  1. Welcome to the Fujitsu Microelectronics February 1997
  2. CD-ROM.  To receive updates of this CD-ROM,
  3. don't forget to complete a registration form. 
  4. We have provided three methods to complete your registration:
  5. 1) Shrink-wrapped with the CD-ROM is a registration Business 
  6. Reply Card, just complete and drop in the mail.
  7. 2) On the CD Welcome Page, click on CD-ROM Registration. 
  8. Here you will find a form with delivery instructions.
  9. 3) Visit our WWW site to complete an on-line registration. 
  10. From the homepage, click on the CD-ROM registration button
  11. and when prompted enter "cdrom" as the username and "FMIVOL" 
  12. as the password. Then, complete and submit the registration 
  13. form.

  15. This information packed CD-ROM comes with Adobe ®Acrobat® 
  16. Reader version 3.0.  This software will allow you to easily 
  17. view all the content and datasheets Fujitsu Microelectronics 
  18. has provided. Please follow the instructions below for simple 
  19. installation on your particular platform.
  20.  
  21. Fujitsu recommends you install Version 3.0 of Adobe Acrobat 
  22. Reader provided on this CD if you are a Windows or Macintosh 
  23. user. Older versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader should be 
  24. uninstalled and/or removed. Version 3.0 of the Acrobat Reader 
  25. includes search capabilities that allow you to conduct keyword
  26. searches of the entire CD. 
  27.  
  28. To activate the search capabilities, follow these instructions
  29. after you have installed the provided Acrobat Reader: 
  30. 1) On the tool bar, click on the "small binocular with 
  31. document" icon furthest to the right.
  32. 2) In the pop-up window, click on "Indexes...".
  33. 3) Click on "Add...".
  34. 4) From the CD-ROM drive, choose the file "index.pdx", then 
  35. click "OK".
  36. 5) The Fujitsu index will be added to the available indexes. 
  37. Choose "OK". Then simply, click on the same "small binocular 
  38. with document icon", type in a keyword or phrase, then select 
  39. "Search".

  41. To view the World Wide Web portion of this CD, you will need a 
  42. Netscape browser, version 2.0 or better.  Instructions on how 
  43. to download a Netscape browser follow the instructions for 
  44. installing Adobe Acrobat. 
  45.  
  46. NOTE:
  47. The 1996 Windows versions of the FMIVOL CD-ROM installed a 
  48. Fujitsu folder containing a "Read Me" file into the system 
  49. Program Manager.  This Fujitsu folder and the "Read Me" file 
  50. can now be deleted; the 1996 version of the "Read Me" file is
  51. no longer current.

  53. HOW TO INSTALL ADOBE ACROBAT READER
  54.  =====================================
  55.  
  56. Macintosh Users:
  57. - Double click on FMIVOL icon on the desktop if window is not 
  58. automatically opened.
  59. - To install the copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader provided on the 
  60. CD, double click on the Install Acrobat Reader 3.0 icon.
  61. - To launch the FMIVOL program, Double Click on the FMIVOL 
  62. icon located inside the open window named "DOUBLE_CLICK_ME".
  63.  
  64. Windows 3.x and NT 3.51:
  65. - From the File Manager select the CD-ROM drive.
  66. - Double click on the icon "setup.exe"
  67. - From the Program Manager, open the Fujistu Folder. 
  68. - Double click on the "Fujitsu" icon.
  69. - Note: Installation on Win 3.x system subject to delay at 80%
  70. before continuing the installation.

  72. Windows 95 and NT 4.0 Users:
  73. - From the File Manager select the CD-ROM drive.
  74. - Double click on "setup.exe" 
  75. - Follow installation instructions on your screen.
  76. - From the Start Menu, find the Fujistu folder under Programs. 
  77. - Select the "Fujitsu" icon.
  78.  
  79. Unix Users:
  80. Note: The following instructions are for Unix Solaris(R) 2.3 
  81. or later operating systems.  If you are using another Unix 
  82. operating system please consult the Adobe Acrobat Installation
  83. Guide (Instiguid.txt) file placed in the Unix folder located 
  84. in the Acroread folder on this CD-ROM. 
  85. - If an error message identifying that the CD is not 
  86. compatabile with ISO 9660 specifications appeared when you 
  87. accessed this CD, please disregard.  This CD has been 
  88. partioned for multiple platforms which will not affect 
  89. performance on the UNIX platform.
  90. - Double click on the folder "acroread"
  91. - Double click on the folder "unix"
  92. - Double click on the install icon.
  93. - Run the installation in a shell tool and follow installation 
  94. instructions on your screen.
  95. - When installation is complete, hit return to close the shell
  96. if it does not close automatically.
  97. - To launch the Acrobat Reader, from the file manager, select 
  98. the appropriate directory and double click. Double click on 
  99. the AcroRead folder. Open the "bin" folder and double click on
  100. the Acroread icon. Note: application may be run with or 
  101. without a shell tool.
  102. - Then open the Welcome Page. In the "Selection" window, 
  103. type:  /cdrom/fmivol97/fujitsu/welcome.pdf
  104. - Select "OK" or hit return.
  105.  
  106. Note: for Unix users operating with Sun OS:
  107. The following warning dialog box may appear after installation
  108. and activation of the Adobe Acrobat 3.0 Reader on Unix systems
  109. running Sun OS: 
  110.      "WARNING: Adobe Acrobat 3.0 running on a X11/News server 
  111.      requires patch T100444-74 (OpenWindows V3.0 Server Patch
  112.      3000-122).  Otherwise the Xserver will hang."
  113. Launching Acrobat Reader 3.0 in the Shell Tool without the patch 
  114. may prevent system from hanging.  Otherwise you must obtain a patch 
  115. from Sun Microsystems, Inc., to use Adobe Acrobat 3.0 on your system.
  116. The correct patch is number T100444-76 (T1004444-74 is now obsolete).
  117. The software patch is available from Sun Microsystems, Inc., 
  118. at 415.336.9722.

  121. INSTALLING NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR
  122.  ================================

  124. If you have Internet access, simply FTP to "ftp.netscape.com". 
  125. Select the directory which reflects your platform and read the 
  126. "README" file for further installation instructions. If you have
  127. Web access, you can reach the Netscape home page from this 
  128. URL: "http://home.netscape.com". Once there, click on the 
  129. "DOWNLOAD" button for the latest installation instructions for
  130. your particular platform.  Note: If you need more information 
  131. about accessing your browser using Acrobat Reader please refer
  132. to the "Read Me" file located in the Acroread folder included 
  133. on this CD-ROM.

  136.  DISTRIBUTING THE ACROBAT READERS

  139. Details on the terms of use for the Acrobat Reader products 
  140. are found in the Adobe Systems Incorporated Electronic End 
  141. User License Agreement that is installed with each product.

  144. platforms:
  145. - Macintosh (Acrobat Reader version 3.0)
  146. - Windows (Acrobat Reader version  3.0)
  147. - DOS (Acrobat Reader version  3.0)
  148. - UNIX [Sun] (Acrobat Reader version  3.0)
  149. - UNIX [SGI] (Acrobat Reader version  3.0)

  151. You may make unlimited copies of the Acrobat Reader 3.0 
  152. software (for Macintosh or Windows platforms) or Acrobat
