  9. There are 4 archive files for this update. The most you will need is three
  10. of them. Only one is required for the actual update, and there are
  11. separate versions of it depending on whether you are updating from 3.0 or
  12. 3.0a. The other two are optional depending on what you want to update.
  13.  
  14. PS3B01.LHA - you need this file to upgrade from 3.0
  15. PS3BA1.LHA - you need this file to upgrade from 3.0a
  16. PS3B2.LHA  - includes additional DMF fonts (see below)
  17. PS3B3.LHA  - includes updated help files and macro definitions
  18.  
  19. All archives contain installation scripts to install their files. You MUST
  20. have PageStream 3.0 or 3.0a, as applicable, properly installed on your
  21. hard drive to use these installers, and you MUST have disk 1 of your
  22. original PageStream3 disk set available.

  24. NOTE: The installer in this archive will overwrite your current
  25. PageStream3.Macros file. If you have macros in it you wish to keep, make
  26. a backup copy of your file before using this installer. After installation,
  27. run PageStream3 and append your old Macros file to the new one. Remove
  28. redundant entries as required.

  30. DMF fonts: the 3.0 and 3.0a releases of PageStream included DMF font files
  31. for the standard 35 set, less Times and Helvetica (Triumvirate) which are
  32. included in Compugraphic format. Only one DMF file was included for each
  33. font family. The PS3B2.LHA archive contains the remaining DMF files so
  34. that you can print these fonts to all types of printers. So if you want to
  35. print bold or italic versions of these fonts, you need the DMF font files
  36. in the PS3B2.LHA archive.

  39. our normal $10 disk fee. Please enclose $5 shipping and handling for the

  57.  There are 4 archive files for this update. The most you will need is three

  76.  CHANGES FROM 3.0a TO 3.0b
  77.  
  78.  TEXT:
  79.  - Text entry and formatting is 50% faster in this version. Yes, it is still
  80.    way too slow, but it's getting there.
  81.  - Paragraph Format: Left/First/Right Indent are now implemented.
  82.  - Ctrl C and D special character shortcuts are now implemented.
  83.  - Insert Character works again.
  84.  - Default tab spacing has been implemented.
  85.  - Cut/Copy/Paste in frameless text objects works now.
  86.  - Keyboard shortcuts for moving the insertion point in frameless text
  87.    objects have been implemented.
  88.  - Edit palette arrow gadgets for text size, width, tracking and leading
  89.    can now be used with a Shift key for greater precision.
  90.  - Fixed the Convert Case commands.
  91.  - Pasting a text wrapped object now updates text frames overlapping it.
  92.  - Note: some Text Wrap methods which worked in 3.0a have been disabled for
  93.    this release. They will return next time.
  94.  - Fixed the displaying of PS or DMF fonts at low magnifications or very
  95.    small sizes on screen which would offset them from their baseline.
  96.  - Fixed Times Bold/Italic reversal on PostScript printers.
  97.  - Fixed ASCII, FTXT, Excellence and Final Writer filters for problems
  98.    caused by converting more than 11 dashes.
  99.  - Double spacing between sentences no longer permits the 2nd space to fall
  100.    at the beginning of a line.
  101.  - Fixed all known problems for printing Compugraphic fonts to PostScript.
  102.  - Linked frames on the same page should now update properly.
  103.  - Fixed leading problem when the previous line had a larger point size.
  104.  - Fixed problems with leading options in the Edit palette.

  106.  PRINTING:
  107.  - Fixed color HP.printer DeskJet problems.
  108.  - Fixed HP.printer PaintJet problems.
  109.  - New Fargo.printer driver for the Primera wax thermal and dye sublimation
  110.    printer. (This will not work with the Primera Pro.)
  111.  - Improved Epson.printer color printing to decrease saturation.
  112.  - Corrected A4 paper size in HP.printer and Epson.printer.
  113.  - Print requester options will now remain set from one print job to the
  114.    next during the current session.
  115.  - Improved ordered dithering for HP, Epson and IFF ILBM printer drivers.
  116.  - PostScript: error handler is now off as the default. If you have saved
  117.    your settings, you can speed up printing by turning off the error
  118.    handler in Printing Preferences and then saving your settings again.
  119.  - Fixed color PostScript printing of certain pictures.
  120.  - Fixed display and printing of the bold and italic variations of the
  121.    standard 35 fonts, by adding DMF files for these fonts. (This requires
  122.    the PS3B2.LHA archive.)
  123.  - Fixed some problems printing drawings to PostScript.
  124.  - Fixed printing multiple frames on one page to PostScript.
  125.  - Fixed some non-standard character PostScript printing for resident fonts
  126.    and for downloaded Adobe Standard Encoded fonts. The characters include
  127.    typographic quotation marks, British Pound sign, bullet, ellipsis,
  128.    ligatures, en and em dashes, daggers, etc. The remaining characters and
  129.    other font types will be completed in 3.0c.
  130.  - Fixed HP.printer printing when the paper size was greater than 8.5x11".

  132.  PAGESTREAM2 DOCUMENT LOADING:
  133.  - If you converted 2.2 documents to 3.0 with previous versions of 3.0,
  134.    each article will really be one paragraph. (New Line codes were inserted
  135.    instead of New Paragraphs. Refer to page 168 for info on new lines vs
  136.    new paragraphs.) This is somewhat important, because paragraph spacing
  137.    cannot be used if the entire article is one paragraph, and things like
  138.    automatic drop caps and bullets will only appear at the start of the
  139.    article. You can fix this by positioning the insertion point at the
  140.    start of each 'paragraph' (new line), then pressing Backspace and then
  141.    Return. Alternatively, if you haven't already made a change to the
  142.    document in 3.0, simply reload the 2.2 document into 3.0b to convert it
  143.    properly.
  144.  - Text was being loaded with Track table set to Normal, which could change
  145.    line breaks. It now loads with Track table set to None.
  146.  - Fixed the problem with PageStream2 text frames having multiple columns
  147.    on loading.
  148.  
  149.  MACROS & AREXX:
  150.  - added the sendtopageliner script.
  151.  
  152.  MISC:
  153.  - Loading a 3.0 document now preserves double-sided master page.
  154.  - PageStream 2.2 documents now load unnamed.
  155.  - Changed AmigaDOS 2.x color allocation to be more stingy with colors.
  156.  - Text frame backgrounds now default to transparent instead of opaque. If
  157.    you have saved your Toolbox Preferences, you can change this and then
  158.    save your settings again.
  159.  - Settings/Screen: if the Display DPI text gadgets are blank, PageStream
  160.    will use the default resolution for most standard screen modes now. This
  161.    is convenient if you often switch between screens of different standard
  162.    resolutions. If you enter values, it won't switch automatically.
  163.  - Problems with moving drawings containing groups and lines are resolved.
  164.  - Several of the filters have been reduced in size to save memory.
  165.  - Fixed problems with master pages renaming to default.
  166.  - Added a busy pointer when showing font samples.
  167.  - Added the ability to change PageStream3's interface colors. Refer to the
  168.    Screen option in the Interface topic group in the main PageStream3 Help
  169.    screen for more information. You must download the PS3B3.LHA archive to
  170.    get the new version of the help files.
  171.  - The Visual Reference gadgets in the Help system did not work under
  172.    AmigaDOS 2.x. The new help files in the PS3B3.LHA archive fix this
  173.    problem. Depending on when you received PageStream3 and whether you had
  174.    AmigaGuide on your system already, the WDisplay utility may not have been
  175.    installed in your Sys:Utilities directory. If it is not there and you have
  176.    AmigaDOS2, you should decompress it from the Guide.LHA archive on your
  177.    original disk 2.

  179.  BME
  180.  - New Emboss and Sharpen effects have been added! Refer to the help system
  181.    for information. (The new help files are included in the PS3B3.LHA
  182.    archive.)
  183.  
  184.  NOTES:
  185.  - You cannot rotate/slant/twist Compugraphic fonts beyond 50 degrees in
  186.    either direction at this time. (This includes rotating Compugraphic
  187.    fonts in frameless text objects.) Other font formats can be rotated
  188.    without restriction.
