- INSTALLATION
- ____________________________
-
- Refer to IBM WorkFrame/2 Introduction for installation instructions.
-
- If problems occur, make sure the environment is set up properly:
-
- 1. The directory containing UNPACK.EXE shipped with the OS/2*
- 2.x operating system is in the PATH statement
-
- 2. The HELP environment variable is pointing to d:\OS2\HELP
- directory, (where d is the startup drive).
-
- 3. This version of the WorkFrame/2 will automatically setup
- the OS/2 Enhanced editor as the default editor. To change
- the default editor, select Configure->Editor... from the
- main action bar.
-
-
- SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
- ______________________
-
-
- The WorkFrame/2 product will end abnormally under the following
- scenario:
-
- 1. A tool is configured with %f as a substitution variable
- in the Parameters string.
-
- 2. A file with no extension is selected.
-
- 3. The tool mentioned above is selected from the Tools pull down.
-
- This problem will be corrected in a future Corrective Services
- Diskette.
-
-
- DOCUMENTATION CHANGES
- _____________________
-
- 1. In the Program Type group, a radio button labeled "Windows"
- has been added. This allows the user to install WIN-OS/2*
- tools in the Tools pull down menu. However, the tool
- can only be started in WIN-OS/2 full screen mode.
-
- 2. To run a DOS-hosted compiler, create a language profile and
- specify CMD.EXE as the language compiler, and then specify
- the DOS compiler as a parameter to CMD.EXE. For example,
- specify "/K DOS_compiler.exe %f" in the compiler options
- dialog.
-
- 3. If you use tools (compilers, linkers, or other tools) that
- are DOS-hosted, output from these tools is sent to a DOS
- session. Therefore, you cannot select or drag an error
- message to an editor session to see the context of the error
- or get help for it. However, if your tool is OS/2-hosted
- with DOS as the target environment, this restriction does not
- apply.
-
- 4. Special considerations when using hidden windows and the
- Switch list pull down:
-
- Windows or folders that are hidden (not minimized) will appear
- in the Configure Switch List dialog as visible / jumpable, just
- as they would if they were minimized.
-
- However, if you select a hidden window or folder in the Configure
- Switch List dialog (so that it will appear in the Switch
- list pull-down menu), selecting that menu item will not resurface
- the window/folder.
-
- Hidden windows and folders must be resurfaced from the OS/2
- Window List.
-
- Alternatively, you can use the Window page of the Settings
- notebook to change the minimized button behavior for the window
- or folder.
-
- 5. Special considerations when using the Configure/Background/Bitmap
- option:
-
- WorkFrame/2 Version 1.x does not support compressed bitmap formats
- or bitmap array formats. Attempts to load a compressed bitmap into
- the WorkFrame/2 client area will result in the message "The bitmap
- cannot be loaded: return code = 2." An example of a compressed
- bitmap is the OS2LOGO.BMP shipped with OS/2.
