  17. The complete product consists of the following seven files: (WSOS21.EXE)
  18. contains the installation program, (WSOS22.EXE) contains the requester files,
  19. (WSOS23.EXE) contains the Windows libraries and RPL files, (WSDRV1.EXE)
  20. contains the LAN drivers, (OS2UT1.EXE) contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON
  21. utilities, (OS2DC1.EXE) contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF
  22. format, and (OS2VMB.EXE) contains the VLM Boot diskette image.

  50. The NetWare Client version 2.1 for OS/2 electronic documentation is now
  51. available in native OS/2 format.  Because the native OS/2 formatting does not
  52. require much disk space, the documentation is now available as a standard part
  53. of the client kit download rather than as a separate download from NetWire.

  112. Installation Instructions:
  113.  
  114. INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS for the NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11
  115.  
  116. This client product supports all OS/2 2.x releases made before December 19,
  117. 1994, and replaces all previous 2.x versions of the NetWare Client for OS/2.
  118.  
  119. NOTE: If you have OS/2 1.3, you need to obtain the NetWare Requester 1.3 for
  120. OS/2 instead of this product.
  121.  
  122. The NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11 consists of seven self-extracting
  123. files:
  124.      WSOS21.EXE contains the installation program
  125.      WSOS22.EXE contains the requester files
  126.      WSOS23.EXE contains the Windows libraries and RPL files
  127.      WSDRV1.EXE contains the LAN drivers
  128.      OS2UT1.EXE contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities
  129.      OS2DC1.EXE contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF format
  130.      OS2VMB.EXE contains the VLM Boot diskette image
  131.  
  132. Once these files are downloaded, there are 3 methods that can be used to
  133. complete the installation of the NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11:
  134.  
  135. Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  136. Method 2: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  137. Method 3: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  138.  
  139. Instructions for each method follow.

  143. Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  144.  
  145. NOTE:     You must have a version of the NetWare Client software already
  146. installed on your workstation and be connected to the network in order to use
  147. this install method.  You cannot install to and from the same drive. Example:
  148. You cannot install from C: to C:
  149.  
  150. 1.   To install the NetWare Client software to your hard disk, you must have
  151. adequate disk space to allow for the client to install. (about 4 MB)
  152.  
  153. 2.   At the network drive, create a directory called TEMP.  This directory can
  154. be deleted later.
  155.  
  156.      Example:  At the J:\ prompt, type
  157.  
  158.           MD TEMP
  159.  
  160. 3.   Extract WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and
  161. OS2DC1.EXE into the TEMP directory.  The self extracting file will
  162. automatically create the required subdirectories.  Change to the directory
  163. where WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and
  164. OS2DC1.EXE reside.  DO NOT change to the TEMP directory.
  165.  
  166.      Example:  At the command line, type
  167.  
  168.           WSOS21 J:\TEMP\
  169.  
  170. Do this for each self extracting file in turn.  This will extract all the
  171. files into the TEMP subdirectory.
  172.  
  173.  
  174. 4.   In an OS/2 Command Line Session, CD into the TEMP directory and type
  175. INSTALL.  The NetWare Client for OS/2 Installation screen will appear. Follow
  176. the instructions that appear on the screen to install the NetWare Requester on
  177. the workstation. NOTE: Make sure and place the local disk drive letter as the
  178. target directory.
  179.  
  180. 5.   Delete your TEMP directory if desired.

  184. Method 2: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  185.  
  186. 1.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  187.  
  188. 2.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  189.      Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  190.      Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  191.      Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  192.      Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  193.      Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  194.      Disk 6    OS2DOC_1
  195.  
  196.      Example:  At the command line, type
  197.  
  198.           Label A: WSOS2_1
  199.  
  200. 2.   Extract the .EXE files to their corresponding diskettes.  The correct
  201. directory structure will be created automatically on the diskettes.
  202. Self-extract WSOS21.EXE onto WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE onto WSOS2_2, etc.

  204.      Example:  At the command line, type
  205.  
  206.           WSOS21 A:
  207.  
  208. 3.   After creating the six diskettes, insert the disk labeled WSOS2_1
  209. diskette in drive A.
  210.  
  211. 4.   Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the INSTALL.EXE program.
  212. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen appears.
  213.  
  214. 5.   Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to complete the
  215. install.

  219. Method 3: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  220.  
  221. 1.   Create the following subdirectories on your hard disk: WSOS2_1, WSOS2_2,
  222. WSOS2_3, WSDRV_1, OS2UTIL_1, and OS2DOC_1.
  223.  
  224.      Example:  At the C:\ prompt, type
  225.  
  226.           MD WSOS2_1
  227.  
  228. 2.   Extract the .EXE files into their corresponding subdirectories, the
  229. correct directory structure will be created in each subdirectory.  WSOS21.EXE
  230. into WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE into WSOS2_2, etc.
  231.  
  232.      Example:  At the command line, type
  233.  
  234.           WSOS21 C:\WSOS2_1\
  235.  
  236. 3.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  237.  
  238. 4.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  239.      Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  240.      Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  241.      Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  242.      Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  243.      Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  244.      Disk 6    OS2DOC_1

  246. Example:  At the command line, type
  247.  
  248.           Label A: WSOS2_1
  249.  
  250. 5.   Insert diskette labelled WSOS2_1 into drive A:.
  251.  
  252. 6.   Change directory to WSOS2_1 on your hard disk.
  253.  
  254. 7.   Type the following at the command line:
  255.  
  256.           XCOPY *.* /S /E /V A:
  257.  
  258. 8.   Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the remaining five diskettes. Ensure that the
  259. files are copied from the correct directory to the corresponding labelled
  260. diskettes.
  261.  
  262. 9.   After creating the six diskettes, insert WSOS2_1 diskette in drive A.
  263.  
  264. 10.  Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the INSTALL.EXE program.
  265. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen appears.
  266.  
  267. 11.  Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to complete the
  268. install.

  271. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR VLM BOOT
  272.  
  273. OS2VMB.EXE contains a DOS boot image file and a Novell DOS 7 image utility
  274. (DISKCOPY.COM).
  275.  
  276. IMPORTANT:  DISKCOPY.COM can only be run from an actual DOS workstation, not
  277. from an OS/2 DOS session.
  278.  
  279. Instructions for Creating the VLM Boot Diskette:
  280.  
  281. 1.  On the actual DOS workstation, create a subdirectory named VLMBOOT.
  282.  
  283. 2.  Copy OS2VMB.EXE to the newly created VLMBOOT directory.
  284.  
  285. 3.  Extract OS2VMB.EXE by running it.
  286.  
  287. 4.  Insert a 1.44 MB formatted diskette into drive A:.
  288.  
  289. 5.  Change to the VLMBOOT subdirectory.
  290.  
  291. 6.  Create the image disk by typing DISKCOPY VLMBOOT.350 A:
  292.  
  293. 7.  For more information about VLM Boot, refer to the NetWare Client for OS/2
  294. version 2.11 User Guide in both printed and online formats.
