Instructions For CBI Direct Access Terminal Software
To install the CBI software on to a hard disk:
Insert the diskette into the A drive and close the drive
door. At the DOS prompt A>, enter HINSTALL and press return.
Please follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
This installation assumes that your hard drive is drive C.
If it is not please consult your CBI representative for
instructions.
To start the CBI software:
Using a floppy drive system:
Insert the CBI diskette into the A drive and close the drive
door. Now enter CBI and press return. The software will
automatically load and begin running.
Using a hard drive system:
At the DOS prompt C>, enter CBI and press return.
To enter the default information:
This information need only be set up the first time the
software is run. All of your entries will be saved. These
defaults may be changed at any time while running the
software.
At the main menu press the function key F8. This displays
a question in the middle of the screen. It is asking you if
want to clear out the old information and start with blank
fields. Press return to keep all of the old information.
Press a Y if you want to clear out the old.
After you have answered the question the default screen will
appear. Using your arrow keys you may move to any field that
needs to be changed. Enter the new information and press
return. When a field is filled to the last character it will
automatically move to the next field for you.
When you have finished setting the defaults, press the
function key F10 to return to the main menu.
To enter the client information:
Select option number 1 for the main menu. You will be asked
if you want to create new data. After the question has been
answered, the client information screen will appear. Begin
entering the client information.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You must press the ESC key when you are
finished entering. This saves the information for accessing
the reports.
You may enter as many clients as you need. After an ESC key
has been pressed the fields are cleared and ready for the
next client.
To look at any of the previously entered records press the
function key F2 until the desired record is displayed. Press
function key F3 to display the record in front of the
current record.
To delete a record. Display the record you want to delete
and press the function key F4.
If you have been looking through the records and want to
append more clients to this file, press the F5 function key.
If you are ready to access the reports and do not want to
use
Decode or the DTEC, press F7. This will display your access
screen. Refer to the report access procedure below.
To enter the Decode information:
Select option 2 from the main manu. Answer the new data
question. Begin entering the subscriber numbers. After you
have finished entering, you may either directly access the
report using F7 or return to the main menu.
To delete any of the numbers entered, move the cursor to
that field and press F4. This will delete the number and
move all of the remaining numbers up one.
To enter the DTEC information:
Select option 3 from the main menu. Answer the new data
question. Begin entering the Social Security Numbers. After
you have finished entering, you may either directly access
the reports using F7 or return to the main menu.
To access reports:
Accessing the reports can be done in two different ways.
First the accessed directly from the entry screens by
pressing the F7 function key.
The second way is from the main menu using one of the
selects four through seven.
Selections 4, 5, and 6 accesses only the respective reports
listed. Selection number 7 will report all of report for
which there was information entered.
When one of the described methods for accessing the reports
is done, the Access Report display appears on the screen. A
list of the member number, access type, and the CBI phone
number is displayed. These may be changed by pressing the Up
Arrow key to get to the desired field and entering the new
data. These changes are only in effect for the current
access and do not change the defaults that have been set.
At this point, you are required to enter your security code
and your initials. After these are entered the computer will
access the modem and dial the credit bureau.
In a few moments the reports will be printing on the
printer.
To use KSR:
Select option number 8 from the main menu. Answer all of the
questions that are display on the screen. The computer will
then dial the credit bureau and connect you.
You may toggle the print from the printer to the screen by
pressing F1.
To disconnect press F10 to return to the CBI software or
press F9 to quit.
