- TaskY version 1.0
- by Martin W. Scott

- *Public Domain*
-
-
- TaskY is based very strongly on TaskX, by Steve Tibbet. It doesn't do as
- much as that program, but does it the way I like. Maybe I should have
- called this TaskW, but I don't think that sounds as good.
-
- Those of you that have never heard of TaskX may be a bit bemused at the
- moment. TaskY lists all tasks running on your Amiga, and lets you perform
- simple manipulations. Those are:
-
- - Change a task's priority
-
- - Send a standard signal to a task
-
- By it's very nature, TaskY will probably not be of much use to the novice
- or naive user.
-
-
- Differences
- -----------
- The main differences between TaskX and TaskY:
-
- - TaskX updates regularly, TaskY only updates when asked.
-
- - TaskY only shows priorities, not all the other task guff.
-
- - TaskY uses topaz8, TaskX adapts.
-
- - TaskY has convenient buttons to change priority to -5..5.
-
- - TaskY shows every task accurately (TaskX misses the odd
- non-standard task).
-
- - TaskY is much smaller in size and memory usage, and much lower in
- cpu usage (because it doesn't update constantly).
-
- - TaskY remembers position it was in when last invoked.
-
- - Er, that's it.
-
-
- Why
- ---
- I'm not one for reinventing the wheel, but I needed task-listing routines
- for xData, and TaskX didn't come with source. Since TaskX didn't exactly
- fit my needs, I wrote this to develop the task stuff.
-
-
- How to use
- ----------
- Work it out for yourself ;-)
-
- But you might not guess that pressing:
-
- ESC quits,
- Z zips window.
-
