  20.          This is P-Screen's Quick Reference Guide.  While you're running
  21.          P-Screen, you can press F1 (Help) to view several help screens
  22.          -or- view this guide.

  24.           * Since this is a simple ASCII (DOS text) file, you can edit
  25.             it to: 1) delete material you don't need; or, 2) add your
  26.             own tips, reminders, ideas, etc.  If you add comments:

  34.             handle nearly every ASCII character), or be sure your printer

  91.          To run P-Screen, at the DOS prompt, type:    p-screen <cr>

  93.          In order to run, P-Screen must find the file P-SCREEN.PSL on
  94.          the drive/directory you're on (ie., the "current path").  If
  95.          it's not there, P-Screen displays an error message and ends.
  96.          This file contains help screens, some menus, etc.

  98.          To use P-Screen's Big! Font (tm) option, the font files (with
  99.          the extension ".fnt") must also be on the "current path."

  103.          ═════════════ CHOOSING OPTIONS:  MENUS or HOTKEYS  ═════════════

  105.          Choose options using either pull down menus or keyboard "hotkeys."
  106.  
  107.          Menus are NOT normally visible.  That's so you'll have the full
  108.          screen with which to work.  To call up the menus, press "/" -or-
  109.          the LEFT mouse button.  When you do, a "menu bar" appears at
  110.          the top of your screen, and the last menu you used drops down.
  111.          If you haven't used the menus yet, this "File" menu drops down:

  262.          Most Alt-Key options are mneumonic and intuitive. For example,
  263.          Alt-D = Draw, Alt-M = Move, Alt-P = Paint, Alt-E = Erase, etc.  To
  264.          use these options, hold down the Alt key then press another key.

  281.          ════════════════════════ TIPS and HINTS ══════════════════════════

  283.          Load and Save Screens to ONE drive/directory:  the one you're on.
  284.          ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
  285.          Although you can load and save screens from any drive/directory
  286.          (by pressing F2, F3 or F4 and then pressing F2 - Directory),
  287.          it's much easier to keep ALL files on ONE path.  That'll save
  288.          you many keystrokes since you won't have to keep typing in a
  289.          path each time you load or save a screen.
  290.  
  291.          If you use floppy disks and don't have room on one disk for
  292.          P-Screen, it's font and screen files, plus all your screen
  293.          files, put P-Screen.Exe on one disk and ALL other files on a
  294.          second disk.  Log onto the SECOND DISK (eg. the one in drive
  295.          a:) then type something like:  b:p-screen <cr>.
  296.            * If you do this, remember that P-Screen's "required files"
  297.              must be on the drive/directory you're logged onto (not
  298.              necessarily where P-Screen.Exe is).

  300.            * Required files include P-Screen.Psl and font files (*.fnt).

  303.          Learn to use:  REPEAT, CLIPBOARD, RE-COLOR and COPY
  304.          ───────────────────────────────────────────────────
  305.          Each of these options can save lots of time.
  306.           * You can repeat most Alt-key options.  Just move the cursor
  307.             to a new spot and press Alt-R.
  308.  
  309.           * Copy (Alt-C) and the clipboard (Alt-K) help you duplicate
  310.             sections of your screen.  The clipboard works "across"
  311.             screens -- it's retained if you load other screens.

  314.          Saving Sub-Screens -or- ".ASM" screens
  315.          ──────────────────────────────────────
  316.          To save a sub-screen (a "partial" screen), -or- to save ".ASM"
  317.          screens, you must mark the area of the screen you want to save.
  318.           * Begin by placing the cursor at the upper left corner of the
  319.             "block" (rectangle) you want to save.
  320.  
  321.           * Press F3 to save a sub-screen, or press F2 then select ASM
  322.             to save an ".ASM" screen.
  323.  
  324.           * Now move the cursor to the opposite corner (ie., the bottom
  325.             right) and press either <cr> or the left mouse button.

  328.          Where possible, display subscreens from your programs
  329.          ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────
  330.          The smaller the screen, the faster it loads and is displayed.
  331.          Wherever possible, use subscreens to speed up your programs.

  334.          Save Time-Critical Screens First
  335.          ────────────────────────────────
  336.          Screens near the front of screen libraries load faster than
  337.          screens near the end (it takes DOS longer to find later screens).
  338.          So, save the screens you need loaded fast first.  MANAGER makes
  339.          it easy to re-group library screens in any order you want.
