  1. LAN Adapter Protocol Support (LAPS)

LAPS provides protocol and adapter support for workstation communications.  Operation of TCP/IP requires the LAN Adapter Protocol Support.  TCP/IP writes to the NDIS interface provided by LAPS, and LAPS actually controls the physical network connection.  Without LAPS, TCP/IP cannot access the network adapter.
