- Pakie is a .PAK file editor.
- It is THE most advanced .PAK editor around.
- It currently lets you:
-
- Browse through a list of entries.
- Import disk files into a .PAK.
- Export .PAK entries to files on your disk.
- Clean a .PAK file, usually saving valuable disk space.
- Rename PAK entries.
- Delete PAK entries.
-
- Plus: You don't need to use a cryptic command line interface.
- Pakie has it all built right into it's GUI!
-
-
-
-
- Using Pakie:
- -------------
-
- Type 'pakie <file>' to load a .PAK file and start hacking. You can
- also just type 'pakie' and it will prompt you for a file to load.
- Once you have your .PAK loaded you can scroll through the list of
- entries with the arrow keys and numeric keypad.
-
- The available commands are as follows:
-
- L: list all entries in the .PAK file
- N: loads a new .PAK file
- C: cleans the loaded .PAK file and saves it as 'cleaned.pak'
- R: rename a .PAK entry
- D: delete an entry in the .PAK file
- X: export an entry from the .PAK file
- I: import a file into the .PAK file
- Q: quit
-
-
- Things to remember:
- When entering filenames, you must include the extension.
- After deleting an entry, it is a good idea to clean the pak.
- This isn't a text editor. All changes are saved the instant you
- make them.
- You can create a new empty pak by starting Pakie with no arguments,
- and then entering a non-existent filename to load.
-
-
- Coming soon:
- -------------
- automatic directory tree collapsing/expanding
- WAD2/PWAD/IWAD/anyotherwadsthereare support
- sprite viewing
- texture viewing/importing/exporting
- some GOOD error checking.
-
-
- Coming later or maybe never:
- -----------------------------
- .WAV playing.
- a built-in hex editor
- .MDL viewing in 3D
- wire-frame .BSP viewing
-
-
-
- Known Bugs:
- ------------
- Not much error checking. Use this program at your own risk.
- If you pak is messed-up, when pakie loads it strange things may happen...
