- times a file has been downloaded in your FMS directory listing. To turn this
- feature on, you must do 2 things. First, you must add an extra 5 character
- field to your FMS directory listing. The program ADDTIMES in the DIR.ZIP file
- will do this for you (read the ADDTIMES.DOC!). Next, you must run CONFIG on
- all your RBBS config files and set the new option, #174, Show Times Downloaded
- when listing files to YES. That is all there is to it! RBBS will
- automatically keep track of each listing in your FMS directory list and
- increment the times a file has been downloaded after a caller downloads a
- file. NOTE! Downloads will ONLY be incremented if a XFER-x.DEF file is
- created by your protocol driver. CONFIG #174 replaced CONFIG #29, which means
- these MODS will only work on IBM/PC/AT "compatible" computers. The support
- for the PCJr and Compaq/Plus has been removed.

- TRANSFER TIME MOD:
- ------------------
- Added Transfer time display to extended file list description. If the
- caller opts to turn Extended off at the files listing prompt, then the
- transfer time for each file will not show. This option is further
- controlled with CONFIG #100. CONFIG #100 uses the old, no longer used
- AutoDownload checking option which is no longer used, so no special
- changes need to be done with your config file(s) other than selecting
- what you want.

- EXTERNAL PROFILE DISPLAY MOD:
- -----------------------------
- Externalized the Review Profile information shown if you have CONFIG set
- to remind callers of their profile and also in the utilities "R" command.
- To make this work, you must have a file called PROFILE in your "TEXT"
- subdirectory. All info that has been in this screen is now handled with
- SmartText and you can add or remove any info you want in the Profile
- display. Graphics versions of PROFILE are allowed. PROFILE is included
- in TEXT.ZIP. See SMARTTXT.DOC for all the SmartTxt Options you can use
- with this file

- TOGGLE OPTIONS MENU MOD:

- External RBBS CopyRight Screen:

- the RBBS-PC copyright display is now external in a file called COPYRITE.DEF
- which must be located in the RBBS subdirectory.

- Protocol Menu Mod:
- ------------------
- You may add an option PROTO.MNU protocol options menu and locate it in your
- TEXT subdirectory. The staple PROTO.DEF file must still be used to determine
- what types of protocols are available. The PROTO.MNU file is just a display
- menu. The usual graphics versions of this file may be used. If the PROTO.MNU
- file cannot be found, then the old way of displaying the PROTO.DEF file will
- be used as before.

- Extra User Options Mods:
- ------------------------
- Several User options have been added which are all saved to the users record
- by splitting the interger value for the right margin setting into a 1 byte
- value for the right margin and thus allowing for 8 more savable user options.
- The added options are:

- Read New Mail - a user togglable option which will make rbbs ask them
- if they want to read all new mail when you have
- CONFIG #282 - Skip Mail Check at log on turned off.
- Reselect All - this is a SYSOP controlled user option flag which can
- be controlled with either the SYSOP's 5 key while on line
- or with an added CONFIG option #193 - Make all users
- reselect preferences. The effect of this option on a
- user is they will have to reselect their Graphics,
- Protocol, and all other Toggle options the next time they
- log on.
- Reselect Graphics -
- this option is also a SYSOP controlled user option flag
- which can also be controlled either on line or with an
- added CONFIG option #194 - Make all users select graphics
- preference.
- More Promt Erase -
- this is a user selectable option which controls wether or
- not the "More..." prompts get erased or RBBS sends a CR/LF
- instead. Since the routine that Wipes a line (WipeLine)
- will NOT wipe a line when NULLS or on, NULLS are
- automatically turned off when the user selects to have
- the More prompt erased.
- ANSI Music - Users can now select ANSI Music for the Prompt Bell in the
- Toggles options. Also, when a caller has ANSI Music on
- they will hear the same "telephone ring" while paging
- that you do! When in LOCAL mod, ANSI Music is not used.
- Extended DIR Display -
- The Extended +/- option when listing files is now saved
- to the User Record.
- Reselect Protocol -
- This is a SYSOP controlled user option flag which can be
- toggled on line with the SYSOP 5 key or with an added
- CONFIG option #195 to make ALL users reselect protocols.
- Never Can Page -
- This is a SYSOP controlled user flag controlled via the
- SYSOP 5 key which will cause a user to always get the
- sysop not in message/file when they try to page the
- sysop during the sysop paging hours. Use at your own

- Notes:
- 1). First, the "GRAPHICS" questionaire will no longer force an old caller
- to reselect their graphics preferences. Error checking has been added
- into the CDor mods to ensure that if an old caller logs on with an
- old color value (before the RIP or Avatar mods) then they will see
- displayable text, may not be their favorite color, but they can at least
- read the display - if they leave you a complaint msg, just use your
- SYSOP 5 key ("U" when the sysop is reading a message) and toggle their
- reselect graphics flag.

- SYSOP5.MNU!

- They're A Leech Mod:
- --------------------
- If you run a Ratio Files system, then you may want to create an option
- RATIO.HLP file! This file is displayed whenever a downloader trys to
- download beyond their ratio limit. All graphics versions of this file are
- supported. This file must be located in your HELP subdirectory and be
- called "RATIO" plus the default filename extension for your help files as
- set in CONFIG.

- Pick Your Colors for DIR Listings Mod:
- --------------------------------------
- CONFIG options 323,324,325,326 now control the colors of the directory listing
- display. The first 4 user colors are now hard coded into the mods. An added
- option, 329, controls the color of the extended description. This paramter
- replaced the Library Program in CONFIG. You should run config on your MAIN
- RBBS-PC.DEF file and all subboard .DEF files to set your color for extended
- descriptions. If RBBS can't get a legal color for extended descriptions from
- your config file, then it will use the regular description color by default.

- DOZ File descriptions Mod:
- --------------------------

- Added support for .DOZ files for upload descriptions. The .DOZ file is used
- for handling descriptions for uploads like a FILE_ID.DIZ is, however the .DOZ
- file is external to the upload and one .DOZ file can have descriptions for
- more than one upload during a batch upload. Since the CDor/Maple modifed RBBS
- asks an uploader for a description and category (if allowed) BEFORE the
- upload, the uploader must still enter something for a description regardless
- of the .DOZ file. The mod will look for a .DOZ file entry in the XFER-x.DEF
- file and if found, use it to look for the upload description. If the upload
- | has a FILE_ID.DIZ within the archive, then the FILE_ID.DIZ will override the
- | .DOZ file description. After the process of searching a .DOZ file for
- | descriptions is complete on all uploads in a batch upload, then the .DOZ file
- | is deleted. Note the difference between the CDor/Maple batch upload and stock
- | batch upload is that stock asks for all the info on a file AFTER the upload is
- | complete. If these mods were redone to ask for file info AFTER an upload,
- | then that would basically take away the AutoLogOff feature available after an
- | upload.

- So, that is the way I decided to implement the mod. I *will not* be rewriting
- these mods so that they are like stock in asking for descriptions and upload
- categories AFTER an upload!

- The .DOZ file format is by Dan Shore and originally developed for his batch
- upload program for RBBS called RBatch.

- The basic format of a .DOZ file (as far as what the CDor Mods needs) is as
- follows:

- {FI FILE1.ZIP X
- This is the description of FILE1.ZIP it can be
- 80 characters wide and no more that 10 lines
- long.
- {FI FILE2.GIF X
- This is the second file.

- The lines must be LEFT Justified and the first four characters must be
- "{FI " (an {FI and a SPACE). Then follows the name and after that any
- character. This is reserved for the categories, but not used with these
- modes as the category is already given before the upload and before this
- file is read.

- In summary, you may not ever use this mod, but it is benificial to your

- | If your callers can't seem to read their mail, or never check it, you can
- | further enhance the "you have mail!" mod by creating a file called MAIL.HLP,
- | assuming .HLP is your default help file extentions and then this file will
- | be displayed to the caller at logon, regardless of Turbo Logon selection.
- | The best use for the MAIL.HLP is to give quick instructions to your callers
- | on how to read their mail.

- | The sysop's Page Up key will now display a file called USERINFO which must
- | be located in your TEXT subdirectory. It relies on SmartText to show the
- | User Information, and you may place whatever SmartText values you want in

- |Conference and Long Conference Name Mod:

- | Pete Eibl's CONFNUM mod has been added in. This mod allows callers to
- | select a conference by entering a preset NUMBER for a conference name OR
- | the actual conference name. To enable this option, you must create a
- | Conference Number file in the same directory you keep your CONFMAIL.DEF
- | file. The conference number file must be called whatever you call your
- | CONFMAIL.DEF file with the extension of "NUM" - CONFMAIL.NUM, for example.
- | This allows you to have separate CONFMAIL.NUM files for subboards which
- | might have different CONFMAIL.DEF files. The format of the CONFMAIL.NUM

- This basically covers all that is needed to get the CDor version of RBBS up
- and running. By now, if you did everything right, you should be able to
- run RBBS without any problems, and if you had problems before you tried this
- version, they might be gone now - I did a LOT of fixes and changes to rbbs to
- make this working version. I spent MANY hundreds of hours making them work
- the way they do. Many others have spent just as much time too.
