  12. You need two files to upgrade:
  13.  
  14. 3.1 beta 10 to 3.1 final:
  15. - pgs31.lha and pgs31_10.lha
  16.  
  17. 3.0i (installed from online patch) to 3.1 final:
  18. - pgs31.lha and pgs31_i1.lha
  19.  
  20. 3.0i (installed from disk) to 3.1 final:
  21. - pgs31.lha and pgs31_i2.lha
  22.  
  23. 3.0i German to 3.1 final:
  24. - pgs31.lha and pgs31_i3.lha
  25.

  27. TO USE THIS PATCH:
  28.  
  29. 1. This update requires disk 1 of your original PageStream3 disk set. It
  30. will not be modified by the update.
  31.  
  32. 2. You must have sufficient free hard drive space to use this patch. 4MB
  33. of free space is recommended.
  34.  
  35. 3. Download both files and decompress them to the same directory before
  36. installing.

  39. USING THIS PATCH
  40.  
  41. IF YOU HAVE 5MB OR MORE OF FREE RAM, you can decompress the archives to
  42. RAM and not worry about memory limitations.
  43.  
  44. IF YOU HAVE 4MB OF FREE RAM, you can decompress the archives to RAM, but
  45. you must delete the archives from RAM before running the patch. (Copy
  46. them somewhere safe in case you need them again!)
  47.  
  48. IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 4MB OF FREE RAM, you must decompress the archives
  49. to a hard drive directory because you'll need all your RAM for the patch.
  50.  
  51. A drawer called "3.1Final" will be created when you decompress the
  52. archive. Double click on the Install-3.1 icon in this drawer to begin.

  55. YOU SHOULD KEEP A COPY OF THE PATCH FILES UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE
  56. SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED THIS UPDATE IN CASE YOU NEED TO RUN IT AGAIN!

  58. If you delete them after decompressing them, and something goes wrong
  59. during patching, you will have to download them again! If you have
  60. adequate hard drive space, simply select the PageStream3 directory and
  61. choose Copy from the Workbench's Icon menu to make a complete duplicate
  62. of your PageStream3 directory. If you have a problem with the patch, you
  63. will have a backup to restore.

  66. LOW MEMORY NOTES
  67.  
  68. If you do not have enough memory to install this patch (the patch utility
  69. will fail if there is not enough free memory), you can conserve memory by
  70. decompressing the patch archives to your hard drive instead of to RAM:.
  71. If the patch fails due to low memory, you will not be able to use
  72. PageStream3 until you have successfully installed the patch because you
  73. will then have a mixture of new and old files. If you need to run the
  74. patch manually, decompress the PGSpatch.LHA archive. Use the spatch
  75. utility from this archive. The command syntax is:
  76.  
  77. spatch -oPageStream3:PageStreamNew -pPageStream.pch PageStream3:PageStream3
  78.  
  79. The first parameter is the new version, the second parameter is the
  80. patch file name (include the path if required), and the third
  81. parameter is the currently installed version of PageStream3. Delete
  82. the old PageStream3:PageStream3 file when you're done and then rename the
  83. new version to the normal name (ie, PageStreamNew to PageStream3).

  85. If you have previously compressed the PageStream3 or BME program files
  86. with something such as PowerPacker, you will probably not be able to use
  87. this patch, even if you decompress them.
