  9. WHAT PATCH FILES DO I NEED?
  10.  
  11. To reduce the amount you need to download, we have provided patches
  12. from all recent versions. Most people should just need to download a
  13. single patch (two files). If you have an older version, the most you
  14. will need to download is two patches (four files).
  15.  
  16.  To upgrade from 3.0h2->3.0i: download PGS32I.LHA and PGS3I.LHA.
  17.  To upgrade from 3.0h ->3.0i: download PGS3HI.LHA and PGS3I.LHA.
  18.  To upgrade from 3.0g ->3.0i: download PGS3GI.LHA and PGS3I.LHA.
  19.  To upgrade from 3.0f ->3.0i: download PGS3FI.LHA and PGS3I.LHA.

  21. After you have downloaded both files, decompress them both to the
  22. same directory and then run the installer.
  23.  
  24. If you don't have one of these versions, you will first need to
  25. upgrade to 3.0f:
  26.  
  27.  To upgrade from 3.0e ->3.0f: download PGS3EF.LHA.
  28.  To upgrade from 3.0d ->3.0f: download PGS3DF.LHA and PGS3F.LHA.
  29.  To upgrade from 3.0c ->3.0f: download PGS3CF.LHA and PGS3F.LHA.
  30.  To upgrade from 3.0b ->3.0f: download PGS3BF.LHA and PGS3F.LHA.
  31.  To upgrade from 3.0a ->3.0f: download PGS3AF.LHA and PGS3F.LHA.
  32.  To upgrade from 3.0  ->3.0f: download PGS30F.LHA and PGS3F.LHA.

  34. This update requires disk 1 of your original PageStream3 disk set.
  35. It will not be modified by the update.
  36.  
  37. You must have sufficient free hard drive space to use this patch. 4MB
  38. of free space is recommended.
  39.  
  40. If you're not sure what version of PageStream3 you have installed,
  41. run it and check the version number in the Navigator requester.

  44. USING THIS PATCH
  45. ----------------
  46.  
  47. IF YOU HAVE 5MB OR MORE OF RAM, you can decompress the archives to
  48. RAM and not worry about memory limitations.
  49.  
  50. IF YOU HAVE 4MB OF RAM, you can decompress the archives to RAM, but
  51. you must delete the archives from RAM before running the patch.
  52. (Copy them somewhere safe in case you need them again!)
  53.  
  54. IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 4MB OF RAM, you cannot use PageStream3.0i.
  55. This version requires at least 4MB of memory.
  56.  
  57. A drawer called "3.0iUpdate" will be created when you decompress
  58. the patches. Both archives contain this Read.1st! file, so your
  59. decompression program will ask if you it is ok to overwrite the
  60. first Read.1st! file; this is normal. Double click on the
  61. Install-PageStream3.0i icon in this drawer to begin.

  63. YOU SHOULD KEEP A COPY OF THE PATCH FILES UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE
  64. SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED THIS UPDATE IN CASE YOU NEED TO RUN IT AGAIN
  65. OR MANUALLY. If you delete them after decompressing them, and
  66. something goes wrong during patching, you will have to download them
  67. again! If you have adequate hard drive space, simply select the
  68. PageStream3 directory and choose Copy from the Workbench's Icon menu
  69. to make a complete duplicate of your PageStream3 directory. If you
  70. have a problem with the patch, you will have a backup to restore.

  72. TECHNICAL NOTES: this update will patch the PageStream3, BME and
  73. PageLiner program files in your PageStream3: directory. Every other
  74. file changed from 3.0h2 is included. If you purchased an add-on
  75. module such as the TextFX extension, it will be patched to the
  76. latest version if required.

  78. LOW MEMORY NOTES: If you do not have enough memory to install this
  79. patch (the SAS patch utility will fail if there is not enough free
  80. memory), you can conserve memory by decompressing the patch archives
  81. to your hard drive instead of to RAM:. If the patch fails due to low
  82. memory, you will not be able to use PageStream3 until you have
  83. successfully installed the patch because you will then have a
  84. mixture of 3.0i and earlier files. If you need to run the patch
  85. manually, decompress the PGSpatch.LHA (or BMEpatch.LHA or
  86. PLpatch.LHA files as applicable) archive found in the PGS3H21.LHA
  87. file. Use the spatch utility from this archive. The command syntax
  88. is:

  90. spatch -oPageStream3:PageStream3.0i -pPageStream.pch PageStream3:PageStream3

  92. spatch -oPageStream3:BME2.0e -pBME.pch PageStream3:BME
  93.  
  94. spatch -oPageStream3:PageLiner2.0g -pPageLiner.pch PageStream3:PageLiner

  96. The first parameter is the new version, the second parameter is the
  97. patch file name (include the path if required), and the third
  98. parameter is the currently installed version of PageStream3. Delete
  99. the old version (PageStream3, BME or PageLiner) when you're done and
  100. then rename the new version to the old version (ie, PageStream 3.0h2
  101. to PageStream3).

  103. UPDATE OPTIONS: If you want 3.0i on disk, you can order it from
  104. Soft-Logik sales for just $10.
  105.  
  106. If you have previously compressed the PageStream3, BME or PageLiner
  107. program files with something such as PowerPacker, you will probably
  108. not be able to use this patch, even if you decompress them.
