- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 9. About the Add User program ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- The Add User program is an interactive program you use to set up your
- environment to share the IBM WorkFrame/2(TM) product from a LAN server. This is
- different from an actual installation, because most of the files reside on the
- LAN, and are not copied to your target directory.
-
- You can also use this utility if you want to use the WorkFrame/2 product from a
- boot drive other than the one the files were installed under. Assuming the
- files are available to all boot drives, you can use this utility to update your
- OS2.INI file to point to the WorkFrame/2 directory.
-
- To start the Add User program, select Install from the Option pull-down menu.
- The Add User Options dialog lets you specify where the files are installed
- and/or created.
-
- The Add User program creates the main WorkFrame/2 directory and any additional
- files you choose, and copies the necessary files to your hard drive.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 10. Key Assignments ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 11. Add User Options Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Use this dialog box to select the options for your IBM WorkFrame/2(TM)
- environment. If you are using Add User for the first time, the default options
- are shown. If you are updating your environment, the options you chose the
- last time you used Add User are shown.
-
- You must indicate the source path where the WorkFrame/2 directory is installed.
- from which the Add User program was invoked.
-
- You can choose the drive and directory where WorkFrame/2 files are to be copied
- to, and whether you want to copy the language profiles, projects, and bitmaps
- to your working directory.
-
- The other options allow you to customize your working environment by creating a
- user profile, a command file to invoke the WorkFrame/2 program, and a
- WorkFrame/2 folder on the Desktop. The program can also update the environment
- variables in your CONFIG.SYS file to include the WorkFrame/2 directories.
-
- The IBM-supplied defaults copy all language profiles, project files, and
- bitmaps to the IBMWF directory on your boot drive. They also create a user
- profile, command file, and Desktop folder, but do not update your CONFIG.SYS
- file.
-
- If no options are selected, the Add User program will only update your OS2.INI
- file to point to the main WorkFrame/2 directory.
-
- Help is available for each field by selecting the field and pressing F1. Help
- is also available by the same method for each pushbutton at the bottom of the
- dialog box.
-
- When you have specified the options you want, click on the OK pushbutton to set
- up a new user's environment.
-
- Note: If you are using the WorkFrame/2 product from a LAN server, you need at
- least a user profile to start the product and the language files to
- perform any actions (such as compile and link).
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 12. Target path - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Use this field to specify the drive and directory where the necessary IBM
- WorkFrame/2(TM) files are to be installed.
-
- The target drive cannot be A or B.
-
- The default path is the directory IBMWF on your boot drive.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 13. Update CONFIG.SYS - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- You can have the Add User program update your CONFIG.SYS file to include the
- correct environment variables for the IBM WorkFrame/2(TM) product (such as the
- PATH and LIBPATH).
-
- If you do not choose this option, you must add C:\IBMWF\DLL to the LIBPATH
- variable in CONFIG.SYS (substitute your target Add User directory for
- C:\IBMWF).
-
- The other commands required to set up the WorkFrame/2 environment will be
- placed in the WFENV.CMD file.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 14. User's profile - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Select this option to copy the user's profile (IBMWF.INI) from the source path
- to your target directory.
-
- The profile allows you to customize the IBM WorkFrame/2(TM) interface. It
- stores information such as the contents of the tools list, the fonts and colors
- chosen, and other user preferences.
-
- If the profile has already been customized, you may want to copy it from the
- source path.
-
- Note: You must have a user profile to start the WorkFrame/2 product.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 15. Language profiles - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Select this option to copy all language profile files to your target directory.
-
- Language profiles specify the compiler, linker, make utility, and debugger to
- be associated with a project. Language profiles have the extension .PRJ.
-
- You need a language profile to be able to perform any actions (such as compile
- or link) on a project.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 16. Project files - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Select this option to copy all project control files to your target directory.
-
- Project control files contain the information about each project, such as the
- directory, the file to create, and the compile and link options. Project
- control files have the extension .PRJ.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 17. Bitmaps - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Select this option to copy all bitmap (.BMP) files to your target directory.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 18. Create user's profile - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Select this option to create a user profile (IBMWF.INI) that you can customize.
-
- IBMWF.INI stores information such as the contents of the tools list, the fonts
- and colors chosen, and other user preferences.
-
- If the profile has already been customized, you may want to copy it from the
- source path instead of creating a new one. To copy the profile, select User's
- profile from the Copy files group.
-
- Note: You must have a user profile to start the IBM WorkFrame/2(TM) product.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 19. Create WFENV.CMD - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Select this option to create the command file that invokes the IBM
- WorkFrame/2(TM) product.
-
- If the Add User program does not update your CONFIG.SYS file, the commands to
- set up the WorkFrame/2 environment variables are also placed in WFENV.CMD.
-
- Once you have created this file, you can add more information about your
- environment to it to customize the product.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 20. Update Desktop - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Select this option to create a Desktop folder for the IBM WorkFrame/2(TM)
- product.
-
- The utility also creates two programs within the folder, one to invoke the
- WorkFrame/2 product, and one to invoke the online WorkFrame/2 documentation.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 21. Source path - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Use this field to specify the source drive and directory where the IBM
- WorkFrame/2(TM) files are to be installed from.
-
- The default path is the directory above the directory from which the Add User
- program was invoked. For example, if the Add User program was started from the
- C:\IBMC\BIN directory, the default source path used would be C:\IBMC.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 22. OK - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

-
- This window tells you what is happening during the Add User program and what
- stage the program is at.
-
- It indicates the files installed, the source directory they are copied from,
- and the directory they are copied to on your hard drive. The bar indicates the
- percentage of bytes installed, compared to the total number of bytes to be
- installed.
-
-
- ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 27. Close - Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
-
- Use this pushbutton to close the status window.
-
