  112.   Important - please read the following terms and conditions.

  114.   Downloading the Service Fixes included in FixPak XRSM001 for Warp 4
  115.   indicates your acceptance of the following terms and conditions:
  116.  
  117.   1.  You must be, and agree that you are, a current licensee of OS/2
  118.       Warp 4.
  119.   2.  You may make copies of the OS/2 Service Fixes equal to the number
  120.       of licensed copies of OS/2 Warp 4 you possess.
  121.   3.  You may only use the OS/2 Warp 4 Service Fixes included with
  122.       FixPak XRSM001 for maintenance purposes.
  123.   4.  All other terms and conditions of your OS/2 Warp 4 license
  124.       agreements apply to the Service Fixes; however, this does not
  125.       extend any warranty and/or services, including but not limited to
  126.       the "Initial Installation" period, outlined in such agreements.

  172.   MULTIMEDIA NO LONGER SELECTABLE
  173.  
  174.   IBM Multimedia Presentation Manager/2 (MPM) is now fully integrated
  175.   into the base OS/2. As part of this change, the
  176.   \MMOS2\INSTALL\SYSLEVEL.MPM file has been deleted. This means you will
  177.   no longer see it as a selectable entry in the Serviceable Products
  178.   window when using the A:SERVICE method of installation.

  181.   APAR JR09494(TRAP EXITING WINOS2 WITH MWAVE AUDIO)
  182.  
  183.   The fix for APAR JR09434 (trap exiting winos2 with MWAVE audio)
  184.   requires a new MWAVEVDD.SYS dated 11/96 or later. This should be made
  185.   available by the IBM PC Company. It is not supported by PSP, nor is it
  186.   available from PSP.

  191.   If you get a popup about MMPARTS.DLL during install, reply "Yes" to
  192.   replace it.

  197.   If you install a new printer by clicking MB2 on the Printer icon in
  198.   the templates folder then clicking on Install, the printer object will
  199.   now be created in the Printer folder, not on the Desktop.

  232.   You must use release level F.133 or later of the OS/2 Corrective
  233.   Service Facility Diskettes to install this FixPak.  Check the
  234.   BUILD.LVL file on the first CSF disk for the level you are using.  If
  235.   it does not have a BUILD.LVL file then it is older than the F.133
  236.   level and should not be used.

  295.   Use LOADDSKF.EXE to create the diskettes. For each disk image, place a
  296.   2MB HD (1.44MB formatted) diskette in A:.
  297.  
  298.   Warning: DO NOT use a 1MB (720KB formatted) diskette because you might
  299.   have problems trying to install this FixPak.
  300.  
  301.   For each diskette image in the FixPak, do the following:

  327.   If the following is true:
  328.  
  329.   1.  You upgraded your system from OS/2 2.11 or Warp 3
  330.   2.  You applied one or more FixPaks to the previous system
  331.   3.  You HAVE NOT applied a Warp 4 FixPak
  332.  
  333.   You will have files and directories left on your harddisk that will
  334.   cause problems when installing a Warp 4 FixPak.

  342.   To prevent these problems from occurring, do the following before
  343.   applying your first Warp 4 FixPak.
  344.  
  345.   On your Warp 4 boot drive:
  346.  
  347.   ■   Delete \OS2\INSTALL\LOGF0000.OS2
  348.   ■   ATTRIB -R \OS2\INSTALL\LOGSTART.OS2
  349.   ■   Delete \OS2\INSTALL\LOGSTART.OS2
  350.  
  351.   On the drive where Multimedia Presentation Manager is installed:
  352.  
  353.   Note: This can be your Warp 4 boot drive or any other drive on your
  354.   system.  Check the "SET MMBASE=" statement in CONFIG.SYS to determine
  355.   which drive this is.
  356.  
  357.   ■   Delete \MMOS2\INSTALL\LOGF0000.MPM
  358.   ■   ATTRIB -R \MMOS2\INSTALL\LOGSTART.MPM
  359.   ■   Delete \MMOS2\INSTALL\LOGSTART.MPM
  360.  
  361.   Remove the old Archive and Backup directories and SERVICE.LOG file to
  362.   revocer the space they are using.
  363.  
  364.   You should also remove the FixPak Archive and Backup directories left
  365.   over from your updated OS/2 2.11 or Warp 3 system at this time as well
  366.   as the \OS2\INSTALL\SERVICE.LOG file.
  367.  
  368.  
  369.   READ-ONLY FILES
  370.  
  371.   Some files being updated by this FixPak may have the Read-Only
  372.   attribute set. If you are using the A:SERVICE method to install this
  373.   FixPak you will be asked if you want the files replaced.
  374.  
  375.   Press the "OK" button.
  376.  
  377.  
  378.   SYSLEVEL FILE LOCATIONS
  379.  
  380.   This FixPak will service directories based on the location of a
  381.   supported SYSLEVEL.OS2 file.  Please check your system to make sure
  382.   extra copies of this file are not located in directories other than:
  383.  
  384.     \OS2\INSTALL\SYSLEVEL.OS2 on the boot drive of your OS/2 partition(s)
  385.  
  386.  
  387.   If additional copies of these files are found in other locations on
  388.   your hard disk then CSF will try to service files as follows:
  389.  
  390.   For \OS2\INSTALL\SYSLEVEL.OS2

  405.                subdirectories.

  414.   RELOCATED OS/2 FILE SUPPORT
  415.  
  416.   If you have moved OS/2 files or directories to a drive other than the
  417.   one the SYSLEVEL.OS2 file is on, do the following in order to have
  418.   them serviced:
  419.  
  420.   ■   Create a file named USERDIRS.OS2 in the \OS2\INSTALL directory of
  421.       the OS\2 Warp 4 partition to be serviced.
  422.  
  423.       In this file, place the full path to the directories you want to
  424.       be serviced. Assuming your boot drive is C:, examples would be:
  425.

  446.   apply. The easy way to create this file is to use the DIR command with
  447.   the /A:D /S /B parameters and pipe the output to a file.

  460.   Note: You should be able to use entries like D:\MMOS2\* and
  461.   E:\OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\* in this file but that does not work correctly
  462.   with the current release of CSF.  This will be fixed in a future
  463.   release.

  520.   BEFORE INSTALLATION
  521.  
  522.   Before installing any FixPak, run CHKDSK /F against all drives on your
  523.   system to correct any file system errors that might be present. You
  524.   cannot do this while OS/2 is active. You must shut down and run CHKDSK
  525.   by one of the following methods:
  526.  
  527.   ■   Boot from your Installation, DISK 1 and DISK 2 diskettes.  If your
  528.       file system is HPFS, then put the diskette with CHKDSK and
  529.       UHPFS.DLL on it in your A: drive before issuing the CHKDSK
  530.       command.
  531.   ■   Boot from the Utilities disk you created via the "Create Utility
  532.       Diskettes" icon in the System Setup folder.
  533.   ■   Boot from a different OS/2 partition.
  534.  
  535.   Reboot your system then shutdown all running applications.
  536.  
  537.  
  538.   METHOD 1: INSTALL FROM BOOTED OS/2 PARTITION.
  539.  
  540.   This method allows you to select the products (partitions) to be
  541.   serviced.
  542.  
  543.   This is the method you should use if you have more than one OS/2
  544.   partition and want to control which one is serviced.
  545.  
  546.   Note: You can use a diskette drive other than A: with this method. If
  547.   your 3.5" diskette drive is B:, use B: where A: is mentioned in the
  548.   following steps.  (this method only).
  549.  
  550.   1.  Insert CSF DISK Diskette 1 in drive A.
  551.   2.  Open an OS/2 window or full-screen session.
  552.   3.  Type A:\SERVICE and press the Enter key.
  553.  
  554.       Note: You could also use the "Drives" object for A: and double
  555.       click on the "SERVICE.EXE" Icon to start the install.
  556.   4.  Follow the displayed instructions. When prompted to insert
  557.       Corrective Service Diskette 1 (not CSF DISK Diskette 1), place
  558.       FixPak XRSM001 Corrective Service Diskette 1 in drive A. Repeat
  559.       for the rest of the FixPak disks when requested to do so.
  560.  
  561.       Note: It can take a considerable length of time for the Corrective
  562.       Service Facility to scan your hard disk for serviceable files. In
  563.       some cases, it has taken as long as 40 minutes. Please be patient
  564.       and allow this process to complete.
  565.   5.  If this is the first OS/2 Warp FixPak you have applied to this
  566.       system, then enter the path to the ARCHIVE directory where a copy
  567.  
  568.

  574.       of replaced files will be stored (for example, D:\ARCHIVE).
  575.  
  576.       Note: This ARCHIVE directory is not related to the ARCHIVES
  577.       directory built into OS/2 Warp 3.0. Please specify a different
  578.       path.  You must specify a different ARCHIVE directory for each
  579.       product to be serviced.
  580.  
  581.       If this is not the first OS/2 Warp FixPak, then enter the path to
  582.       the BACKUP directory where a copy of replaced files will be stored
  583.       (for example, D:\BACKUP).
  584.  
  585.       Note: You must specify a different BACKUP directory for each
  586.       product to be serviced.
  587.  
  588.       For either case, make sure there is sufficient space available on
  589.       the drive you specify. Even though these files are kept in
  590.       compressed (PACK2) format, they require between 7 and 12 MB of
  591.       disk space.
  592.   6.  Click on "OK".
  593.   7.  You will see an "Application in use" dialog box showing a list of
  594.       locked files that cannot be serviced while the system is running.
  595.       You are given two choices - to Continue or Reboot. Select
  596.       Continue.
  597.   8.  During the installation process you might see messages about
  598.       Archiving, Updating and Deferring service.
  599.       ■   Archiving saves a compressed copy of the original file in the
  600.           ARCHIVE or BACKUP path you specified.
  601.       ■   Updating means the original files are replaced with the new
  602.           ones from this FixPak.
  603.       ■   Deferring service means the file to be updated is currently in
  604.           use by the system and cannot be updated. The new files from
  605.           the FixPak are placed in unpacked format in the \IBMCSFLK\FIX
  606.           directory on the drive with the most free space.  They are
  607.           processed by the locked file device driver during reboot after
  608.           you shut down the system.
  609.   9.  Select NO for a redisplay of the "Product List" after the first
  610.       part of the FixPak application process has completed if this
  611.       message is displayed.
  612.   10. Click Cancel and Exit to close the Corrective Service Facility
  613.       window if necessary.
  614.   11. Shut down and reboot your system.
  615.  
  616.       You will see the following during reboot of the system if you
  617.       applied service to the OS/2 partition you were booted from.
  618.  
  619.      The locked file driver is loaded.

  632.       The system will do one automatic reboot after the Locked File
  633.       Device Driver has completed.
  634.

  637.   METHOD 2: BOOT FROM CORRECTIVE SERVICE DISK 1.
  638.  
  639.   This method does not prompt the user for any information. No
  640.   interaction with the user takes place other than requests to put the
  641.   next diskette in drive A.  All serviceable partitions on your system
  642.   will be updated automatically. Be especially careful of extra
  643.   SYSLEVEL.OS2 or SYSLEVEL.MPM files when using this method because they
  644.   can cause CSF to apply service to directories you do not want
  645.   serviced.
  646.  
  647.   1.  Shut down your OS/2 system.
  648.   2.  Insert CSF DISK Diskette 1 in drive A.
  649.   3.  Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to boot the disk in drive A.
  650.  
  651.   Service will be applied to ALL partitions that contain a version of
  652.   OS/2 that is supported by this FixPak. See the section "FixPak
  653.   Corrective Service levels and disk layouts" for the CSD levels this
  654.   FixPak applies to.
  655.  
  656.   Note: It can take a considerable length of time for the Corrective
  657.   Service Facility to scan your hard disk for serviceable files.  Please
  658.   be patient and allow this process to complete.
  659.  
  660.   Note: You can edit the RESPONSE.FIL on CSF Disk 1 to control some of
  661.   the actions taken by FSERVICE.EXE while applying a FixPak. Use the
  662.   VIEW command to look at the file README.INF on the first CSF disk for
  663.   more information on this.

  666.   ADDITIONAL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FACILITY INFORMATION
  667.  
  668.   Additional information on the Corrective Service Facility, like how to
  669.   backout a FixPak, is available from the README.INF file on the first
  670.   Corrective Service Facility disk. To view this file, place CSF disk 1
  671.   in drive A and enter VIEW A:\README.INF.

  690.   CSD LEVEL OF SYSLEVEL.OS2
  691.  
  692.   The Current CSD level for the "IBM OS/2 Base Operating System" will
  693.   not be changed by installation of this FixPak even though the
  694.   SERVICE.LOG file indicates it will. This FixPak is not a Service Level
  695.   change. It upgrades the existing service level (XRS4000); therefore
  696.   the SYSLEVEL is not changed. All fix information is recorded in the
  697.   SERVICE.LOG file.
  698.  
  699.   Look at the file
  700.  
  701.      \OS2\INSTALL\SERVICE.LOG
  702.  
  703.  
  704.   on your boot drive for information relating to the installation of
  705.   this (or any) FixPak on your system. To see the current level and
  706.   other related information use the SYSLEVEL command.
  707.
