  1.             NETLINX Quickstart
  2.             ------------------

  4. The following are the steps to quickly get NETLINX up and running.
  5.  
  6. 1. Unzip the files to a sub-directory.
  7.  
  8. 2. Print out NETLINX.TXT in case you need clarification.
  9.  
  10. 3. Connect the PCSAV41 system service in writable mode.
  11.  
  12. 4. Copy NETLINX.EXE to the \PCAPP directory on PCSAV41.
  13.  
  14. 5. Copy THREED.VBX and VBRUN300.DLL to the PC's Windows\System directory.
  15.  
  16. 6. Copy NETLINX.INI to the PC's \WINDOWS directory.
  17.  
  18. 7. Edit the NETLINX.INI file. If it is not self explanatory then read the
  19.    relevant section in NETLINX.TXT
  20.  
  21. 8. Copy the PRINTERS.TXT and SERVICES.TXT files to where you have pointed 
  22.    them to in NETLINX.INI.
  23.  
  24. 9. Create a PUBLIC Pathworks servcie on the Vax, called USERPROF. Ensure 
  25.    that all users have RWED access to it.
  26.  
  27. 10.Connect a drive to the USERPROF service, and create a user profile file
  28.    for the user you wish to use. See the NETLINX.TXT document for 
  29.    clarification on the structure/naming convention for this file. Ensure
  30.    all file and printer services you require are contained in this file.

  32. 11.Don't worry for now about editing the Printer.txt and Services.txt files.
  33.    This can be done once you have NETLINX up and running.
  34.  
  35. 12.Set up a new icon on the PC to point to the NETLINX.EXE file.
  36.  
  37. 13.Click on the icon and you should be away.
