- DocsBoot+ is now being distributed using a new format, a 1440KB
- disc image. This is meant to make DocsBoot+ more convenient, as all
- of the needed programs and files are on this disc, and it includes a
- new bootable installer (so DocsBoot+ can be installed and configured
- without any particular operating system present).
-
- The DocsBoot+ archive includes only seven files : this file
- (README.DOC), the DocsBoot+ image (DOCSBOOT.IMG), the DOS image
- converter program (TODISC.COM), the image converter batch jobs
- (MAKEDISC.BAT, MAKEDISC.CMD, UPGDISC.BAT, UPGDISC.CMD). THE OTHER
- DOCSBOOT+ FILES ARE ON THE DISC WHEN THE CONVERSION IS FINISHED.
- PLEASE LOOK AT THE DISC FOR THE DOCUMENTATION AND UTILITY PROGRAMS!
-
-
- To make a new DocsBoot+ disc, insert a blank 1440KB disc, then
- type `MAKEDISC' (leave the quotes out) at a command prompt from where
- you unpacked the DocsBoot+ archive.
-
- To upgarde an older DocsBoot+ disc, insert the disc, then type
- `UPGDISC' at a command prompt from where you unpacked the DocsBoot+
- archive. UPGDISC WILL NOT PRESERVE YOUR SETTINGS -- all it does is
- upgrade the programs, and retain the registration data. Sorry.
-
- If your 1440KB drive is B, you can make the batch jobs work by
- typing `MAKEDISC 1' or `UPGDISC 1' at the command prompt instead.
-
- If you have problems with the disc converter, try reformatting
- the disc (use a long or unconditional format). Then run the TODISC
- program directly, like this :
-
- TODISC -q 0 DOCSBOOT.IMG (if your 1440KB drive is A)
- TODISC -q 1 DOCSBOOT.IMG (if your 1440KB drive is B)
-
- This disables inline formatting and verification, two things which
- seem to cause problems from DOS boxes in certain environments.
-
-
- If your operating system is incompatible with the disc converter,
- you can use any program which will copy the image to the disc in a
- sector-by-sector fashion (the image is nothing more than a copy of the
- sectors in the disc). WARNING : The image MUST be placed on a fully
- formatted 1440KB disc which contains no bad sectors to work properly.
