  9.       merge    - three-way file merge

  11.      SYNOPSIS
  12.       merge    [ -p ] file1 file2 file3
  13.  
  14.      DESCRIPTION
  15.       Merge    incorporates all changes that lead form    file2 to file3
  16.       into file1. The result goes to std. output if    -p is present,
  17.       into file1 otherwise.    Merge is useful    for combining separate
  18.       changes to an    original. Suppose file2    is the original, and
  19.       both file1 and file3 are modifications of file2. Then    merge
  20.       combines both    changes.

  22.       An overlap occurs if both file1 and file3 have changes in a
  23.       common segment of lines.  Merge prints how many overlaps
  24.       occurred, and    includes both alternatives in the result. The
  25.       alternatives are delimited as    follows:

  33.       If there are overlaps, the user should edit the result and
  34.       delete one of    the alternatives.
