  3.                    SoftLab-Nsk - Interior demo

  6. This document instructs how to use the Interior demo, and 
  7. contains other important information. Please read the instructions 
  8. carefully. 
  9.  
  10. At <http://www.softlab-nsk.com> you can find an overall description of 
  11. the project and the demo. All proposals regarding development of 
  12. virtual reality applications are welcome. 
  13.

  17.      "DEMO" IS PROVIDED AS IS, WITHOUT A WARRANTY OF ANY

  20.      YOU ARE FREE TO RE-DISTRIBUTE THE DEMO, PROVIDED THAT

  26.                        Requirements 
  27.  
  28. -   IBM PC 486DX or compatible with a math co-processor (Pentium highly
  29.     recommended) 
  30.  
  31. -   vesa-compatible VGA card with at least 512K videoRAM. Vast majority 
  32.     of modern videocards meet this criteria, so most likely does 
  33.     yours. Some older cards require some program started before the 
  34.     application, to provide vesa-compatible interface. (Do not mix with 
  35.     vesa local bus - this is a different thing.) 
  36.  
  37. -   8 Megabytes of memory 
  38.  
  39. -   Mouse 
  40.  
  41. -   DOS 5.0 or higher or Windows95. When Windows95 is used, DOS mode is
  42.     strongly recommended 
  43.  
  44. -   DOS driver for the mouse. (Also needed in DOS mode of Win95, but not in
  45.     Win95 dos window.)

  49.                   To get the demo running: 
  50.  
  51.   1.Download the demo. When asked about how to handle the file, choose 
  52.     "Save To Disk", and select the location where you want the demo to 
  53.     reside; it should be some empty directory. Now you can click here 
  54.     to download the demo. If you have problems downloading the demo via 
  55.     http, the same demo is available via ftp, at 
  56.     ftp://ftp.softlab-nsk.com/pub/interior.exe 
  57.  
  58.   2.The file is a self-extracting archive. When the file is downloaded, 
  59.     either click on it to start if you are in Windows, or go to DOS and in 
  60.     the directory where you saved the file enter 
  61.  
  62.         interior <enter>
  63.  
  64.     several files will be created as a result of the extraction. 
  65.  
  66.   3.If you have SoundBlaster-compatible sound card, then edit file
  67.     named inter.ini and change line 
  68.  
  69.          sound=off 
  70.              to 
  71.          sound=on

  73.   4.To start the demo:

  75.         inter.bat <enter>
  76.  
  77.                     Command reference 
  78.  
  79. Once you started the demo, use the following keys and actions to control it: 
  80.  
  81.   1.To move Forward/Backward - press and hold left/right mouse button. 
  82.     To stop forward/backward movement - release the button. 
  83.  
  84.   2.To move Up/Down - press and hold <UpArrow>/<DownArrow> key. 
  85.     To stop Up/Down movement - release the key. 
  86.  
  87.   3.To look Up/Down - shift mouse up/down. 
  88.  
  89.   4.To look Left/Right - shift mouse left/right. 
  90.  
  91.   5.To move Left/Right - press and hold <LeftArrow>/<RightArrow> key. 
  92.     To stop Left/Right movement - release the key. 
  93.  
  94.   6.To exit program and return to DOS press <Esc> and click "exit" in 
  95.     main menu.  or just press <q> key. 
  96.  
  97.   7.To press a key on a "virtual" control panel of the module you need to make the
  98.     following: 
  99.  
  100.       1.go to the needed control panel as close as possible (so that 
  101.         all titles are clearly visible) press <M> key - 3d red-blue is then 
  102.         visible 
  103.  
  104.       2.place the cursor over the button on the control panel by moving the
  105.         mouse. 
  106.  
  107.       3.press and hold left mouse button until the red-blue pointer 
  108.         hits the button on the control panel 
  109.  
  110.       4.release the mouse button and press <M> to continue control of 
  111.         viewer position. 
  112.  
  113.   8.To get to any of the predefined positions press <0>, <1>, <2>, ... 
  114.     or <9> key 
  115.  
  116.   9.To return to <DOS> press <q>.
