  17. WHAT IT DOES:-

  19. Makes Awave behave exactly (as far as I can tell) as if it were registered, enables 
  20. "registration" too, if that's what you want (you thieving prick).
  21. I don't use Awave much, but the arrogant "annoying pop-up box" and other nagging bullshit pissed
  22. me off, so here's the CRACK. (I hate it when arseholes distribute their shit and then immediately
  23. start whining that you've all but stolen it)

  25. TO DO THE PATCH:-

  27. Put AW31K.exe in your awave dir and run it.
  28.  
  29. TO REGISTER (optional):-

  31. Make a new text file with a ".key" extension (eg. "anything.key")
  32.  
  33. on the first line put:-

  35. Username=[your grandma]
  36.  
  37. (Hint for morons - "your grandma" is an EXAMPLE...)
  38.  
  39. Now choose this keyfile from Awave's "register" function. After the patch, ol' Awave ain't got 
  40. too many clues about what's a good key and what isn't. This registering won't make any 
  41. difference to functionality, just puts a name in.

  43. COMMENTS/HINTS:-

  45. Don't know what would happen if you ran the patch on another version of awave (except that it
  46. wouldn't work).

  48. I used a shareware patcher to make AW31K.EXE (in a rush) - so distributing it is prob 
  49. illegal. If this is a problem, you can just distribute this TEXT file - and people can use a 
  50. hex editor:-

  52. ALTERNATIVE CRACK:-

  54. 1) fire up the hex editor
  55. 2) load awave.exe
  56. 3) search for:-

  74. the result is EXACTLY the same as using the .exe patcher.

  76. ANY PROBLEMS/WORSHIPFUL ADORATION:-
  77. Post something to alt.2600.crackz, I may see it. In particular, I'd be interested if you find
  78. any features in awave that aren't enabled by this crack (I haven't tested much).

  80. If anyone's interested - one of the patches lobotomises the protection routine, the other
  81. destroys a CRC check (Awave does a check on its own code when it loads, to check it hasn't been
  82. modified - and then CRASHES if it has). The protection routine itself uses some 
  83. anti-cracker tricks.
