- Welcome to CD Showcase. With CD Showcase, you can shop for products in much the
- same way as using a catalog or magazine. And, CD Showcase takes you two steps
- further: you can also purchase and immediately install the products without
- leaving your workstation.
-
- When CD Showcase is started, one of the following occurs, depending on how the
- CD Showcase presentation has been configured.
-
- o The Product Catalog window is displayed
-
- o The Welcome window is displayed. From the Welcome window, click on the
- Continue button to open the Product Catalog
-
- o The Introduction is run, followed by either the Product Catalog or the
- Welcome window.
-
- All of the screens, windows, and dialogs have buttons; just click on the
- available buttons to navigate through.
-
- To find information about this version of CD Showcase, click on the system icon
- located in the left corner of the Title bar on this window and select About....
- The About CD Showcase dialog is displayed which provides information about this
- version of CD Showcase.

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Setting Up CD Showcase ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- The CD Showcase setup program does the following:
-
- o Creates a CD Showcase Folder on your OS/2 Desktop
-
- o Creates a directory for Access keys.
-
- o Install the decryption drivers
-
- o Sets the country and language based on your selections
-
- o Optionally, creates a directory for CD Showcase files on your hard drive
-
- o Optionally, updates the CONFIG.SYS file with CD Showcase information
-
- Note: After you complete the setup procedure, you must reboot your computer
- system before you can install a product from CD Showcase.
-
- To set up CD Showcase:
-
- 1. On the OS/2 command line type: x:\setupos2.exe, where x: is the drive
- letter of the CD-ROM, then press Enter. Or, you can open the view of the
- CD-ROM root directory using the OS/2 Workplace Shell and double-click on
- the setupos2.exe icon.
-
- 2. When the initial Setup window is displayed, click the Setup button. You can
- run CD Showcase without running setup.
-
- 3. When the Setup dialog is displayed, complete the fields in the Setup dialog
- and click the OK button.
-
- 4. Shut down your computer system and reboot.
-

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Selecting a Product ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- With CD Showcase, you just select a product listed in the Product Catalog. You
- can then view everything you need to know about it in the Product Notebook.
-
- To select a product, begin at the Product Catalog. Then:
-
- 1. Highlight a product in the Product Catalog list box.
-
- Because of the variety of customized options that CD Showcase offers with
- each CD-ROM, the Product Catalog for this CD-ROM may also include a
- Category drop-down box.
-
- 2. Click the Details button. The Product Notebook opens.
-

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Product Catalog ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

- The Product Catalog displays the available products.
-
- When you're interested in finding out about a product listed, just highlight it
- and click the Details button. The Product Notebook then displays.

- The product lock indicator is present for locked products, you need to unlock
- these products before you can access them. Some of the products available on
- this version of CD Showcase may not have a product lock indicator present on
- the Product Catalog. For products without a product lock indicator, highlight
- the product and click on the details button. Read the information on the
- Product Notebook to find out how to access the product.

- CD-ROM, the Product Catalog for this CD-ROM may also include a Category

- Many of the products available on this CD-ROM are locked and you must enter
- access keys to access them. You received an access key for a locked product at
- the time you received the CD.
-
- You may unlock a product from the Product Notebook. To unlock a product:
-
- 1. From the Product Notebook, click the Unlock button. The Unlock dialog
- displays.
-
- 2. Complete the Unlock dialog.
-
- A message displays indicating the product has been successfully unlocked.
- You can now access the product from the CD-ROM.
-

- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. Installing a Product ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- To install a product:
-
- 1. Click the Install tab on the Product Notebook. The Install page appears and
- lists additional information about installing the product.
-
- 2. Follow the install instructions listed on the Install page. If the product
- is locked, you receive an access key at the time you received the CD. If
- you have not entered the access key, you must do so before you can install
- the product. Refer to Unlocking a Product.
-
- 3. Click the Install button. The product's install program runs.
-
- 4. Follow the product's install procedure as it displays on your screen.
-
- Some of the products available on CD Showcase do not have an install procedure.
- Instead the install page contains a Copy button. The product is not installed
- but the program files are copied to your hard disk. Refer to Copy Dialog for
- more information.
-

- Use the Setup dialog to specify directories on your computer system where CD
- Showcase can write the data that lets you access products from the CD-ROM. The
- Keys directory must be on a local, fixed disk. The data requires 1MB of free
- disk space.

- Note: After you complete the setup procedure, you must reboot your computer
- system before you can install a product from CD Showcase.
-
- To specify CD Showcase directories:
-
- 1. In the Keys directory entry field, type the name of the directory where you
- want CD Showcase to write the access keys. You can also click the Find
- button to choose from a list of directories. The Keys directory must be on
- a local, fixed disk and initially requires 1MB of disk space.

- 2. Specify Country and Language settings from their drop-down list boxes. The
- drop-down list boxes will list all the Country and Language choices
- available on your version of CD Showcase.

- 3. For better performance, check the Install files on hard disk checkbox. In
- the Install directory entry field, either type in the directory where you
- want the CD Showcase files or use the Find button to choose from the list
- of directories. The Install directory cannot be the same directory as the
- Keys directory.

- 4. If you want CD Showcase to update your CONFIG.SYS file, check the Update
- CONFIG.SYS file automatically checkbox.

- If you want to manually update your CONFIG.SYS file, remove the check in
- the Update CONFIG.SYS file automatically checkbox. The information that you
- must then manually add to the CONFIG.SYS file can be found in the
- CONFIG.ADD placed in the Keys directory during setup.

- 5. Click the OK button.

- 6. Shut down your system and reboot.

- currently supported by CD Showcase.

- information you need to know about a product when deciding whether to purchase
- it. The information displays directly on your computer monitor, so you can shop
- for products without leaving your workstation.

- To browse through a Product Notebook, click the notebook tabs or the navigation
- arrows. The following illustration shows an example of the notebook tabs and
- navigation arrows:

- Located along the bottom edge of each Product Notebook, the notebook tabs
- categorize the contents of a Product Notebook. You can click on a notebook tab
- to view the contents of a Product Notebook.
-
- Located along the lower right-hand edge of each Product Notebook, the
- navigation arrows let you view each page associated with a notebook tab, as
- well as scroll and display additional notebook tabs.
-
- You can click the left and right navigation arrows to view each notebook page
- and to display additional notebook tabs.
-
- To scroll to additional notebook tabs, you can click the smaller double arrows
- located next to the left-most tab and beneath the left and right navigation
- arrows.

- Use the Install page to install the product or to copy all of the product files
- from the CD-ROM to your hard disk. Before manufacturing this CD-ROM, the
- product supplier defines whether you can install a product or copy the product
- files.

- To install a product:
-
- 1. Follow the install instructions listed on the Install page. If the product
- is locked, you received an access key with the CD. If you have not entered
- the access key, you must do so before you can install the product. Refer to
- Unlocking a Product.
-
- 2. Click the Install button. The product's install program begins.
-
- 3. Follow the product's install procedure as it displays on your screen.
-
- If the Product Notebook contains an Uninstall tab, you can click on the
- Uninstall tab and follow the Uninstall procedure to Uninstall the product.

- To copy the product files to your hard disk:
-
- 1. Follow the copy instructions listed on the Install page. If the product is
- locked, you received an access key with the CD. If you have not entered the
- access key, you must do so before you can copy the product files. Refer to
- Unlocking a Product.

- 2. Click the Copy button. The Copy destination dialog appears.
-
- 3. Complete the fields on the Copy destination dialog.

- Use the Copy dialog to specify the drive and directory on your computer system
- where you want to copy the files associated with the product.

- Enter the name of a drive and directory, or click the Find button to choose
- from a list of directories.

- The Copy Status dialog box appears to show the status of the program files
- being copied to your hard disk.

- The Accept License Agreement dialog displays the product license for the
- product. Review the product license. If you agree with the conditions of the

- The Unlock dialog lists the locked products, and lets you enter and save the
- access key for each. The access key is necessary to unlock a locked product, so
- that you can access it from the CD-ROM. You received the access key with the
- CD.

- To unlock a product:

- 1. Select a product from the product list.

- 2. In the Access key entry field, enter the access key.
-
- 3. In the License Number entry field, enter the License Number. You receive
- your License Number with the CD.

- 4. Click the Save button. A message displays indicating the product has been
- successfully unlocked. You can now access the product from the CD-ROM.

- license agreements that allow access from more than one computer system. You
- are not required to make copies of the product files. Complete the CD
- Showcase unlock procedure on each computer system where you want to install

- pages. Browsing the Product Notebook, provides hints on how to navigate. The

- The Introduction button lets you view an introduction or advertisement for this
- version of CD Showcase. The Introduction button displays only if an
- introduction or advertisement is available with this CD-ROM. The name of the
- button and the button graphic are options of this presentation. The default
- name of this button is Introduction but can be changed to Preview or any other
- button title. The graphic can also be changed to reflect the theme of the
- presentation. The Introduction button will always appear in the lower left of
- the Product Catalog, so just click on the button in the lower left of the
- Product Catalog to view the introduction.

- The Details button lets you open the Product Notebook.

- The Category drop-down box lists the types of products available on this
- CD-ROM. If a Category drop-down box is shown on the Product Catalog, you can

- The Product Catalog displays the available products. If this CD Showcase
- presentation includes a Welcome window, you can click the Continue button on

- When you're interested in finding out about a product listed, highlight it and
- click the Details button or you can double-click on the product. The Product
- Notebook displays. You can then click the Catalog button to return to the
- Product Catalog.

- The product lock indicator is present for locked products. You need to unlock
- these products before you can access them. Some of the products available on
- this version of CD Showcase may not have a product lock indicator present on
- the Product Catalog. For products without a product lock indicator, highlight
- the product and click on the details button. Read the information on the

- Because of the variety of customized options that CD Showcase offers with each
- CD-ROM, the Product Catalog for this CD Showcase presentation may also include

- the Product Notebook, you can click on the Uninstall tab and follow the
