We have included this QuickStart file to help you start realizing the benefits of AutoMight Plus as quickly as possible. You'll find this product will save enormous amounts of time for you when you allow it to replace as many repetitive tasks as possible.
What You Need to Run an Event
To process an event, Auto-Might Plus needs to know three things:
- What time of day and on what date the events should be processed.
- How frequently the event should be processed (only once, hourly, weekdays, weekends, daily, weekly, bi-weekly,monthly, or yearly).
- The executable file to bring up and run in that program or utility.
Selecting an Executable File for an Event
The Event field of the Auto-Might Plus main window is used to define which program you want Auto-Might Plus to run for you; only one file may be defined for each event. In the
Event field, you must enter the name of an executable file, which can be any one of three types: (1) an executable file that has the extension .EXE, (2) a batch file with the extension .BAT, or (3) a Windows program information file with the extension .PIF.
You can define the executable file by selecting the file from a list box.
To select the file, click on the Browse button. The Select a File window appears with two list boxes, one for selecting a directory and another for selecting the file within that directory. Below the Directories list box is another box for selecting another hard drive. Below the File Name
window is another box that you can use to display only one type of file, such as those with the .EXE extension or .PIF extension.
Double-click on a file to select it as the executable file for this event, click OK.
Using and Recording Macros
Auto-Might Plus starts the executable file you select in the Event Window. Once this application or batch file is running, you might need to enter more keystrokes to operate the program. In this case, use the Macro feature of Auto-Might Plus. This feature allows you to record keystrokes
you name and save them as a macro; you then select a macro in the Macro Name field on the main Auto-Might Plus window. Note that only one macro can be used per event.
Recording a Macro
To record a macro, begin by starting the executable file in Windows, then switch to Auto-Might Plus and click the Macros button on the main Auto-Might Plus window. The Auto-Might
Macro Recorder window appears. After recording a macro, you should test it using the Play button. You can edit a macro using the Edit button to change such things as time delays
or if it does not work properly.
Click the New button, then name your macro. When you are ready to begin recording keystrokes, click the Record button. Everything you type on the keyboard will now be
recorded until you click the End Recording button. Note that mouse functions and movements can not be recorded, only keystrokes. Type exactly as you want Auto-Might Plus to
type for you. Remember that these keystrokes can be commands that operate a program (you can use all CTRL and ALT key combinations).
Chapter 4 of the Auto-Might Plus User Manual tells you more about the macro feature.
Testing and Editing Macros
After recording a macro, you should test it; you can then edit the macro and change keystrokes, insert time delays, or add keywords.
Testing a Macro
To test a macro, select it in the Macro Name list box on the Auto-Might Macro Recorder window. Then click Play to run the selected macro. The macro will run exactly as it was recorded, including any mistakes you made, such as backspacing to erase characters.
Editing a Macro
You can change or add keystrokes in a macro if it does not work properly, or if you are creating a macro from a Blank Macro. You can also insert time delays in a macro. First select the macro in the Macro Name list box on the Auto-Might Macro Recorder window, then click the Edit button.
Keywords are non-printing keystrokes, such as the ALT or CTRL keys, backspace, shift, and more. These keywords are recorded even though you do not see them when typing.
Pauses are also macro keywords. You can find a complete list of keywords in the Auto-Might Plus User Manual in the section entitled Macro Syntax.
A new undocumented syntax feature to insert a wait or pause in a macro has been added. The _pause x, allows the user to insert a pause anywhere within a macro statement, where x equals the number of seconds you wish the macro to pause. For example:
_pause 60
inserts a 60 second pause in the macro and then resumes playing.
