A very interesting site indeed. A couple of small points about "Laddie" Roy. He was born on 2.12.1898. He scored 10 victories during a 13 day period between 6.7.18 and 19.7.18 (and not a 4 day period) before being shot down on 22.7.18 by, it is believed, Harald Auffahrt who had returned from leave on 21.7.18. However, he may have been shot down by Uffz. Brunnecker who shot down an S.E. over Carvin at 0942 German time (0842 British time- "Laddie's" Casualty Form gives his time of death as 0850). The only other Jasta 29 pilot who scored that day was Ofst. Gregor who shot down his S.E. over Courrieres (Auffahrt's kill was over Loos). Who actually shot down "Laddie" will always remain unclear, given the passage of time and the confusion of aerial combat. Any further information you may have about why people feel that it was Auffahrt will be most welcome. Cheers.

  256. My interest in WWI aviation happened just last year when I read Elliott Spring's' WARBIRDS, Diary of an Unknown Aviator'.  Even though I flew F-4s and F-14s as a Radar Intercept Officer off and on from 1970 to 1993 the open cockpit, prop-driven plane never interested me before now.
