  13.  This is the second Aminet release of the FilterDesigner.
  14.  The program designs optimized Finite Impulse Response
  15.  (FIR) Filters. There are optimized versions for the
  16.  
  17.    MC 68000
  18.    MC 68020
  19.    MC 68040
  20.  
  21.  OS 2.x is required. The program makes use of big
  22.  Workbench screens but runs on every standard Amiga.
  23.  
  24.  The problem of designing finite impulse response (FIR) digital
  25.  filters experienced great activity in the early 1970`s. Most of
  26.  this work was directed at the problem of optimal filter design,
  27.  in the weighted Chebyshev sense. The algorithm for this program,
  28.  by McClellan, Parks and Rabiner, will design the optimal Chebyshev
  29.  approximation for linear phase filters. The Chebyshev optimization
  30.  is done very efficiently by means of the Remez exchange algorithm,
  31.  and this particular FIR filter design program has found wide use.
