  3. The SOMobject Toolkit gives the professional  programmer a toolkit for creating OO class libraries in C or C++ using OMG's IDL for object definitions.

  5. The CORBA compliant SOM IDL Compiler further lets you create Distributed SOM applications that run as multiple processes within a workstation.

  7. The Toolkit's language-neutral support allows applications written in different programming languages to use a common class library.

  9. The SOMobjects Base Toolkit Version 2.0 for OS/2 is a subset of the IBM SOMobjects Developer Toolkit Version 2.0 for OS/2.

  11. Capabilities such as the Replication & Persistence Frameworks and the SOM Collection Classes Library are NOT included in the SOMobj cts Base Toolkit.

  13. Thus the user of the SOMobjects Base Toolkit will not be provided classes or methods:
  14.   o  That support replication of objects in multiple address spaces and maintain consistency among the copies
  15.   o  That save and restore SOM objects to and from a repository, or 
  16.   o  That assist in implementing common data structures such as lists, sets, queues and so forth.
