The Intel Ultra ATA Storage Driver automatically enables fast Ultra ATA transfers for a variety of ATA/ATAPI mass storage devices such as hard disk drives and CD-ROMs. This driver has been architected to take advantage of the latest Intel Ultra ATA controller features to improve both storage subsystem performance and overall system performance. Driver installation is fully automated for Microsoft* Windows* 98, Microsoft* Windows* NT* 4.0, and Microsoft* Windows* 2000.

Basic Installation Instructions

- Run SETUP.EXE and answer all prompts
- You will be prompted to reboot when installation is complete
Note: By default, all general files (README.TXT, etc.) are copied to the
path <bootdrive>:\Program Files\Intel\Ultra ATA Storage Driver
Verifying Correct Installation
==============================
Microsoft Windows 98:
- Run 'Start', 'Settings', then 'ControlPanel'
- Double-click 'System' Control Panel Application
- Select the 'Device Manager' tab
- Expand the 'Hard Disk Controllers' entry
- Select either the 'Primary' or 'Secondary' controller listed
- Select the 'Properties' button
- Select the 'Driver' tab
- Select the 'Driver File Details' button
- 'INTELATA.MPD' and 'INTELVSD.VXD' should be displayed
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0:
- Run Start/Settings/ControlPanel
- Double-click SCSI Adapters
- Select the Devices tab
- 'IntelATA' or 'Intel Ultra ATA Controller' should be displayed
Microsoft Windows 2000:
- Run 'Start', 'Settings', then 'ControlPanel'
- Double-click 'System' Control Panel Application
- Select the 'Hardware' tab
- Select 'Device Manager' button
- Expand the 'IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers' entry
- Select the 'Intel 82801XX Ultra ATA Controller' listed,
where XX in 82801XX represents the controller identified by the
'System Requirements' section of this document.
- Select the 'Properties' button
- Select the 'Driver' tab
- Select the 'Driver File Details' button
- 'INTELATA.SYS' should be displayed
Advanced Installation Instructions

The following SETUP flags are available:
-? Help information for the setup flags (shown below)
-S Silent install (no user prompts)
-B Forces a system reboot after installation
-P <path> Supplies target installation path
-A Extracts all driver files (does not install driver) to <path>
if -P is also supplied, or the default directory otherwise
-N Installs all components except driver
-O <name> Supplies target Start Menu Program Folder name if installing
Companion applet
-L<number> Forces a particular language install (See the product
documentation for a table mapping <number> to language)
-build Displays build number
-back Sets up a full windowed installer
-nocompanion Prevents the installation of the Companion application
Notes: Flags and their parameters are not case-sensitive.
Flags may be supplied in any order, with the exception of the -S and
-L flags which must be supplied last.
When using the -A flag, a target path may be specified via the -P
flag, and the -O, -L, -S, and -N flags are ignored.
When using the -P or -O flags, a space is required between the flag
and the argument; when using -L, however, there should be no space.
To load the driver via the method outlined in the Microsoft document, "Deployment Guide Automating Windows NT Setup," use the supplied TXTSETUP.OEM file included in this driver package and insert the lines below into the UNATTEND.TXT file. This method is available for both Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and Microsoft Windows 2000. (The TXTSETUP.OEM, INTELATA.INF, and INTELATA.SYS file need to first be extracted from the compressed .CAB file. To extract these files, run 'SETUP -A -P <path>' as described above.)

Removing the Software
=====================
- Run Start/Settings/ControlPanel
- Select the Add/Remove button
- Select the "Intel Ultra ATA Storage Driver" for removal
- Click on Yes when the script prompts for confirmation
- The uninstall script will prompt you to restart the system
