  26.  1. PRODUCT OVERVIEW
  27.  ---------------------------------------------------------
  28.  BS/1 Small Business is a suite of accounting programs
  29.  designed for use by small to medium-sized businesses.
  30.  
  31.  The multi-currency feature facilitates selling and purchasing
  32.  internationally. Payments are processed through separate bank 
  33.  accounts and converted to domestic currency in the GL system.   
  34.  
  35.  Invoices and checks may be handwritten or computer printed.
  36.  
  37.  User-defined financial statements can be created through 
  38.  a simple set-up process. GL account balances can be viewed 
  39.  on screen with drill-down to original source transactions.
  40.  
  41.  The Paradox file system provides good performance for at
  42.  least 10 simultaneous users.

  44.  The system design is optimized for simplicity and ease of
  45.  use rather than tight security.

  50.  2. MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  51.  ---------------------------------------------------------
  52.  BS/1 Small Business requires Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51
  53.  or a 100% compatible operating system, an 80486 or better
  54.  processor, and 16Mb of system memory.
  55.  
  56.  About 10Mb of disk space is required for program files.

  61.  3. INSTALLATION
  62.  ---------------------------------------------------------
  63.  Before installation, you MUST un-install any previous version.
  64.  BUT FIRST! To save your data you should first copy the folder
  65.  (directory) containing your tables. eg. create folder named
  66.  C:\BS1\DataOld and copy to it the contents of C:\BS1\Data.
  67.  You should also back up your data. After installation, import  
  68.  your old data via the "Import" option on menu File -> General.
  69.  
  70.  If you downloaded bs1sb.zip (or bs1sb1xx.zip etc.) you must 
  71.  unzip (decompress) the file using PKZip, WINZip or a similar
  72.  utility. PKZip is available from www.pkware.com. 
  73.  
  74.  bs1sb.zip unzips into 3 directories: disk1, disk2, and disk3.
  75.  Directory disk1 contains the installation program, setup.exe
  76.  
  77.  To start the installation, run the SETUP.EXE program by double- 
  78.  clicking on it or via Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

  183. LICENSE AGREEMENT

  185. This is a legal agreement between you and Davis Business Systems Ltd. ("DBS").  
  186. YOU SHOULD CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEFORE RUNNING THE 
  187. INSTALL PROCEDURE FOR THE SOFTWARE PACKAGE.  INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE PACKAGE 
  188. INDICATES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.  IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO 
  189. THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, DELETE THE BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS SOFTWARE FILES FROM 
  190. YOUR COMPUTER.  PLEASE PRINT A COPY OF THIS AGREEMENT FOR YOUR FILES.  DBS MAY 
  191. MODIFY THIS AGREEMENT AT ANY TIME, FOR ANY REASON WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE TO YOU.

  193. 1.  DBS grants you a non-exclusive, royalty-free license, as provided for herein, 
  194. for the use of DBS's computerized accounting system ("BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS") in 
  195. association with your IBM or compatible personal computer, modem and printer and 
  196. for no other purpose.  You agree to adhere to DBS's instructions as provided in 
  197. BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS and its related materials for the installation and use of BS/1 
  198. SMALL BUSINESS.  DBS may modify or upgrade BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS at any time for any 
  199. reason. 
  200.  
  201. 2.  BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS is owned by DBS and is protected by Canadian copyright laws, 
  202. international treaty provisions and all other applicable national laws.  Therefore, 
  203. you must treat BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS like any other copyrighted material (e.g. book).  
  204. You may not copy any written materials accompanying BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS.
  205.  
  206. 3.  You may not rent or lease BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS, sub-license or otherwise transfer 
  207. or encumber its rights or obligations hereunder without the prior written approval of DBS.
  208.  
  209. 4.  You understand and acknowledge that the License is strictly limited to its terms 
  210. and, in particular, grants no rights to any other person and is restricted in its 
  211. application solely for use by you.  You may not transfer, transmit, disclose, modify, 
  212. translate, adapt, reproduce, decompile, reverse engineer or disassemble BS/1 SMALL 
  213. BUSINESS or any documentation related thereto without DBS's written approval.
  214.  
  215. 5.  You shall indemnify and save harmless DBS from and against any and all claims, suits, 
  216. actions, costs (including reasonable legal fees and disbursements) or other liabilities 
  217. to any person whatsoever arising in any way out of or in respect of any breach by you of 
  218. your obligations or the restrictions set forth in this Agreement.
  219.  
  220. 6.  DBS represents and warrants that BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS is provided "as is" without 
  221. warranty of any kind, for your use and at your sole risk.  DBS DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, 
  222. EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY 
  223. AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WITH RESPECT TO BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS AND ANY ACCOMPANYING 
  224. WRITTEN MATERIALS.  THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES THAT BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS WILL MEET ALL OF YOUR 
  225. REQUIREMENTS OR THAT ITS OPERATION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE, OR THAT ANY DEFECT 
  226. IN BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS WILL BE CORRECTED.  DBS MAKES NO WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATIONS RELATING 
  227. TO THE RESULTS OF YOUR USE OF BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS WITH RESPECT TO ITS CAPABILITY, CORRECTNESS, 
  228. ACCURACY, RELIABILITY OR OTHERWISE.  NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION, REPRESENTATION OR ADVICE 
  229. GIVEN BY DBS OR AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE OF DBS SHALL CREATE A WARRANTY.
  230.  
  231. 7.  IN NO EVENT SHALL DBS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, 
  232. DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, 
  233. DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION, 
  234. OR OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS) ARISING OUT OF THE INSTALLATION, USE OR REMOVAL OF OR INABILITY TO 
  235. USE BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS, EVEN IF DBS HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.  
  236.  
  237. 8. This License will terminate without notice to you upon your failure to comply with any 
  238. provision of this License or DBS's instructions regarding BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS.  Upon 
  239. termination you must immediately cease using BS/1 SMALL BUSINESS and delete all copies of 
  240. same from your computer.  The provisions of Sections 2, 6, and 7, will survive termination 
  241. of this Agreement.
  242.  
  243. 9. This Agreement constitutes the entire Agreement between the Parties relating to the subject 
  244. matter hereof and supersedes all prior agreements, written or oral, between the Parties relating 
  245. to the subject matter hereof.  There are no other terms including without limitation any 
  246. representation and warranties other than those provided herein.  No waiver, amendment, addition 
  247. or deletion to this Agreement shall be binding unless approved in writing by DBS.
  248.  
  249. 10. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia.  Each of the 
  250. parties hereto irrevocably attorns to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of British 
  251. Columbia and further agrees to commence any litigation which may arise hereunder in the courts 
  252. of British Columbia.
