- This document instructs how to use the Interior demo, and
- contains other important information. Please read the instructions
- carefully.

- At <http://www.softlab-nsk.com> you can find an overall description of
- the project and the demo. All proposals regarding development of
- virtual reality applications are welcome.

- Requirements
-
- - IBM PC 486DX or compatible with a math co-processor (Pentium highly
- recommended)
-
- - vesa-compatible VGA card with at least 512K videoRAM. Vast majority
- of modern videocards meet this criteria, so most likely does
- yours. Some older cards require some program started before the
- application, to provide vesa-compatible interface. (Do not mix with
- vesa local bus - this is a different thing.)

- - 8 Megabytes of memory

- - Mouse
-
- - DOS 5.0 or higher or Windows95. When Windows95 is used, DOS mode is
- strongly recommended

- - DOS driver for the mouse. (Also needed in DOS mode of Win95, but not in
- Win95 dos window.)

- To get the demo running:
-
- 1.Download the demo. When asked about how to handle the file, choose
- "Save To Disk", and select the location where you want the demo to
- reside; it should be some empty directory. Now you can click here
- to download the demo. If you have problems downloading the demo via
- http, the same demo is available via ftp, at
- ftp://ftp.softlab-nsk.com/pub/interior.exe

- 2.The file is a self-extracting archive. When the file is downloaded,
- either click on it to start if you are in Windows, or go to DOS and in
- the directory where you saved the file enter
-
- interior <enter>
-
- several files will be created as a result of the extraction.

- 3.If you have SoundBlaster-compatible sound card, then edit file
- named inter.ini and change line
-
- sound=off
- to
- sound=on
-
- 4.To start the demo:
-
- inter.bat <enter>
-
- Command reference
-
- Once you started the demo, use the following keys and actions to control it:
-
- 1.To move Forward/Backward - press and hold left/right mouse button.
- To stop forward/backward movement - release the button.

- 2.To move Up/Down - press and hold <UpArrow>/<DownArrow> key.
- To stop Up/Down movement - release the key.

- 3.To look Up/Down - shift mouse up/down.

- 4.To look Left/Right - shift mouse left/right.

- 5.To move Left/Right - press and hold <LeftArrow>/<RightArrow> key.
- To stop Left/Right movement - release the key.

- 6.To exit program and return to DOS press <Esc> and click "exit" in
- main menu. or just press <q> key.

- 7.To press a key on a "virtual" control panel of the module you need to make the
- following:
-
- 1.go to the needed control panel as close as possible (so that
- all titles are clearly visible) press <M> key - 3d red-blue is then
- visible
-
- 2.place the cursor over the button on the control panel by moving the
- mouse.

- 3.press and hold left mouse button until the red-blue pointer
- hits the button on the control panel

- 4.release the mouse button and press <M> to continue control of
- viewer position.

- 8.To get to any of the predefined positions press <0>, <1>, <2>, ...
- or <9> key

- 9.To return to <DOS> press <q>.
