-
- What is AlertHelp?
-
- AlertHelp helps you to interpret the system alert messages, so you
- don't need to learn every alert number and its meaning by heart or
- check every alert from the 1000-page brick, the Amiga ROM Kernel
- Reference Manual.
-
- How does it work?
-
- AlertHelp patches the exec/Alert()-function.
-
- How do I use it?
-
- Place it in your boot-disk's c: drawer, and 'run' it from your
- startup-sequence (run <NIL: >NIL: c:AlertHelp).
-
- When a recovery alert occurs, AlertHelp opens a window to notify
- you about the alert. When you have finished reading select the
- 'Thank you'-gadget to go on.
-
- When a deadend alert occurs, the window contains the following
- gadgets: Guru (meet the great Guru), Reboot (reboot the machine
- without meeting the Guru), Suspend (try to suspend the faulty
- program).
-
- If you get the System Request, which states that an alert has
- occurred, select the Reboot-option to see AlertHelp.
-
- If you get the System Request after selecting Suspend from AlertHelp,
- select Suspend to suspend the faulty program.
-
- To get rid of AlertHelp, run it again and select the 'Remove'-gadget.
-
- Notes
-
- - AlertHelp doesn't catch every alert, just most of those generated
- by calling exec/Alert().
-
- - AlertHelp needs V2.0 (V36)
-
- History
-
- V0.55 (Thursday, 23-Sep-1993)
- Should recognize all the specific alerts from the V2.04 exec/alerts
- file. General alerts are a bit harder yet.
