  7. This file has some basic information on Toyland. For more information
  8. read the online help of the game.
  9.  
  10. Toyland comes in one version which has both hicolor and 256 color
  11. support. The game determines your system's color depth at startup.
  12. This can be overridden - see the online help of the game for more 
  13. information.

  15. You can use MMOS/2 to play Toyland but don't require it.
  16.  
  17. This package has the game in the "Merlin" (Warp 4) enhanced version (1.1)

  20. ** ATTENTION **
  21. ***************
  22. There is a known problem with MMOS/2. It seems that all MMOS/2 problems
  23. are specific driver problems. If you happen to have problems with your
  24. sound please report them to me AND post them in the comp.os.os2 newsgroups -
  25. so the people who make the drivers learn about the problems. To make reports
  26. easier for you - and better to handle for me this package includes a
  27. SOUNDBUG.TXT. Please use that form to report your problem.
  28. Known problems include:
  29.     - sound drop out on AWE 32 - even with the latest drivers from CL
  30.     - sound doesn't play at all while music does play on certain cards.
  31.     - MIDI device is not resetted properly so some songs might mess up
  32.        other songs.

  34. Later this year I will change the way the sound is produced using DART and 
  35. probably RTMIDI. However I will wait at least 3 months to make sure as
  36. many people as possible do have Warp 4.

  42. You can simply unzip the file to a directory of your choice and start by
  43. creating a program object or typing *toyland* in an OS/2 command window.
  44.  
  45. If you prefer to install the game run "install.cmd" from the command line.
  46. This will install Toyland to a different location, create a WPS folder
  47. with the program in it. Since Toyland uses the standard IBM installer you
  48. can simply remove Toyland by rerunning the program. If you install future
  49. versions you can use the update function of Toyland.

  51. If you use the installer you have to install these components:
  52.     - Toyland Executables
  53.     - Levels
  54.     - ANY graphics (Hicolor or 256 color) package
  55.  
  56. The other packages are optional:
  57.     - Online Help is strongly recommended
  58.     - Text Files are also recommended
  59.     - Sound has the sound and music files
  60.  
  61. If you create a program object make sure to set the path in the settings 
  62. order - otherwise Toyland will not find the data.

  77. of the files in the original form!
