  7. Unzip all files to      c:\HIDX
  8.  
  9. If you have unzipped to a different directory, create the
  10. directory HIDX on drive c: and copy the files there. There
  11. is no installation program at this time.

  15. The documentation for HIDX is contained in the file HIDXDOC.HTM.

  17. You can read this with your WWW browser by opening it as a local
  18. file. In Netscape select Open File from the File menu, or press ctl-O.

  20. Most browsers are capable of printing the document, or saving
  21. it in text form for printing with a word processor.

  25. To connect or not to connect.
  26. ----------------------------

  28. It is not necessary to be connected to the net to read the documentation,
  29. although some links are available to the outside (e.g. getting the
  30. latest version and registering). If you have not figured out how
  31. to run your browser offline, you may want to do that now. The whole
  32. purpose of HIDX is to access local documents, and there is no point
  33. in paying by the hour to connect to the net when you don't need to.

  35. If you are not paying by the hour, you may as well connect.

  37. If you are using Trumpet, you can select Manual Login from the
  38. Scripts menu and press ESC to use your browser offline. If you
  39. find a link that you want to follow, it is only necessary to select
  40. Trumpet and log in with your usual procedure at that time.

  42. You can also use MOZOCK.DLL in place of WINSOCK.DLL as a dummy
  43. winsock, but that will not allow you to reconnect without
  44. restarting Windows. There are a number of other dummy winsocks
  45. available as freeware or shareware.
