  13. Welcome to Cyco's AM-Classic for Windows.
  14.  
  15. Many AutoCAD users will already be familiar with the AutoManager family of
  16. products for the DOS environment. Now, Cyco is developing these powerful
  17. tools for the Windows environment as well.
  18.

  20. ABOUT THIS VERSION
  21. ------------------
  22. This is AutoManager Classic for Windows 4.3, the first member of the
  23. AutoManager product family to be available for Windows.
  24.  
  25. This demonstration version is meant for demonstration, evaluation and
  26. testing purposes only. If you want to use this product in business, or if
  27. you want to use it for any other professional or production purpose, you
  28. can purchase a resale version at your Cyco dealer.
  29.  
  30. To remind you that this is a demonstration version, this program pops up a
  31. message each time you start it.
  32.  
  33. As its name implies, the features provided by AM-Classic for Windows can
  34. be compared with those of AM-Classic for DOS. However, AM-Classic for
  35. Windows is not just ported from the DOS environment; it was specifically
  36. designed and implemented for the Windows environment. See the list of
  37. features below for Windows-specific functions.

  40. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  41. -------------------
  42. Running AM-Classic for Windows requires a PC with 2Mb of memory, running
  43. MS-Windows Version 3.1. AutoCAD is not required. You may also use Windows
  44. 3.0, but this is not recommended. Real mode is not supported.

  47. INSTALLATION
  48. ------------
  49. Installing AM-Classic is easy:
  50. o   Start Windows
  51. o   Put the installation diskette in drive A: (or another floppy disk
  52.     drive).
  53. o   Choose 'Run' from the 'File' menu of Program Manager.
  54. o   Type "x:\SETUP.EXE" as the program name and choose OK.

  57. FEATURES
  58. --------
  59. AM-Classic for Windows offers the following:
  60.  
  61. o   Fast and easy drawing file viewing (both .DWG and .DXF file formats
  62.     are supported).
  63.  
  64. o   Supports the Windows drag-and-drop feature. This makes the Windows
  65.     File Manager a perfect companion for AM-Classic.
  66.  
  67. o   The Multiple Document Interface (MDI) lets you view multiple drawings
  68.     simultaneously.
  69.  
  70. o   Built-in scheduling keeps the hour-glass away, even if multiple
  71.     drawings are being processed at the same time.
  72.  
  73. o   You can easily select and view layers, blocks and views.
  74.  
  75. o   You can copy images of drawing files to the clipboard as bitmaps or in
  76.     metafile format.
  77.  
  78. o   The 'Launch AutoCAD...' option makes it easy to start AutoCAD with a
  79.     drawing you have found using AM-Classic.
  80.  
  81. o   The 'Insert Block in AutoCAD...' and 'Xref Block in AutoCAD...'
  82.     options let you use AutoManager as a 'Block picker' for AutoCAD.
  83.  
  84. o   A Toolbar called 'AM-Remote' that lets you access certain features in
  85.     AM-Classic in an even easier way.
  86.  
  87. o   The Help system guides you through all of AM-Classics concepts,
  88.     features, functions and options.

  90.  
  91. Power users and people with some programming experience enjoy the
  92. following:
  93.  
  94. o   AM-Classic can act as a 'DDE-Server'. This means that you can control
  95.     AM-Classic from other programs. To show how easy this is, we provide
  96.     you with the source code of AM-Remote, which is written in Visual
  97.     Basic.
  98.  
  99. o   With DDE and BaseLISP, the embedded language of AM-Classic, you can
  100.     send information to other programs. This is the way the 'Insert Block
  101.     in AutoCAD...' and 'Xref Block in AutoCAD...' options are implemented.
  102.  
  103. o   Customizable menu options make it possible to extend AM-Classic's
  104.     functionality. In fact, some of the menu options are already
  105.     implemented as customizable menu options. Each option triggers
  106.     execution of a command string, which consists of one or more BaseLISP
  107.     expressions.
